I know the bored feeling all too well Bombers, so I will follow your lead. Here is my prediction for Fisher this year:
October 23rd - Alfred - I think Alfred is going to be one of the better teams in the region against this year. Fisher has never ran the table in the E8, and I think this is the game that gets them into another 3 way tie for first.

AU wins -31-38
                       Springfield
November  - Salisbury -  the steaks big offense and option offense has given Fisher plenty of trouble in the past. Fisher should have the best team they have put on the field against Salisbury this year, so I am looking for a big win to get in to the tournament.

Fisher wins 38-27

All in all I think Fisher has a good season ahead of them. I can see some real tough games in there, that could go either way. I think Hobart and Hartwick are particularly scary games for Fisher this year. I don't know why, but I have a funny feeling about the Brockport game as well. I think 9-1 or 8-2 is a very realistic expectation for Fisher this year.

Pep hopes your prognostications for Oct. 23 are spot on...and Pep understands completely how one could confuse Salisbury and Springfield as Pep believes they both run that same style of offense.

+K for getting the boards going....

It's friday, I'm bored, so I figured I'd go through IC's schedule and see what I think their season will turn out to be. Feel free to argue:

November 6-- at Alfred. No matter how hard I try, I can't help thinking back to Dan Juvan's first year as a starter in 2006, when the Bombers went to Merrill and folded in the second half, losing 28-17 (Looking back, that happened to Juvan's teams a lot in road games against good teams. And by a lot, I mean almost every time). I think this is the kind of game where having that experienced QB helps

Saxons win 24-14

Pep refuses to argue with this pick. +K for some football-related posting!

Saw a report on the local news regarding UC beginning practice- with high levels of optimism.

Max dlip will be there without a doubt. Probably doing some tailgating of some sort. Feel free to PM me around the time of the game and say hello

Work continues today on Merrill Field. Yardline numbers have been installed in the turf with hash marks likely to be completed today. Also, the press box was lifted to its lofty spot atop the bleachers, which are nicely taking shape.

Meanwhile, AU's varsity and junior varsity programs were utilizing Alfred State's new Pioneer Stadium field for its one-a-day workouts. Pep attended a varsity session on Friday afternoon along with a couple other AU fans who, during a water break, were greeted and welcomed by the team captains.

It won't be long now....

Fisher doesn't play Salisbury this year...

Well I am not sure how I made that mistake but I really should have double checked my information. Update: I will take Fisher over SPRINGFIELD by a score of 34-17. SC should be tough, especially with that offense, but with what Fisher did to them on the road last year, I think they will take care of business in the last week of the season, and win the AQ.
GO FISHER!!!

Happy to post, Tad...

Pep saw a couple guys chipping golf balls at the Economy Inn this evening and, thinking they looked like they might be the guys working at Merrill Field, stopped to tell them about our very reasonablly priced golf course, VanderView. Turns out they are on the bleacher crew out of Buffalo and were happy to hear there was a nearby course. They assured me the bleachers would be done before the Aug. 27 scrimmage as they have a full crew on site now.

Pep can't wait to see the purple stadium seats installed and scout out a perch for the band. Pep ran into a couple of band members tonight with a friend who, coincidentally, plays drums...where we have a need. From the sounds of it, he may be joining the band!

I am sure this has been discussed many times on the board, but is the new AU stadium going to have field turf? I have been to Merrill a few times for soccer games while I was in school, but never a football game. I am hoping to go to the game this year, but Mrs. Cards will be very pregnant by then.
GO FISHER!!!

I feel like we should start a new page devoted strictly to updates on Merrill. Clearly, it is the topic of the offseason  ;)

sjfcards: Indeed, it is the new FieldTurf being installed on Merrill Field. Same stuff that's going in the new Giants (or Jets) Stadium.

Bombers798891: Pep understands you'd much prefer the off-season updates of the AU Pep Bandwagon....(still on the road and approaching 319,000 miles).  ;)

P.S.: It appears to be closer to football than the LL boards that have appeared to gone back into the Middle Ages. Perhaps King Alfred needs to go over there and shake a turkey drumstick at them. Heck, the football season is upon us!

I know the bored feeling all too well Bombers, so I will follow your lead. Here is my prediction for Fisher this year:

September 4th - Brockport - Fisher/Brockport games are typically competitive and entertaining games, and I don't see why this one would be any different. I don't think Brockport has the talent to stay with Fisher for a full game. I think Fisher pulls away late

Fisher wins 27-14

September 11th - Buff State - After last seasons beat down I am sure Buff State will be out for some revenge, but I think Fisher will be able to handle them

Fisher wins 34-7

September 18th - U of R - Fisher keeps the starters in all game this time, and wins in comfortable fashion.

Fisher wins 41-13

September 25th - Hobart - This game is one that I have no idea how it will go. I think Fisher is the better team, but on the road against a good team in a new stadium. In the end I think talent will win out

Fisher wins 24-21

October 2nd - Utica - On the road against a much improved team. Look out for a trap game here. I think Fisher struggles to put Utica away all game but walks away with a big phewww at the end of it.

Fisher wins 28-17

October 9 - Ithaca - A huge game for both teams this, and every season. Fisher has had the better of the rivalry lately, and I think this year follows the same trend.

Fisher wins 38-21

October 16th - Hartwick - A team that always gives Fisher trouble, this game has the makings of a trap as well. At home, the week after Ithaca, a high scoring team...look out. Hopefully Fisher has learned their lesson with Hartwick, and the game last year is more how this will go from now on.

Fisher wins 52-38

October 23rd - Alfred - I think Alfred is going to be one of the better teams in the region against this year. Fisher has never ran the table in the E8, and I think this is the game that gets them into another 3 way tie for first.

AU wins -31-38

October 30th - Frostburg State - I don't know anything about Frostburg except that they do not have the best record the last several years. Fisher should be able to get back on track.

Fisher wins 42-17

November  - Salisbury -  the steaks big offense and option offense has given Fisher plenty of trouble in the past. Fisher should have the best team they have put on the field against Salisbury this year, so I am looking for a big win to get in to the tournament.

Fisher wins 38-27

I think 9-1 or 8-2 is a very realistic expectation for Fisher this year.

there is nothing funny about the feelings 82 gets when 'we' play the 'Port...having lost to them 18 straight times before 'Hail Katherine'

The worst is that in many of the earlier losses (early-mid '90's)....Fisher was blowing 2 score leads in the waning minutes of the losses, including in the Hail Katherine game when they blew a 14 pt lead in the last 8 minutes i believe.

sjfcards

Agreed 82. I remember many of those games well. My senior was the game in Fisher when Brockport  hit that long field goal to beat the Cards. I believe Fisher was up 17-0 in that game
GO FISHER!!!

Yeah that was my Senior year as well (38-35)...

Fisher never had the lead that game...

I believe you are referring to the 2001 game when SJF was up 14-0 but ended up loosing 40-28...
