We just learned a Frostburg State player has died, apparently as a result of severe head trauma suffered in practice.

Condolences to the Frostburg State program and Derek Sheely's family.

That is a terrible thing to hear. Very sorry to hear that for the program and of course for the family of the player.

Pep offers condolences to the family of Frostburg fullback Derek Sheely during this most difficult time.

Alfred also suffered a loss this summer, with the death of one of its  most loyal fans.

"Holy Moses!" (with heavy on the holy) was a standard fixture at Merrill Field since 1937, outliving two grandstands, a natural grass surface, at least three artificial surfaces and three sets of stadium floodlights. He will be missed.

Does Ithaca still do video for home games??  I'd be interested in watching the game!

Yes, they do.   Headed up to the game soon.  No known injuries to report and hopefully the bees cooperate pre-game.  Hopefully the Bombers take care of business and prepare themselves for next week's huge matchup.  Football is probably the only sport where what happens from day 1 can potentially derail playoff hopes for the entire season.  Only 10 games in the season and they go by fast.  Last season of great significance for me...hopefully it's a good one.  LETS GO BOMBERS.

Normally, but there's nothing on the IC Web site listing it today, just radio. However, in case that's wrong, here's the station website: http://www.ictv.org/

Hmm, that doesnt look promising.  The site has not seem to have been updated since sprint.

Yeah it's probably not looking good. Sorry man. Good luck today

Because these sorts of things interest me, I did some math. The returning players on the Bomber line are a lot bigger...

Nate Hemingway went from 230 to 256
Pat Joyce went from 215 to 266
Matt Hartz went from 225 to 277
Pat Stephenson is 240 (same as was listed last season, which, well, seems unlikely to say the least)
Freshman Andrew Benvenuto is 250

Average of 258.

Now, on average, this probably isn't any bigger than they were last season, because King and Mallon were like 290 each, it's nice to see there's no longer people drastically undersized on the line. Let's see how the look today

Good luck to the Bombers.  It would be nice to ruin Ithaca's Pool C Chances immediately.   ;)

I saw Cortland struggled a little with Buff State today. Buff State was actually up at the half, but Cortland was able to wear them down. Hopefully Fisher is watching.

Despite their best efforts at giving the game away, the Bombers managed to beat Brockport 19-14 today, in a brutally hot afternoon at Butterfield.

The quarterback job is apparently still not settled, as Neumann and Hendel began alternating drives. Neumann was pretty bad, going 16-of-30 for 194 yards, one score and three picks, one of which was not his fault, but one that was returned for a touchdown. He looked jittery, to say the least.

The score sheet doesn't really show it, but I was impressed by Sal Sulla. He doesn't go down easily on the first hit, and in the second half, really started to get into a groove.

The Bombers' offensive line is bigger, but not necessarily better. They did not open consistent holes, although the pass protection was okay.

The wide receivers were a mixed bag. A dropped pass cost them seven points, but there were some nice catches. Dan Ruffrage spent a decent amount of time on the sidelines in the second half. Looked like cramps/dehydration, but Bomber3 would know better. It was 90+ in Ithaca, so it's not surprising.

The special teams were a disaster. Andrew Rogowski was out, and the Bombers missed two extra points and a 24-yard field goal.

The defense is as good as advertised. A blown tackle thanks to two Bombers colliding led to an 81-yard touchdown pass, but other then that, Brockport simply did not move the ball at all: the Golden Eagles other 65 plays netted total 191 yards. Brockport's offense threw pretty much exclusively into the flat, as IC's two corners did a great job shutting down downfield routes. The Bombers accomplished this despite missing arguably their two best linebackers, Will Carter and Ryan Clarke.  I don't know what happened to Clarke, but Carter was apparently a game time call and was moving well on the sidelines.

Overall, some good spots, but the QB play looks pretty bad right now, and I think there's a lot of inexperience on the offense, save for Ruffrage. I hope some of this is just early season jitters, but I think the defense is going to need to carry the Bombers this year

Hartwick and Morrisville in a shockingly low scoring game...Wick up 14-11 with about 11 mins to go in the game, and Wick has the ball...

Well now that Notre Dame is in their second lightning delay, and they look about as bad as ever, I can start to look forward to Buff State/Fisher next weekend. Any news out there on what Buff State has? I was not at the Cortland game today, but followed it online for a stretch.

GO FISHER!!!

Any ideas on why gaulludet goes for two when down by one in OT? Really bad kicker?
