Hey Pep,

I'm getting quite eager for Saturday's game.  Any sense of the mood on campus?  Is there any buzz?  Heard any feedback from players on the team's frame of mind?

Go Saxons!!

Pep (pretending he didn't read that "heated" exchange) would say there's definitely a "buzz" around campus and we're not talking about Mug Night at Alex's. One of Pep's student workers in revealing weekend plans included "attending his first football game this year," which would indicate that those not-so fanatical about football are being drawn in by this historical moment, recognizing that the Saxons' accomplishment is special.

Mood- Dreary.  It's Alfred for crying out loud, the weather always sucks and the valley that it's in only helps the wind burn received walking around on campus.

Buzz on campus- Just the sounds of pottery wheels spinning uncontrollably!

Feedback- They're happy they're no longer the E8 bridesmaid.

Upstate:

The weather has been unseasonably mild and, until yesterday and probably today, bright and shiny. Tomorrow should be a decent day for football with highs in the 50s and partly cloudy. Could it be that "global warming" conference they held at Alfred State last week?

The pottery wheels are still spinning but nicely under control.

The Saxons' ascent to the NCAAs serves as a pleasant distraction from the devastation of Main Street in the loss of a landmark that held fond memories for so many...from St. Patrick appearing on the porch hanging over Main Street from 3 N. Main, the Corner Barbershop, Glover's Grocery, the Skimeister and Alfred Sports Center...etc., etc.

But probably with all the devastation comes an appreciation in the Alfred Community for the way that it always pulls together in times of adversity, and that makes Pep proud to be serving a life sentence in Alfred.

Really good write up by K-Mac surrounding the tournament...but not a lot of love for Alfred!!!

JQV, JU, or other IC fans...who are the big losses for IC after this year (obviously Scalise, etc.)?  But what about other positions?  And who are you guys expecting to step up next year...especially at QB?

Cry me a fricking river...

Get the sand out of your vagina and stop being a little girl...

God forbid someone, who has actually spent a couple years in that town, try to say something comical...

Additionally, this is the first time I've seen handmade, pep rally posters hung in the windows of Main Street businesses, so I think even the townies might be getting into it.  Unfortunately, John Doe usually wades into new ventures (stock market, housing market, US Soccer after they beat Spain, etc.) just before it crashes.  Here's to hoping we can avoid a crash for one more week!

I'll just give you a quick answer to keep from stealing AU's thunder.  The only two losses that come to mind that will hurt us are Queener and Scalise.  Others are leaving but their departure probably helps too.  Everyone else that can play is coming back.

IC had two highly-touted young QBs in Jason Hendel and Mike Mathews.  Mathews played part of his high school career at a powerhouse in South Florida (Aquinas) that has sent like 70-percent of its players to UF over the last four years.  He moved to Ohio or some place part way through and, based on google, had some D1 interest before coming to IC.

Although, we have been pumped about highly-touted young QBs at IC for about 6 years now.  If you were bored, you could probably go back feed me posts I wrote begging for Welch to turn everything over to a young Juvan and then saying the same thing about a young Grastorf.  This time I gotta be right though....

Congratulations to Dave Murray and all the other Saxons who were honored by the Empire 8.

Nice, although sadly you could substitute any upstate NY town into the mood comment. But the "pottery wheel's spinning uncontrollably" line was great, well done.
