i understand the fun, run thing.....AUKaz was the one who was making the joke. Just wondering if he is or was ever apart of alfred....

Please tell me this is not who it seems to be........

The e-mail address would certainly imply that

maxpower

Aw, he's gone. Who tipped him off?

pg04

Any number of things could have happened.  Pat could have removed all his posts since it seems like all references to him are gone.  Another is he could have come to his senses.  A third is that someone was using his e-mail address to pretend it was him.  Anyway, whoever it was didn't seem very bright...

Dang, I missed all the fun!   :(

Don't worry MW, there was far more potential energy than kinetic.

Looks like I missed the fun too.  And to provide a Pep-like history lesson, Kaz was a founding member of the pep band back when we only played kazoos.  Pep then let me carry the pep band banner during Hot Dog Day for a few years after I graduated.  And now I get myself to just about every home game and as many away games as I can while playing first kazoo in the band.

As for my little shot at the scrambling ability of our signal caller, it was all in good fun and an extension of the meme which Pep has contributed to on these very boards.  Since everything but the above quote has been removed, I'm not sure if there was any anger toward my joke.  Hopefully Secky can join a couple other former Saxon QBs on these boards after graduation.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Why wait for graduation when he can start this Saterday?

Oh good, UWW and MUC are playing in the championship game again...Yeah...

Does anyone else get tired of this? I know the teams deserve to be there, as they are clearly heads and shoulders above everyone else in the country, but really...6 years in a row?

If the alternative is having them meet in a different game and having UWW beat Wesley 27-7 or Mount Union beat Bethel 34-14 in Salem, I'm sure that's not better.

If the alternative is Mount Union pounding someone other than UW-Whitewater because there's no second team to challenge Mount Union, not sure that's better.

If the alternative is a third and fourth team stepping up to meet the challenge, like UWW did ... well, that I like, obviously.

It's interesting, I personally liked that because at least there was an "underdog" to root for in the Stagg Bowl. I mean sure, the underdogs are still there in the semis, but it feels different when they're in the title game.

The games are more competitive, but now it just seems like you're rooting for Mount or Mount lite.

As for them meeting in a different game, hey if the cards fall that way, I am ok with it. I agree with what you said awhile back about how the committee shouldn't intentionally stick them in the same side of the bracket to guarantee a non-MUC/UWW match-up, but I hope it never gets to the point where, if for whatever reason, that's where it logically lies, they don't go the other way and say "Well, we need to keep them apart so they still have a shot at meeting in the title game."

Obviously, I think we'd all like a Wesley/North Central/Hardin-Baylor whoever to step up and change it around. But, this is an issue that's going to keep coming up until someone does.

I am not sure there is a better alternative. They are the two best teams by a long way, and they should be playing for the title every year. As a fan, however, I get tired of seeing the same two teams year after year. A little variety would be nice.

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the results, tired.

And while stepping up is a good theory, I'm leaning towards the belief that this is becoming like Major League Baseball, if not in function than in form. I guess we can ask the Pirates and Royals to step it up and compete with the Yankees, but that's not realistic. And that's a professional sport, this is DIII football.

Not that it will make you guys feel any better, but even us on the Mount train are getting tired of seeing Whitewater in Salem.  Probably nowhere near as sick as you are of seeing MTU, but it's getting old from our perspective too.

Really thought that NCC would be the team with the best shot at knocking Whitewater out because of the conference they play in preparing them for the physical nature of UWW, but it didn't happen.  Close, but no cigar.

I "hoped" that Wesley could do it, but figured in my heart they wouldn't be strong enough mentally to beat UWW.  And until they actually compete with Mount or UWW for a full 60 minutes, I'm not a believer in Wesley regardless of what the numbers say thru the regular season.  They might have great stats throughout the year, but the talent gap at the semi-final level is noticeable.  Plus they don't appear to be overly disciplined or fundamentally sound.  Almost like your stereotypical inner-city high school team that relies way too much on pure athletic ability to overcome the fact they're not precise, sound or poorly coached.  And once someone can match them physically, they implode.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Mr. Ypsi

HScoach, the results showed that you thought right - NCC WAS the team with the best shot of downing UWW (and should finish third in the final poll if voters have been paying attention).  They actually led the Warhawks entering the 4th quarter.  (And Trine was tied with them after 3.)  The problem is depth.  UMU and UWW can sub all the way to the playoff limit 52nd man and not lose a thing.  Other teams lose something after the 35th or 40th man.  UMU and UWW are simply fresher by the end.  UMU hasn't been tested this playoff season, so don't know how things would work out, but UWW has yielded ZERO fourth quarter points, while scoring 50 or so.
