I don't think a UC win  would be a miracle, but it'll be tough for the Pioneers.

You know what, you're right...

I just checked the box score of the Saxons 27-10 win over Utica last year and was quite surprised to see that UC was pretty competitive with the Saxons.  UC went 2-5 on 4th downs and 0-3 in the redzone last year.

Utica has improved since last year (Utica has doubled their offensive PPG average from 2008) so hopefully it's going to be a better offensive effort by the Pioneers.

Do you not think the Saxons have improved over last year?  ???

I really think the game could be competitive, but I predicted AU wins by 21.

If the Alfred Coach wants to play some "Wildcat" offensive plays, he should put Kilcar in the backfield with Secky as QB or vice versa

Kilcar has shown the ability to run as well as pass. !!

OK, all kiddin aside, I reread your replies Frank...so you think it looks like SC still has a shot at Pool C....that is crazy (not you, the ranking).  SC should have as much a chance at that as SJF.... .000000000000009

Same conference, SJF has better conference record today (and will remain if they beak Wick)

AU smacked SC, AU snuck by SJF

...and, uhm, SJF whooped the Pride on the road.  The stats were even more lopsided than the score.

Do you agree with the SC ranking?

Also, if Fisher wins tihs weekend, regardless of what AU does, they can at least claim a share of the E8 title. Just saying, in an argument about who should and who should not, Head to head, conference record, and hardware are pretty convincing arguments.

Sunday on a special "Selection Sunday" edition of "In the HuddLLe" at http://inthehuddlle.com, we will be joined by Joy Solomen, this year's NCAA Division III Football Championship Committee Chairwoman.  She will discuss the bracketing process -- from selection of the Field of 32 to the placement and seeding of those teams.

In order to make the interview more interactive, we would ask those with questions to post those questions between 3:30pm EST and 5:00pm EST to the "East Region Playoffs" message board on Sunday (following the release of the brackets).  We will not just focus on the Liberty League team in the mix or even just the East Region -- we will discuss any surprises and concerns that become evident once the brackets are released.

In addition to Chairwoman Solomen, we will interview Liberty League Commissioner Timothy Danehy, speak with the coach of the Liberty League team that wins tomorrow's League Championship Game and discuss the team the Liberty League participant will face.  Please join us starting at 7:30pm EST at http://inthehuddlle.com (or for the archive starting at around 10:00pm EST).

Pep is happy to report that tomorrow's Alfred vs. Utica football game will be available with an online webcast at:

http://www.pennatlantic.com/main.php?module=event-detail&eventId=14285

While there is no link in the weekly schedule (scoreboard), the vehicle of Pep's cousin, who is the ITS wi-fi guru on campus, was spotted today at Merrill Field, which confirms in Pep's mind that the technology has been provided for the first webcast ever at Merrill Field.

Now any Fisher fans not traveling to the cage tomorrow can watch the Saxons' moose hunt to see whether the Cardinals will be playing for a shot at the NCAAs or just a share of the E8 title.

If both AU and Fisher win tomorrow, they "share" the "hardware" (trophy) for E8 championship. Ty1983 is merely saying that Fisher is more worthy of a Pool C bid than Springfield because the Cardinals, after all, would have finished ahead of The Pride in the conference standings, won the head-to-head in convincing fashion, and earned a share of the title.

In similar circumstances, back in 2005, when a Brenton Brady-led AU defense shut down the Cardinals for a 13-7 upset win at Growney, both teams finished 8-2 and were actually Pool C candidates. That year, the final PUBLIC East regional standings had Fisher ahead of Alfred, which was ahead of Wilkes. In an argument similar to that being made now by Ty1983 that Fisher would more worthy of a Pool C than Springfield, the 2005 Saxons certainly had the edge on Fisher and Wilkes, for that matter, (Wilkes had beaten an UNRANKED team in Week 11) as AU had beaten Fisher head-to-head and finished ahead of Fisher in the E8 standings.

Being a novice to all this playoff and seeding stuff, if AU and SJF have the same in conference record, and AU beat SJF head to head, where is the confusion about sharing "hardware?"  ???

They're both Co-Champions, both would receive E8 championship awards and all that stuff however AU would get the AQ though and we all know that's what really matters...

This seems illogical but I won't argue with the status quo as it seems to be in control.  :)

I see how you are getting hung up since Alfred would have won the head to head and they should be outright champs, but again you would still earn the all important AQ...But it's not illogical they share the co-champion title since somewhere along the way Alfred obviously would have had to have lost to an opponent that Fisher was able to defeat.  You guys take your ticket to the playoffs, if we beat Hartwick just let us have our little piece of dignity so we have something slightly positive to think about in the offseason.

sjfcards

sorry for the confusion of my earlier post. When I mentioned hardware I was simply speaking about the fisher vs sc argument. AU is the real winner of the conference but fisher can at least share the title on paper. Sc can not. That is all I meant. I assume fisher also gets some kind of trophy.
GO FISHER!!!

Week 11 and it still matters!!!  That's all we asked for during the summer.  Looks to be a very nice day for mid-November and Alfred will be playing in week 12 one way or another.

Haven't been around lately, so I apologize if this has been discussed, but word is that Grastorf has been suspended for Cortaca because he was caught in possession with an, um, illegal substance. Anyone w/further info?

Just got back from  Alfred.  WE DID IT!!  Congaratulations Saxons.  Let's take care of business next week.  For those who care and don't know the final was 56-30 with much of the Utica scoring against the Alfred second defense.

Go Saxons!!
