Like the bright yellow blooms of the forsythia, it was nice seeing that other sign of spring in Mayberry: Open container citations to Alfred Football players in the Sun.  Ah, spring really is here!  Enjoy those wind sprints, fellas!

Such an astute Alfred Sun reader you are, KaZoo! Pep is sure that KaZoo didn't fall for that front page dated April 1....while perhaps Coach Murray was hoping the police report was also a prank.

Here's Pep again, talking to himself.....again.

For a moment yesterday, with the cold snap, Pep felt its familiarity with football weather. Pep came out of the Dollar General and while getting in the car thought for a moment, "Gosh, this is the perfect temperature for football!"

Pep is attempting to get the band together for a gig on Hot Dog Day at the bandstand. Probably late afternoon if it happens. Pep needs a fix.

Pep understands that the number of Alfred University applicants seeking to play football as a Saxon has hit an all-time high. Pep is thinking Alfred being the lone New York State D3 football-playing institution appearing in the 2009 NCAA Playoffs may have something to do with that....or that those desiring to play football in college begin their search at the beginning of the alphabet.

I agree. It is really nice to see 10 games back on the schedule. I also like that the longest trip Fisher has is to Utica. Could not be more upset about the IC game. A friend of mine is getting married that day, so I can not make it to the game. First time in 9 years I have not made it. I keep telling him to change his date, but he obviously does not have a grasp on what is really important here.

GO FISHER!!!

I like the 10 games, it's nice to see Port and Bart back on the schedule!

Pep is befuddled by college football game starting times. When Pep was just a little pepper, seems all AU games started at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoons....or 8 p.m. Saturday nights.

Then, for a long period of time, kickoff was always at 1:30 p.m.

Of late, AU games start at 1 p.m. with an occasional road game (Springfield) starting at 12 noon.

Now Pep takes a look at the Fisher schedule and sees four 12 noon games, two 4 p.m. games, two 7 p.m. games, a 6 p.m. game and, just to make life interesting, a game at AU "TBA." AU's schedule, as now posted on this site, lists all AU games starting at 1 p.m. excepting the regular season finale at Utica, with a 12 noon kickoff.

Any thoughts on "prime kickoff time" for D3 football?

I like the idea of a night football game every once in a while.  Adding lights to Butterfield would be a novel idea but with all the $$ they're spending on the new athletics center, I doubt lights are in the budget.  But overall I think 1:00 gives plenty of time to tailgate and is not too late in the day.  They have to bump Cortaca up to a noon start every year to prevent too much tailgating  :o .  But overall 1:00 is ideal IMO.

I think the night thing could be cool, but not too fun for fans of the visiting team. If you're a couple hours away, it's one thing to get up at 10:00 A.M to go to a game, but that could lead to some late ending games, and in the winter, it could be a pain.
