Haha I wouldn't go that far.

But, my freshman year was the Struzzi INT game.  I had heard about the year before where the pick that hit the turf ended it.  So, I'm use to it being a big week.  I wasn't around for the years where Fisher was our Norwich.

There, I said it.

Hell, a few years ago, Fisher was Norwich's Norwich.

Fisher was everyone's Norwich pre 2003...

2 more wins by SJF and the IC/SJF series will be tied...

No one would have thought that was possible a few years ago...

I actually thought SJF passed them already.  They haven't played for that long.

Vos used to say, in the early 90's when he took over..."Eventually, the road to NY's best football team will have to come through Fisher"  It has now done so for several years...

FA- Way to anticipate that no one would find that funny!

Are we really calling this a rivalry? We beat you every year for awhile, now you beat us every year. I think there has to be a little back and forth before it's a rivalry.... and '04-'05 doesn't really cut it.

I agree. Cortland is a rivalry because there's a back and forth. Fisher's just been an @ss-kicking one way or the other.

I refuse to hate because honestly, it's D-III football. There's enough crap to make me angry, I don't need to spewing venom for a Fisher or Cortland. You want to win, and yes, I would trade the win over Union for a win over Fisher. But unless a team plays outwardly dirty, or runs up the score and rubs your face in it, there's some lines you don't cross.

I remember a game against Brockport (2001 I think) where Darnley taunted the fans and got flagged for it. That got me to dislike the guy, and be happy when we knocked them out of the playoffs, but it never got to hate. You read these stories about how far some people take it and it's just sad. I really like D-III football and the Bombers are my favorite team, in any sport, but the day I take them so seriously I work up a hatred for Fisher or Cortland, that's the day I need to get a girlfriend. Or at least a dog, and some chicken wings

Sure, one of the highlights of last year's Cortaca for me was having a beer with CState19 after the game. Of course, maybe that would have been different if IC lost...

It's easier to "hate" things you're further removed from. Like, it's easier for me to hate Sidney Crosby (f***in little punk) than anyone on Cortland. Or Fisher. Except you, FA.  ;D

It was 2003...It was right before Halftime, I believe because I was on the sideline about ready to interview the coach...  Ithaca won that game and the one in the playoffs.  The one at Ithaca wasn't even close and since I was on the sideline I didn't actually see it and I'm not quite sure why he did it to begin with...

He'd been sacked a couple of times and the crowd was into it...he got sacked on the next play too.

Yeah, Brockport got up 10-0 in that game and the wheels straight up fell off

PG, who was the old clock operator in those days, do you know? I was in the box for that playoff game; he called Jeff Welch a "jerk" for complaining after not getting an interference flag, starting a shouting match between him and Ithaca reps until the Brockport SID rushed over and in a hushed voice told him he couldn't cheer while in the box.... good times!

Max,

I can't recall his name, unfortunately... The play by play guy and I usually stayed secluded in the closed off room for the radio broadcast... except for the halftime snack haha.   That's kinda funny though... we probably did meet pre- D3 boards.  I was selfishly disappointed brockport didn't win since my "broadcasting" career was over.  haha

They can, as long as SJF can bring Robby back!

Max,
Should be a great day for football!

I cant wait!

With respect upstate, if I could bring back any player from the past to this specific Fisher team I think Stepnick would be the best choice. Robby was amazing, but I think Fisher needs the most help against the pass.
GO FISHER!!!

fisheralum91

How about both cards!!!!

sjfcards

Both would be fine with me, but I would take either. They are both probably in the top 5 players for Fisher all time. I would say that list is:
1 Robby
2 Kramer
3 Stepnick
4 Bailey
5 Myers

I admit I don't know any players before 2000 but I think the list is still representative. I thought about Feherenbach and lang etc. but this is just one mans opinion.
GO FISHER!!!

fisheralum91

Ill give ya one more--Fortune!

No doubt

sjfcards

No doubt 91. He never even came to my mind but he should have.
GO FISHER!!!

Fun game...keeps me distracted. If we're just talking players from the recent rivalry

1. Jamie Donovan* (Healthy 2004 version only)
2. Sean Mirkov
3. Chris Grey
4. Jake Queener
5. Jason Chier
