Just got back from  Alfred.  WE DID IT!!  Congaratulations Saxons.  Let's take care of business next week.  For those who care and don't know the final was 56-30 with much of the Utica scoring against the Alfred second defense.

Go Saxons!!

Congrats!

Congrats Alfred...represent the E8 well.  I just wrote another post...but it is pretty amazing that every team except for Utica in the past 5 years has won a piece of the title.  Very balanced...and ultra competitive league.

Don't screw it up AU.

You have one of the best QB's in the region (can't believe we've got to put up with him for 2 more years) and two legit weapons in Hendrix and Manzer.   There is no reason why you guys can't get to Alliance.

Thanks and true, though the reason we wouldn't get out of Alliance is that our secondary looks like it's playing while being chased by bees.

Oh, and congrats to IC on the Cortaca win!  That brings the E6 OOC record for 2009 to 22-4.  Let's sweep our ECACs and hope the Saxons can make it a family reunion in Alliance!

As long as Alfred doesnt get Curry in the first round, I'll think they'll be good....lol

After all the question marks ithaca puts it together the last two weeks to beat two good teams in alfred and cortland.  Solid way to finish the season after a tough loss at springfield. Gotta give them credit for finishing strong the last two weeks. With a cortaca win to cap it off I wouldn't call it too bad a season even without the ncaa bid. Good win, go bombers!

Time for basketball.

Congrats to the Bombers.  Tough game where neither offense really dominated.  Both QB's had some nice completions and some they wish they had back, particularly Smith.  Tip my hat to the Bomber special teams.  They kept field position in favor of the Bombers all day and I personally think the blocked extra point was critical as it likely changed Cortlands game plan.  Anyone else puzzled by the first attempt to go for two?  I still can't figure out what they were thinking.  I for one, was not impressed by either teams offense.  It's a good day when everyone walks off the field under their own power and I think we had that today too.

Congrats to Alfred on the E6/8 championship.  You guys have been knocking on the door for a full years now so it was only a matter of time.

Good luck in the play-offs!

I really hope AU gets a good seed in the tourny. I think they have earned it.  One loss to a much improved ic team on the road.

I can see a #3 seed and a trip to DVC in the 2nd round...

Hopefully that turns out better for them than the last time a E8 team went there in the playoffs...

I'm not sure, but is Maine within the 500 mile rule for Alfred? The three closest teams I can think of are Alfred, Montclair, and Susquahanna. From what I have read Montclair is the most logical team for them to play.

No.   the NCAA Mileage is calculated using their own methodology.  It's over 600 miles between Maine and Alfred:
