Hard to argue against the concept of Wartburg having a more impressive week than St. John Fisher.

Regarding Maritime's Pool B bid, it's certainly possible. Maybe I should be much more eager to blindly put in a 10-0 team despite them not beating anyone close to a playoff team. I guess I'm too much into the D1 strength-of-schedule mindset for my own good, and would rather see an 8-2 Lycoming team with a quality win play in the postseason.

Bottom line: Could Maritime get in? Of course. SHOULD they, when the prime objective of the playoffs is to make sure the best 32 teams get in? That's an entirely-different question.

Eh...as much as it stinks for Fisher to drop in the polls despite a solid win this week, at least at the D3 level you know that if you win all your games you will have a chance to play for a national title (if you are in an AQ conference anyway). I think Fisher is better than 19th in the country, but they will have a chance to prove it later if they continue to win. With all of the craziness in the top 25 this week, teams were going to move one way or another.
GO FISHER!!!

Pat, mix in a trip to a Fisher game when they are NOT playing Mount Union. Did you WATCH the game, or do you just go off of stats on paper?

Wartburg played a much more impressive team.  That's what he is saying.  They beat a team that was in the top 10.  That holds a lot of weight.  Much more than beating Hartwick.

Hi, and welcome to the board. Did you go to the Wartburg-Coe game, or are you just going off stats on paper?

It does, and while I agree, I just don't see how a team goes downstream... if nothing else keep them at 18.  There really is not a science behind this stuff if you're going off of record and statistics.

I don't know how you expect Wartburg to go up without passing some teams and having others fall. We can't have 19 teams in the Top 18, right? That's the science, I'm pretty sure.

This is not the prime objective of the playoffs. The prime objective of the playoffs is to crown a national champion while making sure there is a chance for every team to have an opportunity to make the playoffs.

seriously Pat...that is about the dumbest thing I think I have ever heard on here...the point of the playoffs is not to have the top 32?  Man, have you lost your collective liberal mind...you  must be a democrat with no ability to make common sense out of reality.  Every taem to have a chance to make the play-offs...even Catholic?  Why bother with the poll then?  Just have MUC #1, then everyone else #265 and start the playoffs Week # 1

82, not to bring up the argument that made you go crazy and quit the board, but it is possible for a less talented team to beat a more talented team, taking their spot in the playoffs. That's what's cool about a playoff is that you never know what's going to happen when two teams match up, even if there is an obvious talent discrepancy. I think Pat's point is right on.

And the poll has nothing to do with playoff selection, so not sure where that comment came from...

EDIT: I guess my main point being that it's possible for a "better team" to lose to a "worse team." You know?

Seriously, 82, you think that the point of this playoffs is to have the top 32 in? Why are we giving the NEFC or the NATHC or the MIAA an automatic bid, then? Why not just go back to what we had before and just take the top X number of teams from each region.

And leave the politics out of this. I'm simply stating what the playoffs are. By the way, AT EVERY LEVEL OF THE N-C-DOUBLE-A. Is the MEAC's or Atlantic Sun's or NEC's winner really one of the best 64/65/68 teams in Division I men's basketball. NO WAY.
