Thoughts:

I'm excited about Clay Ardoin (and you should be too Bombers fans) and he hasn't even played a snap yet.

I see Ithaca losing at Springfield and beating (somehow) Alfred.  Cortland, as always, is a total crapshoot.

I reiterate how sad it was watching the IC/Fisher game thinking that just a few years ago both teams could be competitive on a national level.  They both look incredibly mediocre these days.

The overrated comment made for some fun reading for a couple nights.  Do any of us know if that's the case?? Of course not, but from someone who thought Donovan would be the all-time rushing yardage leader in the history of the earth, things can change in a hurry.  The kid has had two good games.

Will Ithaca ever be a championship calliber team with the current coaching staff??  I may cut a ball off if I hear about the streak of winning seasons again...

Bombers79.... what exactly was Welch's comment about the best recruiting class??  The current seniors?? I can't for a bazillion years see that being the case.  The current Freshman however seem to be noticably more talented that any Freshman class in a very, very long time.  One QB who was courted by Mount, and another who caught the interest of UW-Whitewater.  Both are in conferences at home games... first time I've ever seen four QB's in on the action.... Kugler, Fietkiewicz, Ardoin and a bunch of others are really highly regarded guys.
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

Not sure who said it but someone tell me how ithaca is staring down the barrel of 5-5? Although they will be underdogs next week @ springfield and home vs alfred (if they knock off fisher that is), they certainly won't be underdogs against a disappointing cortland team.  So two home games and a slight underdog on the road and they're supposed to end up 5-5? I give it 10% chance of 5-5 record, 40% chance of 6-4,  40% chance of 7-3, and 10% of 8-2.

Since when does being underdogs against Cortland matter?

Did it help the 1999 team when they were 7-1 and playing a 4-4 Cortland team? Nope!
How about the 2003 team, when they were 8-1 and playing a 4-4 Cortland team? Nope!

How about the 2006 team that lost to a what, 3rd string QB? 4th string?

Yeah, Ithaca's never been upset by a disappointing Cortland team before.

Regarding your "home games" theory:

1) Cortland is hardly a home game. There are thousands of Cortland fans there and it's not exactly a road trip for the team. Ithaca's 3-4 against Cortland at home under Welch.

2) Playing at home didn't save them against Fisher did it? Or Curry last season.

The Bombers (and their fans) better get over this concept that Butterfield is this impossible place to play and is somehow worth a couple of touchdowns on the scoreboard. Good teams, like Cortland and Fisher (or Buffalo State back in the day) aren't going to be quaking showing up here.

Also I was at the Frostburg game and that was the best 0-6 team I've seen.

Oh yeah...I guess you never saw some of the Fisher squads from the late 90's and early 00's...ha they were way better 0-6 teams than Frostburg could dream.... ;)

Don't worry Buffalo will make sure the Titans win at least one game this year...

Who doesn't love getting off to a slow start and then being congratulated for getting to 7-9?

It's gotten to the point where you can't really get mad anymore, all I do is laugh at the team and laugh with the people making fun of them because they deserve every bit of criticism they get...

I get the cortland vs ithaca arguement in regards to home field but what about when anyone else plays at ithaca... nobody thinks thats a home field advantage?

I didnt play in cortaca so i dont know... but i have been to a handful of them and i can see where home field can be awesome but i can also see where if you are playing at home and losing it can work against you

BoSox0322

and for you buffalo fans ... Jim Kelly was in Syracuse tonight at the Oncenter for an appearance... my best friend (die hard bills fan) got a picture with him and was still as excited as a 12 year old

No, it was this incoming group of kids, which is interesting because none of them have made an impact this season. I'm not saying they won't be excellent, just that, for a team with supposedly so much depth, they're really struggling. It's tough for freshman to make impacts, sure, but we've seen it at Fisher and Alfred in recent years

Well, almost every team in sports plays better at home. So the fact that Ithaca's got a better home record is hardly surprising.

It's not even a question of the overall record per se, which is actually better this decade than it's been in any previous.

I just think, in recent years, Bomber fans (and who knows maybe the players) have gotten a little cocky about it, like Butterfield's going to cover up for deficiencies elsewhere. Prior to 2007, that was how they looked at Fisher: "Yeah, they're good, but they don't win up here." Then Fisher obliterated them twice here, and now we're seeing that attitude with Alfred. I think it's something fans need to work on. Things change quickly. Cortland lost here 15 straight times, and then won four of five.

Ithaca's always played Alfred better at home, no doubt. But "we're at home" is not enough to persuade me
