I have to admit I havent watched many bomber games this year.  How is the Ithaca QB getting his rushing yardage?  From a few series that I did see in the Hartwick game, Ithaca doesn't seem to run much inside zone where the QB gets the option to run.  It seemed like they still had that fullback/H back leadblocking for the running back with a pulling guard everyonce in a while.  This keeps teams honest where the WRs can make nice cuts and get open on the play action, but I still wonder whether or not it might be time to run some more spread with this team.

I think the question for the Fisher program is, can they return to the level they were at in 2006/2007? That's the tough thing

Well there has been a big drop in talent level for sure (the 2006 team had 3 players on the all decade team for D3football.com - Stepnick, Fortune, and Robinson). But, I think Fisher has been on a steady decline since Faggiano left the program. I hate to dote on him so much, but it seems like there is a direct link there.

I think Vos is a good in game coach, and knows how to win games, but I don't know if he can get the talent that he had a few years back when Blaise was doing most of the recruiting. You need both to win at that level consistently.
GO FISHER!!!

Cards,
While I respect Blaise for what he did- I also dont see Stepnick Robinson or Fortune esque talent at UC minus Acevedo who basically fell into Blaises lap.  Is he a good recruiter yes, but the sum of the parts have to be there.  Honestly where would you rather play now when taking all things into consideration?  Fisher makes a hell of a statement with its dedication to the Athletic Programs, and with a multi year deal worked out with the Bills, who knows what looms on the horizon....More growth?  Hell- you still have a golf course to use for expansion!

Hendel doesn't have the accuracy and decision making skills to run the spread, and the Bombers don't have the talent at WR

But they have the size to run the power game?  Or the accuracy to throw to 2-3 WRs per play?  The spread is zone blocking for undersized lines.  I think they should put some in.

I don't disagree 91. The point I was trying to make is that I don't know if Vos is a good enough recruiter, on his own, to get Fisher back to that real top level. I agree that Blaise has his flaws as a coach, but together (Blaise recruiting and Vos running the games) I think Fisher had something special. Once Vos had the talent on the field he did very well with it. However, before Blaise Vos was not getting those guys.
GO FISHER!!!

I would say no to both, but that's just me

Cards,
I agree that Blaise is a hell of a recruiter, but remember what he had to work with.
It is one thing to sell a Fisher, and a complete other selling UC.

Been lurking for a bit, but I gotta throw my two cents in on this one...

I personally went to Fisher because of Bud Simms, he's who recruited myself and Fortune.  Vosburgh recruited Buffalo so you can thank him for Stepnick.  Scacchetti had a hand in recruiting me as well as he handles Corning/Binghamton... I may stand corrected but I believe Blaise recruited the city of Rochester and parts of Syracuse but I could be wrong.

Regardless, players weren't chomping at the bit to go to Fisher b/c of Faggiano.  It was because of the Bills being there, rediculous facilities, and great programs offered by the school.... I barely knew the guy when heading to Fisher.

Hope everyone out there is doing well!  I'm living in DC now so it's been hard for me to keep up with what's going on at SJFC.  I'll be back in town next week though so i'm looking forward to stopping by the old stomping grounds.

well there ya have it....tough to debate them apples.....and all this time I thought it was 'our' record of 21-19 back in '82's day that 'recruited' the likes of Robinson, Ferenbach, Stepnick, etc.    ???

It was knowing we'd able to throw back a few cold ones w/ the likes of '82 and '91 after we graduated that brought us there  ;)

Hey Pep.  Since you are located in Mayberry, you usually have info we mere mortals do not.  ;) What's up with Secky?  Is there something physically wrong?  Is his mental game off kilter? What? He has never thrown so many balls so poorly.

On Saxon Warriors!!

Pep was away from Merrill on saterday, but I think when you have a rivalry game like Fred-Wick in such inclement weather, you gotta throw the record books out and just be happy for the W.  If there is anything wrong with Secky, my guess would be the injury to his hand when he lined up outside in wildcat formation against Fisher.  At least Pep gets his wish of not having to play as the favorite this weekend!
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Such a kiss-ass.  That said, stop lurking and start posting.  You're missed here.

I used to hate it when they would hand-off to you at Merrill.  You used to tear Alfred a you know what. Man, you used to eat us alive.  Hope all is well in DC.  Many years ago Northern Va. was my stomping grounds.  Spent a lot of time in D C raising cain.  Pep, I agree it is a familiar feeling actually to be the underdog this week.  I hope the Saxons relish it and come pumped up for a Merrill Field, Mayberry brawl!!

On Saxon Warriors!!
