We just finished our "In the HuddLLe" interview with Dr. Joy Solomen, Chairwoman of the NCAA Division III Football Championship Committee.  I have to admit, I learned some things during the call -- and I'm sure readers will want to hear what she said about strength of schedule issues, the East as a whole and the way to avoid Mount Union at the top of the East Bracket every year.

Tune in at http://inthehuddlle.com at 7:30pm EST for the interview and a lot more.

Best of luck to Alfred. Looks like you did get a good deal with the seedings. Even tho MUC is in the bracket, at least you avoid them as long as possible. Never know what can happen in the playoffs.

When do the ECAC Bowl pairings come out?
GO FISHER!!!

Since Pep has been waiting to hear ECAC pairings for a few years running, based on that experience to date, Pep would say they'd likely be announced around 12 noon Monday.

Pep (or anybody).

What can we expect from Albright.  I mean their offensive scheme etc. Anybody from the E8 played this year or the last few years?  I understand from WETM news in Elmira that the last time we played them was 1955 so no help there.  AU won that one 13-7.

Go Saxons!!

It appears, from Pep's brief visit to the Albright website, that the Lions are a pretty balanced team offensively, throwing the ball about 50% of the time. Their four-year starting QB is out, but their backup has done an admirable job.

Here's a link to their cumulative statistics for 2009:

I'd like to congratulate Dave Murray for leading Alfred to the NCAAs and wish him the best next week. I always enjoyed working with Dave when he was the head coach at Cortland (he was the coach when I started at Cortland in 1991 and coached through the 1996 season).

Does anyone know when the ECFC gets an AQ? Norwich won it this year. They went 0-3 out of conference, against some suspect competition. Just another reason this AQ thing needs to get looked at. There is a four loss team in the bracket this year, while 9-1 teams get left out. Conferences should have to prove year in and year out that they deserve a bid, not just a bunch of schools getting together to take advantage. It will be a shame if the first round of the playoffs is watered down by more bad football conferences.

Maybe one of the tactful Alfred posters would like to take this one?

So should we change the D-1 Basketball tournament?  By your logic, yes.  There go all the cinderella stories...

For those interested, you're invited to participate in the OAC Playoff Pick-Em Contest.   Whether you joined us in the regular season or not, your welcome to join for the playoffs.

Spreads for Round 1 have been posted in the General Page.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Max is back from a successful Cortaca... not exactly a clash of the titans this year but at least the good guys came out on top.

Couple things:

Where were the Cortland fans? visiting side didn't get close to full until near halftime.

Crowd management is an issue. We were on the path at the bottom of the "upper deck", and nearly got crushed up against the bars by people walking by. (A friend of mine was sporting some pretty nasty bruises on her legs...) That could get dangerous real fast.

SEVERELY disappointed at the lack of people doing the Booga Booga chant! Max prepped all his newbie friends for it, but in the game not only could you barely hear Chuck, I felt like I was the only one responding! I know the FDC went by the wayside, but this is a tradition that urgently needs saving.

All in all a fun time though....

Pep will take a stab at it, but PC no doubt will be on here correcting me, as always.  ;)

Pep believes their conference must be in existence with at least seven members for TWO years prior to qualifying for an AQ....which Pep believes would make it the 2011 season.

How'd Pep do, PC?

That's good, but I guess I was thinking more about the concept of equal access to the NCAA tournament.
