I am just looking over the posts from today for a second time, and this Fisher/AU game has a lot of people fired up already. This was the game that a lot of people pointed to early in the year as the key game in the conference, and it should be fun to see if the game can live up to the hype. I think Fisher is the better team, but I fully expect this game to be tight right down to the end. I am making my first trip to AU for a football game this weekend, so I can not wait.

As an outsider I am definetley excited to see the outcome of this game.  I only saw Alfred live this year and I thought they looked great.  But then they go and lose to a struggling RPIand they appear to be somewhat streaky? so in my opinion if Alfred shows up it will be a great game but looks like there is potential for a double digit win for SJF.  Where is the game?

The loss to RPI was a bad loss but I think the Saxons should be able to handle their own this weekend.  I think the RPI game maybe gave them a little wake up call that they can't make mistakes if they want to compete with the likes of the best in the E8 and the rest of the Country.  I think the turnovers seen last weekend should not be a problem this week and AU will play a sound game focused heavily on the run game.  Don't be suprised if Secky plays a primary role of game management first and big plays and long completions second.  I have a good feeling Fisher's D will be aggressive, like usual.  But don't be suprised if they get caught getting jumpy after AU tries to control the ball.  Fisher's DB's are notoriously aggressive, and rightfully so considering they are generally some of the better in the league, but I would gameplan around getting them frustrated.  Get them to jump the short passes and eventually hit them deep.  Then it will keep them on their toes.  Puccio is smart, I wouldn't doubt his offense will be up to the challenge.

I think you are correct on this point...I see AU scoring their points in this fashion.  So the key for Fisher will be to limit how many times this happens.  Momentum usually swings after big plays too, so it will be a test of which team keeps an even keel throughout the game, as opposed to getting too high or too low.  If Fisher D can get some turnovers to off-set the big passing plays that AU will have, they will be ok.  However, if AU can control the clock with the run, and successfully strike deep a couple times, that will limit the time Fisher offense is on the field while maximizing AU's output on offense.  If that happens, and AU's defense forces a key turnover or two, I can see AU winning by the same score I predict  SJF winning by (39-29)

I think AU will be able to score on Fisher. The question I have for them is will they be able to score enough to beat Fisher. The Fisher offense is really tough to stop, and they will score on AU SatERday. I expect a real tight game, but I think Fisher will get a few stops along the way to win by 10.
GO FISHER!!!

As I said before-
Fisher 1 gazillion
AU  Negative 2

Thats just how i see it.

I'm going to predict a low scoring game.  I'll say 20-13 in favor of Alfred...

I was just going to say...He is predicting Alfred will hold Fisher's offense to a lower point total than what Hartwick, RPI, Frostburg State, St. Lawrence and Springfield put up against them.

That's one theory...

Haha that's a little drastic!!

My prediction lies in the way I think AU is going to gameplan.  To me, Fisher can't score if they aren't on the field.  I expect AU to play the field position battle, a bend but don't break defense, and I expect a field goal by Fisher on their first posession then a little dry spell and a lot of time on the sidelines.  Halftime will be 10-3 Saxons, Fisher will come out and score to tie the game, AU will punt, SJF will turn the ball over, AU will score and go up 17-10.  Then early in the fourth, SJF will kick a field goal, Alfred will go on a decent drive but stall out, Fisher will go on a long drive but only get a field goal.  Alfred will get the ball back with around 4 minutes left, go on a little march, put up another 3 and go up 20-13.  Fisher will drive the ball but fail on a 4th and 8 in Alfred territory.  Game over.
