AU picked up a win at SLU by the score of 24-16.  AU looked sluggish.  It is only their second game.  In order to compete in the Empire 6(?) they'll need to improve.  With that in mind, SLU always plays AU tough at home.  It was great to see you PEP.  I'm looking forward to seeing another game and improvement.  As PEP would say, ON SAXON WARRIORS!

Guess what, WPI called off the dogs at the end of the game, unlike someone else.  55-0 Final.  Only 22 points scored by WPI in the 2nd Half.

Frank, my legal eagle friend, the veiled bashing on UC is not needed. So they put 78 on Becker. Big F-ing deal. They just put 42 on RPI today also. If you want to smash teams for putting up lots of points, rip Salisbury for putting up 80 against Husson.

Fisher put up another 50, well 49 in a big win over U of R. Bailey with another 4 TD passes.
GO FISHER!!!

I did in the Daily Dose, a more well-read section of the site.  I'm an equal opportunity Frank Rossi-er, as Upstate would say... :-)

Salsbury threw it four times all game...there's a difference

There's only so much you can do when you're on the road and you're a running team.

How do you run out the clock if you're a triple-option team and you are running it down their throat? You can't put your third- or fourth-string in -- they're not on the trip.

I can not wait for next Saterday, and the Fisher/Hobart game. That one should be a lot of fun. Hopefully Fisher can win and IC, Fisher, and Utica, would have pulled off the LL sweep.

Alfred still plays RPI this season.

They should have passed the ball more.

Recap of last nights Courage Bowl...

WOW...

The SJF WR's are SICK.

#12 (6 TDs the past 2 games) has amazing hands and made a unbelievable one handed catch in the corner of the endzone for a TD.  He had no business catching it but made an amazing play.  #7 is the fastest player on the field, he took the opening kick off for a TD.  Would have had another but was negated because of penalty (memo to opposing coaches, don't kick it to him). In the 4th quarter got behind the defense for a 70 yard TD where he caught it at the 50, stopped on a dime, reversed directions and outraced 2 UR defenders that had the angle on him.

Their RB #3 is a load to take down, he's not going to out race you but you better bring 3 guys to bring him down.  He totally reminds me of Jamie Donovan, a straight line runner with quick feet and is hard to bring down.

Bailey is having a great season and has really matured as a QB.  He's seeing and finding his targets all over the field instead of just sticking to passes on the outside.   He's very mobile he just needs to get down sooner, he took a couple of unnecessary shots running down the field that should have been avoided on his part.  He did however bounce back up every time though!

Defense was a little lax in the first half, they didn't seem to be too aggressive and seemed to have played a lot of zone on passing plays w/o bringing heat.  The 2nd half was a different story as they shut UR out and were super aggressive and made UR earn their yards.  Nice job on making adjustments!

UR's stud RB went down with an injury in the first Quarter and it was a shame, I really wanted to see how SJF was going to deal with him throughout the game.

The SJF fans had a nice turn out, UR not so much.  Hopefully they get a better turnout next year. To me it didn't feel any different than the other Courage Bowls.  Looking forward to the Hobart game next weekend!

Upstate, you didn't find Fisher's offensive play calling a little vanilla?  It felt just like that terrible read option offense they couldn't stop doing a couple of years ago when Bailey was first starting.  With the receivers they have and Bailey's ability they should be bombing it down field all game.  By the way I thought Secky would be the best quarterback in the league this year...But Bailey is just killing it.

It absolutely has been vanilla and they're just killing teams with it.  They do the occasional play action and counter play but there's no reason to show anything special in non conference play.  There's a nice temp to the game this year.  If they can just run their base stuff and run it well then just stick with it if no one's stopping it.

I agree, they could very well just bomb it down field all game if they wanted but there's no need to right now.  No one can cover #7, #11, #12 and #21 all at once.  Honestly they have to be the best group of WR's to come through SJF.  It's honestly like they have Ferhenbach, Smith and Marion on the same team.

If a team forces SJF to exclusively throw the ball, God help that team because Bailey is on a mission this year.  He's going to have a monster season!

sjfcards

The Fisher playcalling has been vanilla, but the offense has been dynamic. Teams will have to score a lot of points to beat them. Borum is going to continue to get better as he gets reps since he missed the preseason. Bailey and the receivers are rediculous and the O line looks good. They will go as far as their defense takes them, imho since the offense will be very tough to stop.
GO FISHER!!!

bomber3

I was at the Bombers game yesterday and their defense once again looked great.  Widener, although they are no offensive power, could not get anything going and Ithaca's secondary was lockdown.  They gave up the majority of their first downs + yards when they were up 31-0.

Zappia looked great and had his best game of his short career.  A couple of the receivers were banged up and Ruffrage stepped up and had a big game.  Once again the run game struggled though.  This is obviously a big concern and they need to start getting things moving to take some pressure off the pass.  If Zappia has an off game the Bombers could be in trouble.

That being said this game could have easily been a wider margin and, unlike Utica, Ithaca took the air out of the ball and the starters were out of the game midway through the third quarter.

I know its a few weeks away but Ithaca's stout defense vs Fisher's high octane offense is going to be a battle.  I'm excited for it already since Fisher seems to be dominating teams on offense.  That game could turn into a 52-45 shootout.

Ithaca's 3-0 start also takes some pressure off the team for the consecutive winning seasons streak.  Go Bombers!
