Every team has a chance to earn its way into the playoffs, whether by the automatic bid or via Pool B. Not a 238-team bracket. Man, you should slow down and read before you go all right-wing bullcrap on someone.

Wow- the more things change, the more they stay the same.....
I am a bit miffed about Fisher dropping one, not for the reasons stated by others, but by my continued insistance that if Fisher were ranked pre season - they would already be top ten and not worried about dropping.

Why bother with the poll then?  Just have MUC #1, then everyone else #265 and start the playoffs Week # 1

Why do you think the poll is relevant to the playoffs?

Just a thought but maybe it's a third party that is making the polls a problem?  Like, maybe its not Fisher and the fact that they beat Hartwick but maybe it has something to do with a win that suddenly makes a previous win more impressive?  I dont really know, i'm just grabbing at straws here because I dont really understand it either, Fisher shouln't have dropped in points.   But lets say a team that was ranked #15-20 squeaked by a team in a less than impressive fashion.  But then, the team that lost, pulls a big upset.  Maybe suddenly that team that "just squeaked by" looks a little more impressive?

Could be compared to the whole Kentucky thing this weekend...  Does Auburn's win against Kentucky look a little more sound now that Kentucky upset South Carolina who had just beaten Alabama?

I dont know... Like I said, just pulling at straws here!

Saxon 8- maybe i am putting too much emphasis on the rankings---must be a pride thing...Fisher is ranked and that is great....the fact that they lost position by winning (albeit a lesser conference foe) is troubling.
We knew the polls would be tight, but I for one thought for sure that Fisher would jump at least 2 spots with Coe losing.
Oh well.
Next week is AU- so now saxon8 you are PNG!

Haha I'm hoping to make it down for the game! My girlfriend has never seen an Alfred game so hopefully if we end up going, it will be a favorable one for AU...

After last week, I hope AU can regroup.  I had a feeling those turnovers would come back to bite them and they most certainly did.  Impressive to come back from 24 down but the only thing that matters is the W.

On a sidenote, I pulled up that link on the RPI website to look at the clips from the game, very nice job on the facilities!  RPI did a great job.  Much more impressive than my last trip out there.  But it was like 4 degrees and had 20 mile per hour winds and the field was frozen.  So it was mostly the weather made the field a bad experience.

Well we are finally at the week I have been waiting for.  Now, in a serious way guys, AU and Fisher rooters (and anyone else who is interested), what has changed between last season and this one that should drastically change any of our expectations about the outcome of this year's game compared to the last two seasons?

Your losses to graduation vs our gains through transfer and experience.

Borum and Kramer are a huge addition.
Lines are huge....Im looking at a big Fisher win SatErday.

And its never too early to start weekend predictions:

Alfred- 1 million
Fisher- 0

The rest of the scores:

Irrelevant

hahaha just kiddinggg... hopefully we can find a little humor on the boards?

Anyway, I'm not going to be overly optimistic.  SJF has most certainly earned the hype they are getting.  Alfred has a big roadblock in front of them and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.  I think Alfred needs to control the ball, wear down that impressive Fisher D and keep their Offense off the field... AU needs to control the LOS and battle for first downs, string out some long, time consuming drives and make let Fisher make the mistakes. AU has relied too heavily on big plays.  They need to nickel and dime and take what the D will give them, if they give them anything at all...

I think what gets lost in our viewing of the aggregate poll (and I know how weird it feels for your team to gain votes, but drop spots) is that the poll is 25 seperate ballots.  So, Fisher wasn't ranked 18th on all of them last week and is suddenly 19th this week.  Voters may have had Alfred and Cortland ahead of Fisher and Wartburg last week, but Wartburg moved up more spots in the vaccuum left by top 25 losers than Fisher did.  On some ballots Fisher is likely ahead of Wartburg.  It's the cummulative affect of someone like Wartburg moving up 4 or 5 spots on a bunch of ballots compared to Fisher moving up 1 or 2 spots on those same ballots that affects the rankings we see.

And ANY undefeated team deserves a spot in the playoffs or else we're no better than the BCS.

A field goal and a safety, but the Pep Band doesn't show up.  Negative 2.  (And, yes, Alfred would have won 31-27 had we made the trip on saterday)

Luckily it was an OOC game... But that just means, there goes Alfred's shot at getting an at-large bid if they lost in the E8... Only chance now is the AQ.

With that in mind, if Fisher loses, do they get in with an at-large bid? Thoughts?
