it is very unlikely at this point, but not impossible....SJF could easily lose 2 conference games, ie: Salisbury and lets say, 'Wick, because it will be last game of season after a big downer loss to Salisbury with all the marbles on the line.  Then Salisbury loses to Wick this week in a huge upset at the cage and later loses to Frostburg also in the last game of the season after a week of celebrating their win over Fisher and what they thought was the E8 championship game.  Now AU wins out leaving SJF, Salsbury and AU all with 2 conference losses and the dreaded tie breaker.....thoughts?

And here I was just thinking I had this season figured...
GO FISHER!!!

Yes, and the Rapture was rescheduled for October 21st.  Therefore, anything can happen -- but I have a headache and this post didn't help.  ;)

I finally agree with Frank.

I guess they are sick of getting beat down year after year...

QuoteThe University of Rochester may be leaving the Courage Bowl, its annual charity football game against St. John Fisher.

The Division III game, played every September, benefits the cancer-stricken children of Camp Good Days and Special Times.

UR won the first seven meetings with Fisher from 1989-2001, but Fisher has won the past 10 – including all seven Courage Bowls. Fisher's average margin of victory in the Courage Bowl is 41-19, including 52-3 last month at Sahlen's Stadium. UR challenged Fisher in 2008 (24-17) and 2009 (35-33) but came up short.

Courage Bowl founder Gary Mervis, a volunteer kicking coach with Fisher and chairman/founder for Camp Good Days and Special Times, said UR officials told him they would conduct an "internal review" and get back to him. He said he has heard that UR may no longer want to play Fisher.

UR athletic director George VanderZwaag declined a request to comment for this story.

UR listed Sept. 15, 2012 — the scheduled date for Courage Bowl VIII — as an "open date" on the D3football.com Web site. The posting took place on Sept. 28, just eight days after Fisher's 49-point win over UR.

Mervis said he is "offended" by the Yellowjackets' potential departure.

"This is more than just a football game," he said. "This is about the children of Camp Good Days, and their experience dealing with the players and coaches. It's about making memories for them."

All proceeds from the annual game go to the children of Camp Good Days. Mervis said last month's game raised about $30,000.

Mervis vowed that the Courage Bowl will continue, with or without UR. He would prefer that the opponent be a local team, so that the children of Camp Good Days can enjoy the events leading up to the game, such as a luncheon and visits by the honorary captains and cheerleaders to team practices.
The views expressed in the above post do not represent the views of St. John Fisher College, their athletic department, their coaching staff or their players. I am an over zealous antagonist that does not have any current connection to the institution I attended.

This was mentioned previously, but I wonder if Brockport could take the place of UR in such an event.  It would be tough to commit to the same OOC game every year, but I suppose that's what Cortland does.

There's an easy way to solve that, join the E8 along with Buff State!

Obviously this seems like it could be more likely now that a state school has been allowed.  I have no idea what the program is planning, but I'd love that!  I always felt like Schools like Salisbury and Wesley could be in the NJAC (getting passed certain disagreements that I guess exist), while Buff State and Brockport would be in the E8.

I don't like that at all. I would really like to hear the reasoning behind getting away from that game? It can't just be that they get beat every year. What else can it be?

With Buff State's impending departure from the NJAC ... oh yeah, I see, that's really committing to the same two non-conference games every year because you would still be playing Buff State anyway, I'm sure.

I think so.  Sometimes I wish I still had any type of connection to the School, but it's fun to speculate!

dlippiel

Kind of bush league **** from U of R's end dont you think? As an LL guy this is very disappointing. Even though recently the games have not been close dlip still feels it gives U of R a great opportunity each year to play a very well respected opponemt in SJF and support chairty. Dlip would even think scheduling this game evey year would help recruiting in the Rochester area and the state as a whole. Well to dlip it is U of R's loss. ****'em and good luck to Fisher in the future with the game.
