The UC "arriving" discussion is basically the same discussion as we were having about SJF before 2004...

Yeah, and just like in 2004, if utica beats SJF on a BS call in the endzone, we're going to have to hear about how they've "arrived for real" when it will still be BS. IMHO, you've arrived when you do something consistently, not when you are Hartwick in the playoffs and then drop right off.

Like taking Ithaca behind the woodshed 5 of the last 6 years???

Oh you're a Fisher fan now? Don't blame you, Hartwick is beyond hope.

Nope...still a Wick fan...you threw a barb, I threw one back.  Either way, we still have more wins over SJF over the past 6 years then IC does.

Nothing personal Max...

Sadly for you, you then have to play the other teams on your schedule...including us

Not as sad as pretending you have a shot on October 9th...

The more you try to needle us with the prospect of Fisher beating us, the more pathetic you sound. Do you even watch Hartwick games anymore? Or do you just tune into the Fisher webcast every Saterday with a Boltus jersey on your back and a tear running down your cheek?

Re: Jamie Free, yeah that sucked. I think he used to post on here actually.... bomber27, right?

Easy Bombers...I thought the comment was from Max...and it was clearly in good fun...

I don't watch Fisher webcasts...but you are dead on about the Boltus jersey and the tears...what you may or may not know is that I actually have a huge #10 tattooed on my back.  I would have had "Boltus" put above the number like a real jersey...but my wife said no.  Freaking chicks...they just don't understand...

If you change your last name, you can tell her it's a family crest

A) You're talking to the guy who has said half a dozen times that Fisher's going to kill them. I don't know that ANY Bomber fan has, on these boards, expressed confidence in that game

B) I guess if you're a Hartwick fan, you have to have other teams beat Ithaca for you. Kind of like the little brother whose big brother has to do the fighting for him. Sadly, I think Fisher won't be there to do your dirty work tomorrow ;)

You may be the resident IC cynic, but nobody is buying all the "we suck" and "we cant beat Fisher" ranting.  If AU and Wick nip us every other year, then obviously IC can and will (do) again soon.

It is nice though to have no expectations....takes all the pressure off huh?

Well played. +K

Actually, AU has "nipped" Fisher 3 out of the last 5 years.  I can't wait for October 23.

ok techinal wizard of the boards....cannot 3 out of 5 be "every other year" as I said?

1,3,5.....that is every other isnt it?  If we win this year, it will be 3/6, or still "every other".

fisheralum91

here we are boys.
Eve of the UC Fisher game and I am psyched!
To all the docs, and other Fisher faithful making the trip- safe travels!
I hope to see you at the Cardinal tailgate!

Oh, on a side note- ran into a High Ranking Pioneer employee today---wished him well, but added not that well.
He was appreciative and we exchanged pleasantries - both knowing exactly what we were both thinking!

Go Fisher!

maxpower

Fisher beats Utica by 30 points. Mark it, dude.

saxontad

Just clarifying for the record.  To further clarify , we have won the last two.  Again, I can't wait for October 23.

Obviously we'll beat Fisher again. I've never said it's hopeless forever. But after four straight blowout losses, three straight losses at Fisher, with the Bombers' well-documented issues running the ball, and Bailey throwing for four touchdowns a game, is there some piece of information that slides into IC's favor for this game, other than "It's Ithaca"? Because, despite my handle, I'm not a believer in the Ithaca name carrying much weight. At least not any more. I prefer to look at two things:

1) Is the talent level even--or at least similar?

2) If yes, are there other factors that can tilt the scales? Home field, coaching, grass/turf, historical struggles etc.

So let's go through it:

1) Is the talent level even, or similar?

I don't think so. Fisher's got better athletes than Ithaca, especially along the offensive line. The Bombers' defense is much improved, but the offense is struggling and the running game is terrible. Bailey is lighting up the scoreboard, and while the defense may be better than anything he's seen so far, it's not otherworldly.

2) Other factors:

Home Field: Yours
Grass/Turf: The Bombers have always played better on grass
Coaching: The second halves of the last four games seem to illustrate that one team adjusts better than the other
Historical Struggles: Bill Struzzi isn't walking through that door. 2005 was a long time ago.

I'm trying to think of one thing the Bombers do better than Fisher. I guess, stats-wise, defense stands out, but I remember the 2006 game too well. The Bombers had a shiny new 3-4 defense that had allowed 33 points in three games, and then shut out Fisher in the first half, allowing just 50 yards.

Apparently, it took Vosburg 20 minutes to figure it out because the second half saw 34 points and 285 yards. Every single drive was a TD, except for the one where the clock ran out.

I am a cynic, but in this case, I'm backed up by a rather compelling--and large--stable of evidence

I think you can take the quotation marks of the word nipped considering those 3 wins were by a total of 12 points...

How Ithaca wins against SJF: 3-4 return TDs for Andre Jamison (sp). Zappia to Vossler and Ruffrage all day.... who needs a run game? Bailey eats some bad shrimp the night before = 3 INTs from the D..... Taste it!

love it....great post overall.  This is why YOU can get away with the "ithaca sucks" mantra....because you are witty and break it down at the same time.   As you know, despite the scales being tipped on paper, they still have to play the games.  The same advantages SJF appears to have are the same ones they have had and then some in losses to Wick, AU and Norwich,,,,so ya never know.

lol....+K  Pep had the "Endless Shrimp" at Red Lobster recently and was delighted; however, shrimp in the dining hall at Morrisville had nasty results. Does Fisher's Dining Services serve shrimp on Fridays?
