Guys I know there have been a sickening amount of discussion related to the East region and playoffs recently...but I just thought of something.  Next year is Springfield's last year in the E8.  But next year we welcome in two new members.  You do know what that means don't you??  Dream matchup!!

Salisbury vs. Springfield.

Oh it's going down.  How long will the game last?  An hour?  Will the NCAA record for most rushing yards combined in a game be set?  Will my head explode watching it?  Will I even watch it?  Discuss...

It'll be like a pee-wee football game with a running clock. Will they even bother bringing defensive backs to the game?

It will be cool to see.  I really like that Salisbury is joining the conference, it would be nice if they stayed beyond the two years.  They are pretty much identical to Springfield in terms of the quality of their teams throughout the years.  Buffalo State which will join in 2012 is on the same level as a Norwich at this point and Frostburg is probably a touch below them.  So overall I think the strength of the E8 will lower by just a little bit.  The top will be just as strong if not a little bit stronger with Salisbury...But the bottom of the league will need some work to say the least.

The Gulls will clearly contribute to the soldi foundation of the E8 and help the strength of the East Region as a whole.

Oh no doubt bringing them in helps add another strong team to the East region, but strictly in terms of the E8 they are as level as it gets with Springfield.  If both Salisbury and Springfield stayed then holy crap the E8 would be nasty.  I am interested to see what Springfield does once they hit the ground running (yeah I said it) in the LL.

Based on this season they would probably be right in the mix for the LL title.  That said, the no one has gone undefeated in the LL for quite some time (thinking it was the 05 Union team that last did it).  SLU may pull it off this season, but I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped against UofR or WPI.

Agreed...I wouldn't be suprised to see SLU lose to one of these two teams.  Unbelievable still is that they only need to win one of those two games to get the auto bid for the LL.

Just for fun...I say they lose to UofR, and then beat WPI in 4 x OT's 72-70...

Well, selfishly I hope they lose both.  Hobart's playing pretty well right now.

That is understandalbe.  If I (Hartwick) was in your shoes, I would be hoping the same thing.

By the way...and this could be ridiculously premature...but if/when SLU wins one (or both) of their last two games, and SLU makes it into the NCAA's...shouldn't Mark Raymond get some serious consideration for National Coach of the Year?  For a school that hasn't made any type of playoff game since 1982, is coming off of 3-7 and 1-9 seasons, lost probably their greatest defensive player of all time the year before, got beat in their first 3 games, and had to hire this years Head Coach late because of the previous coaches late departure...winning the LL seems nothing short of a freaking miracle...

Big game this saterday and it's been quiet on the boards, so I'll take this time to announce the return of the Saxon Sillies!  Well, at least the cow costume.  I'll be playing my kazoo in black and white with plastic utters at Merrill in hopes of catching some of that late 90s Saxon basketball mojo.

On Saxon Warriors!

As has been previously discussed, any regional poll that has MUC any lower then #1 should automatically be disqualified.

Mr. NCAA, what you've just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in this rambling, incoherent regional poll were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

So this has probably been discussed before, but, how much stock should we put into these regarding playoff chances for the teams listed? I know they don't always include Pool A teams with bad records, and in the East's case, doesn't take into account the inevitable move of someone to the region, but generally speaking, if you're around 7-10, are you usually in the discussion for the possibility of a Pool C?

It's a useless poll.  By this account, if all three teams in the North Region finished undefeated, then there would be no way that they would send MUC to the East.  If this thing carries any weight what-so-ever, it is ridiculous.  Not to mention that Maine-Maritime, the same Maine-Maritime that lost to a 1-8 Fitchburg State team, is the 7th best team in the East Region???  Please...(aimed at the poll...not you Bombers)
