When would be a good time to leave then?  Winter, when more important recruiting is going on, summer, before preseason starts and there's no chance of finding a replacement for the upcoming season, or fall during the season?  This is actually about the best time to leave.  And spring practice?  Unless things have changed a lot in 10 years, all that is, is early morning runs to make kids puke, weightlifting and figuring out who to cut to make room for the large incoming class.  Hobart has a number of two sport guys who are playing another sport in the spring typically (lax and sometimes tennis).

Seriously, if a coach can't leave in late April, when can he leave?  My point is Phelps cares a lot more about SLU and the kids he's recruited than anyone on these boards, so what's the point of commenting that he's leaving the school high and dry?

To say he is leaving the school high and dry is ridiculous. dlip thinks some just like to poke and try to find any fault in what others do...or just have discussions? dlip honestly does not think it was a personal shot at Phelps.
The ideal time is indeed right after the season.  Gives plenty of time to recruit, get to know the staff and players, etc. The later you go the harder it is to deal with the change.

I hate the Bills by the way.

Keep trying to defend your (ego) positions.  Read back over the last couple of pages.  Throw shots and have no f'ing clue what your talking about.

I tried to be polite, but you guys are full of s**t (bomber3 and sjfcards,) and I'm not sure you even went through the process of playing DIII football with the comments you made.  Beyond the fact that Dlip's on mark that SLU has more structural disadvantages than any other LL or E8 school, Coach Phelps has bent over backwards for his ALMA f**king MATER.

You guys should work for the Koz, Huffington Post, Salon.com, the Nation or the f'ing Onion.

Exactly which of my posts has taken a shot at Coach Phelps?

I admit that I have never played Division III football, but I didn't realize that only people that have played are allowed to have an opinion about the sport. I am sorry if you feel like I am taking shots at someone you know, that was certainly not my intention. But I don't consider asking if leaving a team at an unusual time would come up in future job negotiations taking a shot at someone.

I understand you are close to this situation, but to call out Bombers3 and I of being "full of S**t" and "not having a F'ing clue", simply for not agreeing with you seems a bit much.

That would have been IDEAL, if he was offered the new job a that time.  I'm sure he didn't like the timing as well, seeing as he is an alumnus of the school and had spent the past 10 years pouring his heart and soul into the program.

The only points I brought up are that it put the school in a slight bind in terms of recruiting, spring ball, and the new coach getting to know his players. If you can honestly say there is no disadvantage then I would disagree with you.  I don't care enough about this topic to discuss it anymore so quit taking things so personal and get a grip.

And that's what i said.  That would be the ideal time...it obviously doesn't work out that way all the time.

What is going on with Cortland State???

And this is after the Morrisville-Eaton teacher/coach just got busted not too long ago with a young girl, and the dude that knocked out Snookie with a solid "FIST PUMP" uppercut...both CS grads...

What is Hot Dog Day?

Begun in the early 1970s as a means of Alfred University and Alfred State College students to collaborate in a community event that would raise funds for local charities, it is the brainchild of then AU students Mark O'Meara and Eric Vaughn.

It has become so much fun that recent alums often return to Alfred to party with their friends who are still at Alfred.

Sounds like a good time. A little like block party for Cortland, but for a good cause, and not just for people getting drunk.

Four days without a post on the E8 bored.

Pep had forgotten about some vids that Pep Jr. had made during the AU-Hartwick game at Homecoming 2007. Just playing them has Pep pumped.
