The truth is that after Hobart's loss to the Larries....SJFs scshedule really isn't that strong.  Granted, the Bombers haven't had a real tough opening 5 games either.  But, who has Fisher beaten that we are judging them so highly?  Brockport? Just lost to Morrisville, they're awful. Buff State? Terrible.  Rochester just got shut out by RPI who beat Endicott by 3.  Hobart just lost to SLU and Utica is really unproven.  I mean, it's possible that UC has beat up on some bad teams adn then played a great Fisher team close.  But, it's also possible that they beat up some bad teams and then played a decent Fisher team close.  Where's the measuring stick?

The Bombers pass defense is 30th in the nation while Fisher's passing offense is 22nd.   ICs passing game is  50th while the SJF passing defense is 205th.

Ithaca's rushing D is 44th and SJFs rushing offense is somewhere in the 50's (I forget where and don't feel like opening it back up). ICs running game is 210th while SJFs rushing D is 77th. I feel liek a lot of the talk is about SJFs high powered offense.  And it might be true, but I think this week is a true test.

I don't doubt ICs running game will struggle.  And they'll run it a bit to keep a balance.  But their pass protection has been good and they've only got a few (I think 2) interceptions.  This is going to be a game if IC can overcome the mental aspect that has been built up a bit.  The mental part is probably the biggest barrier here.

Who knows, maybe I just hate SJF so much that I just refuse to say that they're going to win, but I really think this is going to be much more of a game than everyone is expecting.

Okay TTR, let me ask you this. We can all ruminate on IC and SJF this year. But you've just gotten done playing. What can you take from the games you played in (where IC got smoked) that are positives that could translate into giving Ithaca a chance on Saterday?

EDIT: I've obviously been trying to bring back "Saterday." No one's with me???

Hey, I don't see one of you guys picking IC...

I took em on the Pick Em board...

labart96

I meant to ask this after my trip to Geneva a couple of weekends ago to the Fisher fans....

What's up with the "YARD SALE" chants on 3rd downs....

Assume its to disrupt the opposing offense(?)

I have never seen a team ever do such a thing so initially I was "WTF?!?!?!"

Pep would like to have the answer to this as well. The Fisher jayvees were all chanting that at Merrill Field during a j.v. game. Please explain.

Pep and Kaz00 were just remarking at Saterday's game that, after five or six years, "Saterday" remains graphie traditionnelle de la journée on the E8PP boards.

+K to you, Max, for carrying on the tradition!

Pep thought perhaps in a third and long situation, an obvious passing situation, the defense was being reminded that there's some "easy pickin's."

Seems somewhat juvenile to Pep, but then Pep has been told many times by Pep Jr. to "stop being so childish" and to act like an adult. Jr. has even informed Pep's family that he is more mature than Pep, to which Pep replied (in a whiny tone), "So what!?!"

The "yard sale" chant gets one of these IMO

Do the E8PP boards decree that that day was named for the Roman god 'Satern'? :o

[Or do you have an entirely different etymology?]

Truth be told, "Saterday" on the E8 boards has its roots in Gatto-ology. Perhaps AUKaz00 can elaborate.

With the exception of the '06 and maybe '07 years, I really thought that the playing field was level talent wise.  I think a lot of it has become mental for the Bombers.  IC tends to play tight in this game.  Even when we're up/tied at half, I always felt like we were playing tight.  A lot of times in the first half we weren't able to capitalize on opportunities because of this.  I recall fumbling our opening possession away at Fisher two years ago on like the 1.  And it kind of just snowballs from there.  But, I know most of the guys on this team and they seem to have a certain confidence that may have been missing last year.

If IC can overcome the mental barrier I think this is going to be one hell of a game on SatErday.  I got your back.
Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit.

If Ithaca is to win, it's going to have to be in a shoot out.  Scoring anything less than 35 isn't going to cut it...

Yeah Fisher has been right around that 35 point threshold the past 4 years.  But I'm going to say that SJF won't score 35.  More in the 24-31 range.  I've got confidence in ICs defense.  The question is can the Bombers have any semblance of a running game?
