Tough pill to swallow for a lot of reasons, but it looks like IC needs to work on their redzone offense.  You just can't walk away from being deep in your opponents territory empty handed.

The Bombers don't have an offense suited to the red zone. Their offensive line is undersized and not able to open holes...

Here are their red zone rushing plays from RB's so far this season

St. Lawrence

1st and goal at the 8-- One yard run by Ardoin
2nd and goal at the 7-- Two yard run by Ardoin
1st and goal from the 5-- One yard run by Prugar
2nd and goal from the 4-- No gain by Prugar
1st and 10 at the 20-- No gain by Ruggerio
1st and goal from the 6-- No gain by Ruggerio
3rd and goal from the 1-- One yard TD by Prugar

Seven carries, five yards

Union

1st and 10 at the 13-- One yard run by Ardoin
1st and goal at the 9-- No gain by Ardoin
3rd and goal from the 1-- No gain by Prugar
3rd and 1 from the 15-- Two yard run by Ardoin
1st and goal from the 3-- Two yard run by Ardoin
2nd and goal from the 1-- One yard TD

Six carries, six yards

Widener
1st and 10 at the 14-- 10 yard run by Ruggerio
1st and goal at the 9-- 6 yard run by Ardoin
1st and 10 at the 14-- 10 yard run by Ruggerio
1st and goal at the 4-- 1 yard loss by Ruggerio

Four plays, 27 yards,

Lycoming
1st and 10 at the 11-- 11 yard TD by Ardoin

One rush, 11 yards. Success!

Hartwick
1st and goal from the 5-- No gain by Ardoin

One rush, no yards

Fisher
1st and 10 from the 18-- Two yard gain by Ardoin
1st and 10 from the 15-- One yard gain by Ardoin
1st and goal from the 3-- No gain by Ardoin
2nd and goal from the 3-- No gain by Ardoin
1st and goal from the 2-- No gain by Ardoin
1st and goal from the 2-- One yard gain by Ardoin

Six carries, four yards

Total: 25 carries for 50 yards, two touchdowns.

Excluding the two touchdown runs, 19 of the 23 runs in the red zone generated two yards or less. 10 of the 23 resulted in no yards gained or yards lost.

So basically, the Bombers have zero ability to run in the red zone. The problem is, everyone knows that. Zappia's thrown interceptions in the red zone against the Wick and Fisher. He's also been sacked. So it's not even a playcalling question because the passing game isn't there either.

Here's the size of their starting lineman:

King-- 6-6, 290
Mallon-- 6-1, 295
Hemingway-- 5-10, 230
Stephenson-- 6-2, 240
Joyce-- 6-3, 215

Avg: 6'2 252 pounds

Compare that to the 2008 line:

Mirkov-- 6-4, 270
Grey-- 6-4, 280
Garvey-- 6-0, 263
Russo-- 6-3, 262
Queener-- 6-8, 275

Avg: 6'4, 270

They lose 2 inches and 18 pounds. But that doesn't even tell the whole story. All five of those guys were solid in size. This current team has two big guys and three undersized guys (Maybe Stephenson is roughly average). Going against big lines, they're just not going to be able to pound the ball when teams stack the line. That's what costs you wins.

The long weekend has kept me away from the boards since saterday, so while I catch up here's the press release for the Legendary Alex Yunevich Sports Complex.

Pep has caught bits and pieces over the past few months but it's nice to finally see the entire package. Pep needs the band to sell lots of their purple pep bandannas if the band is ever to make a contribution to this campaign. Hopefully, AU has some alums who can make a difference and make this happen!

Upstate - Well played...
I am not a salt in the wound kind of guy- but

Screw Ithaca..............

enjoy at least a  3 loss season

Oh come on- that was only aimed at 2 of you ic faithful

82- great to see you and the fam!

I can take the knock and if I could go back this week I say the same thing.  Screw Fisher last week, this week, and next week!  A lot of people here want to see Fisher run the table and get the top seed but don't include me in that group.  I'll be rooting for Hartwick, Alfred, Frostburg, and Springfield the next month.  Its really not about being bitter either.  If we won by 50 yesterday I would say the same thing.  Oh well at least we have a 3 game winning streak against Cortland that we can look forward to extending...

Why the hatred for Fisher?  Did they reject your application for admission or something?
Doubtful:

Middle 50% of incoming freshman SAT scores:
Fisher 1450-1730
Ithaca College 1630-1920

I don't know bombers3 that is a pretty substantial range covered for it to be just the middle 50%.  Me thinks that covers the 25-75% range...You just hate to see people make stupid mistakes when boasting about intellectual superiority.  You'll get 'em next time though Tiger!
Are you serious?  What do you think the 25-75% range is?  It is the middle 50% of students admitted.  Thick headed are we...? ???

And yes, SAT scores probably aren't an accurate description but there really aren't many other ways to compare.  But let's be serious about which school is better academically.  It's really not even close.  Fisher is closer to Cortland than they are to Ithaca.  I'm not saying Ithaca is a great school but it is better than Fisher.  I don't feel like getting in an academic debate either but Fisherwins brought it up...

bomber, this really isn't the right board for that kind of stuff. a lot of us have built up a pretty nice rapport with the fisher guys. and who gives a s*** where anyone went to college anyway, no one ends up working in their major :P.

You sir are correct on that one, my mistake.  I called out a guy for calling out a guy while making a mistake yet it was my mistake.  Misread it as the 50th percentile.  Shows what me and my 1340* (combined score after 2 attempts...don't judge me) know.  I also agree that SAT is not an accurate measure of intelligence.  I also agree this topic has already grown extremely tired.  Let's all just unite and think about Fisher football...It helps me whenever I feel down.

*Score on a 1600 point scale not that strange black magic 2400 point scale they are running with these days.

HEY PRIDE

Max is right.
Even the most vocal of Fisher and IC fans have learned to ease the tension and get along.
And personally I could give a crap what you did on a test or where you went to school.
You want to work for me, have the credentials, a set of balls and a good work ethic.

Wonder what Delong's SAT scores were? Must be impressive to perfect that ****ing triple option and run the football all over the G-damn place week in and week out. Who has the ball, I don't know does he, does he, pretty smart... :D
