AS8, SJF's starting DT's are both 6'3 and are 290 and 280...

Their O-line averages 6'5", 275...

Where do they get these kids??

Although when I played, we had some decent size.  Rantz and Penkin were both solid muscle.  Ritter was big, like 6'2 280.  Donnie Miller was an animal and without a doubt one of the nicest guys/better friends I've ever played with.  Then we had Syracuse at D end as well... But Alfred doesn't seem to be known for their size as much as Fisher.  I feel like AU's strength generally relies on their LBing core.  Then again, with Fisher, their defense has always just been well known in general.

So Fox is the head d-coordinator there?  Has is been that way since what's his name went to UC? I think I played against Fox my Freshman year...

And who was the LB that was ALL OVER the field? I think it was 06/07 and he had some crazy amount of tackles...

Fox took over when Blaise left.
I believe you are talking about Andy Episcapo (sp)
right?

I assume that Fisher has been favored in every AU game the last several years.  It just seems that sometimes we give you guys more than you bargained for.  You may wax us this year, but  I was really just curious about serious looks at this year's game.  There has been a lot of good input.  I thank all responders for the thoughts.  I think if we stop turning the ball over (a big if) we can make a game of it.

seriously Pat...that is about the dumbest thing I think I have ever heard on here...the point of the playoffs is not to have the top 32?  Man, have you lost your collective liberal mind...you  must be a democrat with no ability to make common sense out of reality.  Every taem to have a chance to make the play-offs...even Catholic?  Why bother with the poll then?  Just have MUC #1, then everyone else #265 and start the playoffs Week # 1

Seriously, 82, you think that the point of this playoffs is to have the top 32 in? Why are we giving the NEFC or the NATHC or the MIAA an automatic bid, then? Why not just go back to what we had before and just take the top X number of teams from each region.

And leave the politics out of this. I'm simply stating what the playoffs are. By the way, AT EVERY LEVEL OF THE N-C-DOUBLE-A. Is the MEAC's or Atlantic Sun's or NEC's winner really one of the best 64/65/68 teams in Division I men's basketball. NO WAY.

Your correct, I misread the context of the post I responding to.

Faggiano was great at recruiting, some of the kids they have now Faggiano brought in.  They certainly aren't missing a beat either with some of their classes the past two years.  I think the E8 is in for a big surprise with a QB on SJF's roster that is a freshman right now, and I mean big like 6'4", 240lb big.  The kid was a great QB from section 6.  They're getting kids all over the place now, they used to concentrate on WNY, Rochester and Syracuse.  Now they're getting a couple kids out of state (OH, CT, NJ, PA) and from down state (Troy and Hudson areas).

Fox took over for Faggiano after he left for the UC gig.

Fox's schemes and play calling has come a long way over the past 2 years.

Fox was a Junior when I was a Senior so we just missed each other during our respective careers.

You might be referring to Gene Lang, he was a special one.

Hmmm I can't remember now... Too many hits to the head haha

I think he wore #31... I really can't remember...  I just remember him not being a very big guy, normal size, but he was everywhere on the field! He was like an all american candidate or something

Yup!! It was Gene Lang! That was him.  Crazy good linebacker.  Is he still playing ball?

One of the most glaring improvements in the D is Fox's ability to make changes at halftime.
In prev. years- there was no ability to adjust....A credit to Fox and his ability to grow as a D coordinator and be able to read what the O is giving him then create a scheme to defend it.

It's gone in spurts really, before the 2002 season AU never lost to SJF.  Then in 2002, SJF got a 97 yard punt return by Gerald Dias in the 4th quarter to win 34-26.  Then in 2003 AU scored with 4 minutes left to bring AU within a TD but couldn't pull off the comeback in a 29-22 SJF win.  In 2004 Ferhenbach scored 3 TDs in a 30-10 SJF win that clinched SJF's first NCAA Bid.

AU got back in the E8 race after the emergence of Paul Kelley in a 13-7 AU win.

SJF then went on to win the next two by fairly big margins (41-13 and 39-18).

Then AU has gone on a mini win streak since Secky's freshman and sophomore years when they've won the past two contests by 6 points.

Overall AU has the series lead 7-5 over SJF.

I'm expecting a tight game with these two QBs.

My hope, as always, is that we play well.  Then the wins and losses will take care of themselves.

Special Teams, particularly Francis, will be the difference in this week's game between Fisher and Alfred.  It was the difference in last year's contest and it will be again this year.   Fisher loves to attack the perimeter on offense and it's no secret..... Alfred is a very disciplined football team, but if they think they can get away with a single high safety.....game over.  On the other hand, if Fisher can't get pressure on Secky with their front 4..... Put it in the books.   It will be a battle.... This is why we love college football.
