Fisher is ranked the 357th best college in America.  Suck it Adelphi and DePaul!!!  (the next ones down on the list)  http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/94/best-colleges-10_Americas-Best-Colleges_Rank_15.html

Oh...Ithaca, Union, U of R, Alfred, RPI, Hobart, etc. etc. may also be on the list and may or may not be ranked higher than Fisher...but seriously eat it Adelphi and DePaul!

Hmm,
Someting makes me think that Dr. Bain wont be using that as an advertising hook.

Even better, no Cortland on the list. Ok, so that one's just for us. Still

I am guessing only a handful of people that went to Cortland even attempt to read Forbes magazine. Most just walk by because it seems like too big of a "book" to read.  The ones that do pick it up usually do so for the pictures, but quickly realize there are some really, really big words in there.

It's friday, I'm bored, so I figured I'd go through IC's schedule and see what I think their season will turn out to be. Feel free to argue:

September 4th-- St. Lawrence: Should be an easy win for the Bombers. I'd strive for diplomacy, what with the 387 ex-Bombers on the coaching staff, but to be honest, St. Lawrence just isn't very good and Week 1 at Butterfield aint exactly fun times for most teams.

Bombers win 38-7

September 11th-- Union. This game might determine Ithaca's Pool C chances. I don't really know a lot about what Union brings back, but I think, at home, IC can squeak it out.

Bombers win 21-17

September 18th-- at Widener. Bombers first road game of the season shouldn't be much of a challenge. Ithaca rarely looked dominating last season, but they did when they played Widener.

Bombers win 41-13

September 25th-- at Lycoming. Lycoming seems to be in enrolled in the Springfield school of alternating good and bad. As much as the 2005 loss stings, I think Ithaca pulls this one out too.

Bombers win 27-10

October 2-- Hartwick. The Hawks have given Ithaca trouble before, but mostly in the 'Wick. Games at Butterfield have not often been pretty.

Bombers win 34-13

October 9-- at St. John Fisher. The Bombers have been blown out by Fisher four years in a row and haven't won there since 2002, when Mark Robinson was but a gleam in the eye of Pittsford fans. Fisher's not the power they were in their 2006-2007 days anymore, but...sorry guys. Until proven otherwise, you won't get any quarter from me

Fisher wins 31-17

October 23-- Springfield. Carter is going to be nasty, but the Bombers have good linebackers. In their last four trips to Butterfield, Springfield has gone into the games with a record of 17-6. They have been outscored, on average, 34-10. They're simply not as dangerous on grass, and a late October game could spell bad weather. Ask Chris Sharpe how much fun that was in 2006.

Bombers win, 29-14

October 30-- Utica. The Pioneers are improving, I'll give them that. Yes, they almost beat Ithaca last year, but the next semi-competitive game they play in Butterfield will be their first. Another IC guy looking at a loss. Sorry Blaise.

Bombers win, 42-10

November 6-- at Alfred. No matter how hard I try, I can't help thinking back to Dan Juvan's first year as a starter in 2006, when the Bombers went to Merrill and folded in the second half, losing 28-17 (Looking back, that happened to Juvan's teams a lot in road games against good teams. And by a lot, I mean almost every time). I think this is the kind of game where having that experienced QB helps

Saxons win 24-14

November 13-- at Cortland. The home/road designation hardly matters, as both teams will have a hearty crowd. The main question: What affliction will keep Cortland's first two quarterbacks from appearing in this game? Torn ACLs? Leigonnaires' disease? The plague? If Cortland's not healthy behind center, the Bomber seniors make it a clean sweep.

Ithaca wins, 21-13

So there we have it. I think a best-case scenario involves an 8-2 season for the Bombers. Which, given the schedule and the fact that only two Ithaca teams in the last 17 years have won nine regular season games, I think is fair. Lots of things can change, of course. Union and Cortland are toss ups. Maybe Springfield will finally learn how to play on grass. Maybe Alfred's personnel losses will be too much for Secky to handle on his own. Maybe Bill Struzzi will give a frame-by-frame breakdown of his interception return in 2005 and the Bombers will actually beat Fisher. But here's my best guess

sjfcards

I know the bored feeling all too well Bombers, so I will follow your lead. Here is my prediction for Fisher this year:

September 4th - Brockport - Fisher/Brockport games are typically competitive and entertaining games, and I don't see why this one would be any different. I don't think Brockport has the talent to stay with Fisher for a full game. I think Fisher pulls away late

Fisher wins 27-14

September 11th - Buff State - After last seasons beat down I am sure Buff State will be out for some revenge, but I think Fisher will be able to handle them

Fisher wins 34-7

September 18th - U of R - Fisher keeps the starters in all game this time, and wins in comfortable fashion.

Fisher wins 41-13

September 25th - Hobart - This game is one that I have no idea how it will go. I think Fisher is the better team, but on the road against a good team in a new stadium. In the end I think talent will win out

Fisher wins 24-21

October 2nd - Utica - On the road against a much improved team. Look out for a trap game here. I think Fisher struggles to put Utica away all game but walks away with a big phewww at the end of it.

Fisher wins 28-17

October 9 - Ithaca - A huge game for both teams this, and every season. Fisher has had the better of the rivalry lately, and I think this year follows the same trend.

Fisher wins 38-21

October 16th - Hartwick - A team that always gives Fisher trouble, this game has the makings of a trap as well. At home, the week after Ithaca, a high scoring team...look out. Hopefully Fisher has learned their lesson with Hartwick, and the game last year is more how this will go from now on.

Fisher wins 52-38

October 23rd - Alfred - I think Alfred is going to be one of the better teams in the region against this year. Fisher has never ran the table in the E8, and I think this is the game that gets them into another 3 way tie for first.

AU wins -31-38

October 30th - Frostburg State - I don't know anything about Frostburg except that they do not have the best record the last several years. Fisher should be able to get back on track.

Fisher wins 42-17

November  - Salisbury -  the steaks big offense and option offense has given Fisher plenty of trouble in the past. Fisher should have the best team they have put on the field against Salisbury this year, so I am looking for a big win to get in to the tournament.

Fisher wins 38-27

All in all I think Fisher has a good season ahead of them. I can see some real tough games in there, that could go either way. I think Hobart and Hartwick are particularly scary games for Fisher this year. I don't know why, but I have a funny feeling about the Brockport game as well. I think 9-1 or 8-2 is a very realistic expectation for Fisher this year.
GO FISHER!!!

+k to bombers and sjfcards for getting some chatter going with predictions. Both posts look pretty decent and realistic for the most part. dlip has some brief thoughts on a few picks here because he is feeling football itchy today.  ;)

QuoteSeptember 18th - U of R - Fisher keeps the starters in all game this time, and wins in comfortable fashion.

Fisher wins 41-13

dlip feels this game will be closer this year. U of R has some talent on the offensive side of the ball and will bring that, along with some serious hunger to the table for this rivalry: SJF still wins though 28-21

QuoteSeptember 25th - Hobart - This game is one that I have no idea how it will go. I think Fisher is the better team, but on the road against a good team in a new stadium. In the end I think talent will win out

Fisher wins 24-21

Probably the pick dlip concurs with the most. Going to be a very close game but again, dlip feel the pumpking heads will come up a bit short, even at home: SJF 21-17

QuoteNovember  - Salisbury -  the steaks big offense and option offense has given Fisher plenty of trouble in the past. Fisher should have the best team they have put on the field against Salisbury this year, so I am looking for a big win to get in to the tournament.

Fisher wins 38-27

Let's hope, a New York State team needs a W over the gulls and soon! Fisher ****ing owes them!

QuoteSeptember 11th-- Union. This game might determine Ithaca's Pool C chances. I don't really know a lot about what Union brings back, but I think, at home, IC can squeak it out.

Bombers win 21-17

Disagree: Union comes in with some serious talent on the offensive side of the ball and needs this game to get the season on the right track and quiet some of the doubters from recent years. To dlip, IC can afford to lose this game and still have a solid year earning respect along the way. For dlip, this is a big one for the U and he feels Coney may quiet the Butterfield crowd. Stepping aside from his admittingly homerish views this one can go either way, but dlip still thinks the bombers fall to the Garnet: Union 27-21

QuoteNovember 13-- at Cortland.

Ithaca wins, 21-13

dlip always pulls for the bombers in this rivalry and nothing different here in 2010. Looks like a good score prediction as well! Call dlip a copycat: IC 21-14.

Fisher doesn't play Salisbury this year...

Maybe next time dlip should check their schedule before biting and posting... :)
