but behind Alfred in terms of "who's next from the East."

So...Alfred is going to be the "catcher" this year???

Well hopefully Alfred will not be catching whatever the Hawks had this past year...

For Montclair, I did look at them as we got further down the list but I was really concerned about the amount of starters (seven) that needed to be replaced on defense. They would have been first on my list out of the NJAC but behind Alfred in terms of "who's next from the East."

Thanks for your thoughts. I was concerned about the Defensive losing (5) and re-checked if we were losing (7) and have come upwith the following returning :

1. Iachetta (DT)
2. Brenner  (G)
3. Tweer     (MLB)
4. Kirschenbaum (OLB)
5. Knoeppel  (G)
6. McLean   (FS)

Let's see how things play out. Will order the D3 Preview tonight.

This is what I have on Montclair:

Returning defensive starters (name, year, position):

Alex Iachetta, Jr., DL
Ed Kirschenbaum, Sr., OLB
Mario McLean, Sr., S
Gary Knoeppel, Sr, CB

Pep likes the way Pat is thinking here! +K  ;)

Saxons will need to replace 1400-yard rusher Vinson Hendrix and all-purpose yards leader Jared Manzer, WR Milton Harding and a couple of standout offensive linemen ...Eric Manning and Dave Carletta; an effective punter in Pete Marley; plus NG Jerry Bond, LB Marc Mangovski and DB Nick Barton.

Pep is confident some of the top recruits of 2009 will step up but it remains to be seen how the 2010 recruits (and Pep believes Murray has some good ones coming in) adjust to football at the D3 level.

AU will need to improve its pass defense this fall if it is to seriously contend for another E8 title. Without Manzer back there, we saw Albright exploit our secondary. Who will get the job done back there?

Is O'Brien staying? I know Raleigh has eligibilty left but I haven't heard if he is staying or leaving...

Currier is solid and is only getting better with age and experience.  Look to him to carry the load in the defensive secondary.  Wouldn't be suprised if they switched Clark to a SS type backer instead of the weakside.  Is he staying? I know he has eligibility left but his degree is almost done...

"Renovations to the restroom facilities, located beneath the grandstand, will also be completed by the beginning of the upcoming school year."

Somehow I fear this marks the end of the urinal trough era at Merrill Field...

Pep inquired about the urinal trough. It will be history. Perhaps Kaz00 would like to acquire it from the renovation crew and install it in an appropriate location in the Kaz00 home? After all, to date, all the Kaz00 offspring could use it!

True story. Pep had approval from University officials, pending approval of those with the demolition contract, to acquire sufficient lumber from the Merrill Field Grandstand to build a deck behind Pep's house. Unfortunately, the demolition people planned to salvage it themselves.

Pep- I'm sure you could find some room for that old Astro turf...

Pep is certainly open to suggestions on how he could use the AstroTurf12... perhaps carpet the garage?

BTW, Saxon8: Good news from Deland, FL...the heretofore unclaimed house that AU built in 2008 was dedicated last week and is now occupied!

Of course, the Pressleys have been in the 2009 "House that AlfredSaxon8 Built" since November '09...

...and word is that pending completion of landscaping, our 2010 house will be dedicated sometime this month!!

Just curious about the benefits of grass/field turf.  Which is cheaper?  Obviously field turf is more expensive to install but less to maintain.  How much did AU spend on their field turf now and back in 1999?  They basically got 11 years use from the astroturf previously installed and I wonder what the maintenance costs are for a natural field.  Is one significantly cheaper than the other?

this is simple....man cave w/ the turf....see if you can maybe get players bench or other seating area. As well as padding put around the goal posts...make your cellar or garage into a sweet man cave of merrill field. Put up posters on the wall of the field/stadium. Many of pbr's friends have done this w/ their favorite teams and it rocks when you sit there and watch a football game on tv.

I think Pep should either re-upholster the van or just cover the van's outside with the carpet from the old field...
