82 - interesting point, and i think, for different reasons, it aligns with my point about what i as a fan would like to see. a "look, we just beat rowan in the ECACs" win? awesome! a "we destroyed umass-dartmouth".... not sure that would impress a recruit any more than me.

agreed....SJF beating some team from Maine 2 years ago...Albright I think...aint helping my point, but you dont get to pick your opponent, and you gotta take the good (Cortland/RPI) games with the bad.  Nonetheless though, a football game with trophies at the end will always bring out the player...and the Seniors always wanna win one more game and hoist a trophy...and that trophy is going in the case, and the photos are going up and recruits are taking it all in....remember...they are 17 year old kids, not us 'ol geezers on here over analyzing how to spell Saterday.

Are those big-time difference makers really going to be swayed by that though?

Not to sound arrogant, but if you're a Rowan, IC or Fisher, I think you've got a lot more to sell recruits on right now than an ECAC win. Sure, for a program trying to build itself up, it may be helpful, but I would think that for more established programs, kids are drawn in by the bigger fishes your program has.

I am currently attending an SEC School (one that currently sucks, but SEC nonetheless--and people here always take the side of Saxon8) but I do actually agree with LD.  Pretty much with everything he said.  I have nothing really more to add but I thought I'd add another agreeing voice  :P.

Don't be ashamed to agree with me.  I've applied science to all of my theories.

Ha, I respect that

Its not like there are dozens of teams from the East enjoying NCAA berths and success from the East year in and out...after all, lately, how many NY schools are even getting NCCA berths....4 or 5?.  After that, our only show case for NY football are the ECAC games...

My long-winded, but simple point is....maybe that one difference between how an SJF program embraces the ECAC's versus how IC looks to 'avoid' them could factor in recruiting...

thoughts?

How many NY schools got NCAA berths in 2009?

Perhaps it's force of habit, but Pep has always enjoyed seeing his Saxons get a "bonus" game or "make it to the post-season." It's just another opportunity for good times making memories and music with the band! And, as has been said, "success breeds success." Playing post-season games for six straight seasons can't hurt recruiting.
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Upstate - Well played...
I am not a salt in the wound kind of guy- but

Screw Ithaca..............

enjoy at least a  3 loss season

Oh come on- that was only aimed at 2 of you ic faithful

82- great to see you and the fam!

I can take the knock and if I could go back this week I say the same thing.  Screw Fisher last week, this week, and next week!  A lot of people here want to see Fisher run the table and get the top seed but don't include me in that group.  I'll be rooting for Hartwick, Alfred, Frostburg, and Springfield the next month.  Its really not about being bitter either.  If we won by 50 yesterday I would say the same thing.  Oh well at least we have a 3 game winning streak against Cortland that we can look forward to extending...

Why the hatred for Fisher?  Did they reject your application for admission or something?
Doubtful:

Middle 50% of incoming freshman SAT scores:
Fisher 1450-1730
Ithaca College 1630-1920

I don't know bombers3 that is a pretty substantial range covered for it to be just the middle 50%.  Me thinks that covers the 25-75% range...You just hate to see people make stupid mistakes when boasting about intellectual superiority.  You'll get 'em next time though Tiger!
Are you serious?  What do you think the 25-75% range is?  It is the middle 50% of students admitted.  Thick headed are we...? ???

And yes, SAT scores probably aren't an accurate description but there really aren't many other ways to compare.  But let's be serious about which school is better academically.  It's really not even close.  Fisher is closer to Cortland than they are to Ithaca.  I'm not saying Ithaca is a great school but it is better than Fisher.  I don't feel like getting in an academic debate either but Fisherwins brought it up...

You sir are correct on that one, my mistake.  I called out a guy for calling out a guy while making a mistake yet it was my mistake.  Misread it as the 50th percentile.  Shows what me and my 1340* (combined score after 2 attempts...don't judge me) know.  I also agree that SAT is not an accurate measure of intelligence.  I also agree this topic has already grown extremely tired.  Let's all just unite and think about Fisher football...It helps me whenever I feel down.

*Score on a 1600 point scale not that strange black magic 2400 point scale they are running with these days.

HEY PRIDE
+k for at least admitting your mistake! My bad Upstate, I thought you initially made the comment, not Bobby.  I can't keep track...

I think I'll start making my posts like this so that they're more cumbersome to read and therefore my posts will be regarded with more esteem. Why hasn't anyone responded to my ECACs post? Besides Upstate. Upstate, i think I don't take you seriously because you don't like baseball... oh by the way, AlfredSaxon8 is still making no sense.

Ha, I don't like baseball because I sucked at it and could throw a shot put farther than I could throw a baseball...

I agree, an ECAC win over a E8, LL or NJAC School is a heck of a lot more impressive than a NE school...

As long as you get a match up between one of those three conferences it would be beneficial...

no question, the NCAA berths and wins mean more.  My point is though that in reality, most, if not more than most (does that make sense?) NY teams fail to make the NCAA's for even 2 consecutive years, if at all, ever.  So when you are 'selling' to recruits, you must sell what you have, if just some proud photos of happy players hoisting an ECAC trophy.  You cant sell a final 4 trip to Alliance and only a 12pt loss if ya aint got one to sell... ;)

Fair points all. But remember, you're not going to win a game your kids aren't interested in playing. So, like I said, you've got to make sure they're motivated to play in it before you start clearing room in the trophy case.

There's another thing we haven't discussed. IC-Cortland is a huge game, and I wonder if kids check out mentally after losing that game and knowing they're stuck with ECAC's. Three of the four Bomber ECAC wins (Including the last three) have come after winning Cortaca. The one loss came in a season they lost Cortaca.

82- That ECAC road game a few years ago was Husson.

Yep thats right Husson.

In the post season.

Husson.

Wasn't that a close game? Like 17-10 or something? I remember hearing the score and thinking wow, Fisher did not come to play apparently.  Was that the year they were playoff bound but lost to AU? Not taking shots, just wondering...
