Otherwise, why are you other 237 schools suiting up?

To play for second place....duh ;)
...or for the love of the game?

On Saxon Warriors...Morrisville Mustangs and Maranatha Baptist Crusaders (who have placed second in each of their last 24 games).

They haven't won in 24 games? OUCH.  Guess Morrisville should have stayed JuCo...

Although I went there once before, nice campus.  Kind of middle of nowhere, even more so than Alfred...

Maranatha Baptist Bible College has lost 24 straight.... Morrisville State (Pep's alma mater) is struggling in a rugged NJAC and probably should have started out in that new Northeast conference with Husson, Gallaudet, etc.

If I remember correctly... you have some eligibility left...

Yes, Pep used to be a real threat as a WR, working the shrubs to his advantage in the green space next to Seneca Dining Hall at Mooville.

Pep's Oneida Hall Second Floor Team went to the Intramural Finals....and LOST.
Pep's Oneida Hall Second Floor Volleyball Team went to the Finals...and LOST.
Pep's Oneida Hall Second Floor Basketball Team finished SECOND in its league.
Pep's Oneida Hall Second Floor Bowling Team wen to the Finals but LOST.
Pep's Oneida Hall Second Floor Softball Team, altho Pep would need to verify...placed SECOND.

Pep is thinking that he'd have been a winner had he resided on Oneida Hall's FIRST Floor.  :-\

WOW- Ithaca homecoming weekend? That will be a bloodbath no doubt- and I'm not just talking about on the field!

Looks pretty decent though.  How does one end up with 4 night/evening games? Wish AU did more of that but of course, those moths would be brutal- Pep knows what I'm talking about...

Hobart will be a good game, they haven't played since the playoffs a few years ago right? The pumpkin heads will be looking to avenge that loss (remember the fake punt attempt?)

But whats the news on Brockport? They usually have good athletes but they never get it together.  They will occasionally suprise with a nice victory here and there but it never amounts to much.  Are they sanctioned at all since the ineligible incident? Does D3 even have sanctions? haha

They were "good" between 2000-2003, but since have been unable to make the playoffs.

Brockport and Fisher's games in the 2000's were pretty good, I think despite the records at the time it may still be a game to the finish.

I believe they had to forfeit all the wins with the ineligible in the game but there is no sanction on them currently.

PBR...

The NJAC Board has been dead as expected so I ventured to the Empire 8 and noticed the USA Today Preseason Poll and have the following comments :

1. Whitewater S/B #1. Why is MU #1? It is no big deal, but it is still principal.
2. Del is definitely a Top 25 but not #8.
3. You could make a case for Albright, but their stud QB graduated, so OK.
4. You could make a case for Montclair. The "O" will be OK or better, but a few loses
on "D" may force them out of the Top 25.
5. You can also make cases for Ill Wes, Case W, Miss Coll, Hampt Sid and Hopkins,
but don't know personal loses or gains.
6. Why did the Pointers and H-S make the Top 25?

Preseason is Preseason and this allows all of us D3 Football fans to have a little fun. All comments appreciated. I will also cut and paste this to the dead NJAC Board.

Let's  Go  Mighty  Red  Hawks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IWU has HUGE graduation losses; I'll be pleasantly surprised if we are even top 50 in Kickoff.  Last year was "do it, or wait awhile" - they did it, but ran into UWW. :P

We ran into MU and put the most points on the board against them in the playoffs until UWW took it to them. Also, congrats on your baseball success. ;)

where would you then put dvc if not at #8?

Somewhere from #11 thru #15. They are a very good team but not a Top 10 team yet.

pbr thinks 8-12 is about right most of those teams are interchangeable at this point,  but putting them in the teens especially 14/15 is too low for 18 returning starters and a qb who played very well when isgro was hurt last year.

Pat Coleman

That's the kind of information I had in front of me when I did the ranking. I don't think most people who quibble with polls have really taken a look at the particulars.

And while I'm thinking about it, what's the deal with U of R?

They gave us two of the best games I have ever been a part of in 07 and 08, then completely fell apart the following year. I didnt follow the LL too closely last year, how did they finish up? Somehow, every year they play Fisher tough tough.  It's a rivalry game so the hype is most definitely there but is the talent just fading after the J.J years?  That QB they had was pretty impressive, I think he wore #9 (?)...

Is "the bottom line" still playing ball anywhere? What about Farenbach with the Rochester Raiders?

Actually, it was 2006 and 2007 then they fell apart in 08...

Just for the record, the past four meetings of UR-AU are as follows:
2006--AU 40, UR 34, OT (ECACs)
2007--AU 49, UR 14 (ECACs)
2008--AU 43, UR 14 @ Fauver
2009--AU 51, UR 14 @ Merrill Field

Overall, UR holds a 22-19-2 edge in the series, but AU has won the last 11 meetings.

8 or 15 does not really matter in preseason. DelVal is a good team. By Sept 18th we will really find out since their first 3 games are really tough.

Point well taken. ;)

I asked before and maybe you missed it, but what are your thoughts on Montclair?

Pat Coleman

For Montclair, I did look at them as we got further down the list but I was really concerned about the amount of starters (seven) that needed to be replaced on defense. They would have been first on my list out of the NJAC but behind Alfred in terms of "who's next from the East."

Thanks for your thoughts. I was concerned about the Defensive losing (5) and re-checked if we were losing (7) and have come upwith the following returning :

1. Iachetta (DT)
2. Brenner  (G)
3. Tweer     (MLB)
4. Kirschenbaum (OLB)
5. Knoeppel  (G)
6. McLean   (FS)

Let's see how things play out. Will order the D3 Preview tonight.
