You're mistaken. Win or lose Alfred gets the auto bid... unless they lose to Utica. Which is not impossible.

Why?  Doesn't it make it a 3-way tie if IC beats ALF?

Yeah.  If we lose to Ithaca and beat Utica, what then?

maxpower

oh wait, you're right... if alfred loses SJF gets the auto bid. it would go to overall losses, and IC and AU would both have 2...

This was your classic case of a trap game.  Fisher was clearly looking ahead to next week's showdown against Frostburg State.

I kid I kid.  This game was not similar to the last two years in which I thought Fisher deserved the win.  Alfred just damn outplayed Fisher.  That was a terrible effort by the defense...never seen so many missed tackles or a complete failure to execute on 3rd down.  I said it all year the defense would be the achilles' heal of the team and today unfortunately they proved me right.

Oh and to all the Alfred faithful I know we have been touting Bailey's abilities all year...we collectively swear he is better than that.

And where was Borum(sp) today?

fisheralum91

Borum was injured..We obvioulsy missed him!

PS-

G**d**** Lycoming.... IC is 2 points away from having had a shot at the Pool A.
I agree....IC still has a tough road ahead of them (Utica, Alfred, Cortland combined records are 17-4) but it would be nice to know they control their own destiny..

Pool C is a long-shot even if they won out (especially since their 2 losses both lost today) so IC needs to pray for another Fisher loss and to win out.

Doesn't Fisher get the auto-bid in a 3 way tie (if IC beats Alfred and Utica)?  All the first 4 tiebreakers wouldn't be valid so Fisher would win since they only have one loss (assuming they beat Frostburg and Springfield). The way I see it Alfred cannot lose to IC and win the tiebreaker.

Fisher would be 9-1
IC/Alfred would be 8-2

Long ways away but...

Y'all will please pardon Pep for his onslaught of posts. Pep's all giddy like a school girl.

You deserve to be, your team played great!

I talked with a few AU parent about the quote from Bailey, and while I think the quote was blown way out p proportion, they were upset by it and I am sure that played a roll. here is my drunk 2 cents. Seckey is a great QB but his dad is a Dick. I know that will blast the karma, but I talked with him most of the 2nd half, and he is a jerk.
Hahah I find this amusing...care to elaborate?

I hate to be the guy that comes on here and complains about a loss. In fact, I can't say one thing about the game today that would make SJF win. AU was clearly the better team. I have no issue with that. But when a guy comes to the Fisher sideline, and starts talking to a group of 2 that did nothing but cheer for Fisher, I don't see why?
A direct qupte:

A parent: "See that QB?:

SjCards: Yeah he is quite good.

A Parent: Yah,that is my son...
SJFCards: oh great. He is really goood.

AParent:yeah your QB is a jerk

SJFCards: ?,
GO FISHER!!!

Ithaca beats Alfred.

Fisher loses to Springfield.
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

Ithaca beats Alfred.

Fisher loses to Springfield.

Since 2004 Fisher's lost to Springfield as often as Ithaca has beaten Fisher...

Bombers798891

Springfield's offense played right into Ithaca's hands...the linebackers are fast enough to prevent the big plays.

IC continues to get a whole load of nothing from the running game (22 net yards) but man, Rob Zappia deserves a ton of praise. He was in a battle for the starting spot, has basically had to go it alone (with his recievers of course) and has now thrown 15 TD's and only four interceptions (in 250 pass attempts). A+ for him.

As for Fisher/Alfred, Tom Secky must have heard our Bailey for POY talk, because that was astounding from him. The E8 is Alfred's to lose, but they've still got to beat an Ithaca team that gives them trouble. The three way tiebreaker is a bummer for the Bombers, but what can you do? They've got a shot. It's not like Springfield can't beat Fisher

Old IC Voice

My revised East Region bracket is below. Translation: Let's go, Montclair.

1) Montclair State
2) Delaware Valley
3) Alfred
4) Rowan
5) St. John Fisher
6) NEFC champ
7) SUNY-Maritime (Pool B...and considering that team could barely beat Mount Freaking Ida, including them SICKENS me, 10-0 or not)
8) St. Lawrence (who essentially clinched the LL with their win over RPI. Joke as I might about them potentially going 4-6, the Larries being in the postseason one year after losing Gerard "The Freak" Bryant is a phenomenal accomplishment.)

Last few teams out: Cortland, Lycoming/Ithaca (tie)

I know Lycoming beat Ithaca, but IC now has a win over a pretty solid Springfield team. If they win out, beating Utica, Alfred, and Cortland, it'll be tough to keep them out of the postseason...unless Montclair loses and we have to bring the purple people-eaters east again.

I would personally rather include Norwich than Maritime. They at least have a win over a team from a competitive conference (even if it was the worst team in the E8). Whatever 1-3 seed gets them is going to be licking their chops. I respect 10-0. I don't respect NONE of those wins being CLOSE to quality wins.

Touch The Rock

I'd say that Norwich's win over the Larries is becoming more and more of a resume builder than 'Wick solely based on the fact that they will probably be the LL champ.

Quick question...did you nickname Gerard Bryant yourself or have you heard him referred to as "The Freak"?
Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit.

Old IC Voice

TTR, that was just the first thing I thought after last year's IC-SLU game. There was one play in particular, in garbage time (stay with me). Bryant was lined up on the near side of the 4-4 at d-tackle. Zappia dropped back to throw, and Bryant rushed around the LEFT side (running right by the center, left guard, and left tackle), getting into the backfield, and hitting Zappia before he even finished DROPPING BACK. :o

After seeing that in-person, and seeing the stats he put up at SLU, "The Freak" seems pretty accurate.
