Seems pretty obvious that Kendrick-Holmes got it because of the feel-good story.... after all, he was on the front page of ESPN.com.

As far as Bailey's writeup is concerned, I am waiting, waiting, waiting for the NCAA to come out and say it actually was meant to be for Secky  :o.

Secky couldn't fun for 369 yards if he was being chased by a grizzly!

Congrats to Tim Bailey- All East region Offensive POY!!!!!!

Agreed...Bailey was a hell of a player, and as Hartwick fan I can without question say I am glad that he is FINALLY gone!!!

I was curious about the East Region write up though?  Under Bailey's part, the article states "He ran for 369 more with four scores for the Cardinals, who won two Division III playoff games for the first time in program history."  What does that even mean?  First, because SJFC didn't make the NCAA's this season, and second, are we forgetting the back to back Final 4 and Elite 8 runs a few years back already?

I was marginally surprised by the SUNY-Maritime coach being named East Region coach of the year.  Unless the voting was complete before the playoffs started, I thought that SUNY-Maritime's powder puff schedule was completely exposed by Alfred...

Thanks for the note, but next time drop me an email. Thanks to the person who did spot the conversation and actually contacted me rather than simply leaving a note on the board about it.

It was a remnant from last year's release. I guess I wasn't careful enough in eliminating all of the Tanner Kelly references.

We don't let ESPN define what's important in Division III. :)

For us, coach of the year is in part a measure of what your team does vs. what was expected in the preseason. Maritime certainly qualifies there. That's not always the route we go (as you can see by the other selections) but it is an option.

Easy Pat...it wasn't an indictment of the article, or the overall selections.  I thought Bailey completely deserved the POY award.  Mistakes happen...no big deal.

The only one I was curious about was the Coach of the Year.  I stated before that I am not a fan of the ECFC, so winning ten games in that league (to me, and me only) doesn't seem that difficult...

Thanks for catching the Bailey mistake.  It was an accidental remnant from the 2009 release in which Tanner Kelly won the award.  Albright won two playoff games for the first time in school history last year.  We'll fix that in the write up.

As for the Kendrick-Holmes, why shouldn't his situation off the grid iron impact whether he wins coach of the year?  I think his impending deployment to Iraq and having to surrender the reigns of the program to someone else is an element of adversity he had to overcome as the coach of the program.  And he should get credit for leaving it in a better place than it would've otherwise been, even if that place is miles away from being competitive in the NCAA playoffs.

Remember, this award is for Coach of the Year in the region and that's subjective. It's not solely determined by wins and loses.  It's Not Coach of the best team in the region.  Otherwise we'd have to give the award to Larry Kehres every year in the North. :)

My personal view is it should go to whomever did the most with what he had or overcame the most adversity.  My vote went to Raymond at St. Lawrence with honorable mentions to Kendrick-Holmes and Murray.  But I thought all three were deserving.

I agree...my vote would have been for Mark Raymond.  Again, in my opinion only, what he did was amazing considering all of the circumstances of the previous 12 months...

Nor was my note an indictment of any fair criticism -- just wish people would send an email in addition to commenting on the board so that we get it in a timely manner. I wouldn't have been near the Empire 8 board for hours if I hadn't been alerted by someone else.

Not going to lie...I didn't even think about it.  Next time, I will send a PM.  As you can tell from my posts, I don't often venture outside of the East Region topics...

What?? That's about a D- for a first post  :P

I suspected he meant run. The keys are adjacent.

Mr. Ypsi

In fairness to seAUcky, AUKaz00 had posted 'fun for 369 yards', rather than 'run'.

At least I assume that was the origin of the post. ;)

Wow, not only do we have a current player, but a high-profile one. Who is taking a long time to figure out a simple typo. Nice.

I think he's on top of it...he's just poking a little fun at it.

I will say that it's nice to have a player posting who is transparent about it. Welcome aboard Tom. Take it easy on the Bombers next year, huh?

If you'll excuse me, I'm in the middle of a FUN RUN!
