Good morning all,
Any news about the AU scrimmage??

On Saxon Warriors!!

Pep was unable to attend the scrimmage but heard that a final score might have been in the neighborhood of 35-14 AU, with the first string playing only the first quarter. The big question mark going into this season is the development of the offensive line, where AU lost lots of talent. Pep heard that the O-Line played well. On the other side of the ball, AU first string gave up an early first down and then held the Eagles to three-and-outs.

Now to get ready for Band Camp 2011 this Saterday....and RPI Sept. 10! Can't wait!

On Saxon Warriors!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Pep, thanks for the update!  I can't wait either.  Well, off to the office. (moan)

Any word on the Bombers scrimmage with St. Lawrence?  Bomber3?

Can't wait to get to Butterfield Stadium on Saturday.

Hey TTR - Bomber scrimmage against St. Lawrence was ok from what I hear.  Still some work to be done but overall it was ok - not great, not terrible.  D. Ruffrage did not play after an unfortunate allergic reaction to a bee (no I am not kidding).  His face swelled up like Will Smith's in Hitch.  The run game was improved and as expected, the defense is stellar - especially the secondary and LBs.  St. Lawrence is an improved team so it is tough to tell how it went without any other information.  But overall, I am told it could have been better and could has been worse.  We will find out more Saturday - I'm sure I'll run into you in the Smiddy lot!

Go Brockport!  That is all.   ;)  Max wanted me to start something.  I really have nothing else to add, though.

Hard to believe that we are in week 1 of the season. I hate that Fisher has this bye in week one. I am ready for some football.
GO FISHER!!!

We just learned a Frostburg State player has died, apparently as a result of severe head trauma suffered in practice.

Condolences to the Frostburg State program and Derek Sheely's family.

Thanks, Bomber3.  Too bad about Ruff, but I saw a picture and there was at least some comedic value.  Glad to hear that the run game is improved, that's going to be a huge, huge factor this season if we're going to have any success.   I'm assuming Hendel started/is going to start against Brockport?

I'll absolutely see you in Smiddy.  We might have even talked Lander into making the trip.

From Brain Delaney

Neumann's the guy under center, Gilfedder beats out Clarke at LB--both will play, and sophomore Sal Sulla starts at running back. Bombers will start a freshman at OL and DT.

QB is obviously the shocker. This is the second year in a row Hendel's lost a training camp battle to start--and I heard he was ahead of Zappia during the 2009 season. Also interesting how Sulla passed Clay Ardoin, who split time last season with Dan Ruggerio.

Bombers will be very young and inexperienced on offense. Defense will have to carry the load

So a soph QB and TB for the bombers.  How did these guys do on the JV team last year?  Another QB stolen out of the RPI/Union area?

Wow.  Surprising news out of Bomber camp.  I really thought Hendel was the guy this year.

On the plus side, it'll be nice to see a Sophomore QB settle in for the next few years instead of the QB Carousel we have seen the past 3 years.

Also very surprised about Ardoin.  I played with him his Freshman year and really thought he had a promising career.  Coach Welch likes to get two running backs touches in most cases, so I think/hope we'll see at least a marginal does of Ardoin.  He's a tough runner.

Hopefully, a young South Hill squad will be able to weather the early storm and put together a successful season.

This is absolutely the case.

tecmo's going to be PO'd about Ardoin...

And what a terrible way to start the season; all condolences and thoughts to Frostburg and the Sheelys.

dlip is quite happy for the young soph Neumann, especially since he is a capital district kid. More importantly though he thinks this is a good thing for the Bombers. Now Neumann has three seasons (if he stays healthy and a starter) to really come into his own. For a kid with thi type of talent and potential this is great news for the Bombers.

Is anyone going to be setting lines for the pick-em this year? I don't know about everyone else, but I thought this was a ton of fun last season.
