How would you feel if you were a Bethel football player?  You beat St. Thomas last year and have to watch another 8-2 team get picked for the playoffs while you sit home and watch them get crushed by St. Thomas.  You were ranked #21 at the end of the regular season while SJF was not ranked at all.

It's not the 2010 playoffs we were selecting teams for.
based upon what I saw from watching both Bethel and St. John Fisher play St. Thomas in 2011, it's quite clear Bethel was the better than st. john fisher -first string qb or 4th string qb.  Back in October you picked Bethel v St. Thomas as your game of the week.  This past week you predicted St. Thomas 24 - SJF 10.  Certainly under the current criteria used to select pool c teams, SJF gets the nod over Bethel especially since Bethel was probably not even in consideration to be selected based upon their place in the regional rankings--but if SJF and Bethel were to be matched up against each other, I don't know how SJF could be favored.

you just dont get it do you? Go check and see what Salisbury did to AU in the reg season.  AU is a good, solid E8 squad that has won some NCAA playoff games in the past couple years.....You think based on the outcome, AU can beat noone then....you cannot read a definitive conclusion out of each and every contest between common opponents.  Matchups, home field, injuries, pressure, weather, untilely turnovers/mistakes.....everthing counts not just the name of school on paper.

BTW...The Tommies are for real....I really thought we got MUCinized on saterday.

That is the first time since 2002 SJF got pistol whipped by a team that was undisputedly better than SJF (other than MUC of course)

Bombers' return man Dan Ruffrage named to the East Region 1st team. This concludes the: "Good things from Ithaca College football for 2011" portion of our show.

Just wanted to drop a quick "congrats" to SJF and their fans.  Getting down to the last 8 is something to be proud of, and is a real accomplishment.

Running into a buzzsaw like St. Thomas and getting your a$$ handed to you is not a fun way to end the season, and certainly can leave a bitter taste, (see bethel getting crushed vs MUC in '07, and handled easily in '10) but it shouldn't take away from the pride of an otherwise successful year.

The long wait to fall 2012 begins...

82 there are not many posters whom dliip has ever come across that he feels are really not worth even getting into it with. To dlip, there is now one, AO. You might as well ****ing lay down face first on a cement side walk and talk yourself for 3 ****ing hours. dlip feels he is just not worth it. Especially when he comes on this thread and starts talking out of his ass about a 2011 team that did not make the playoffs and complains that they are/were more deserving of a bid than a team that defeated two undefeated teams, on the road, in rounds 1 and 2.

Again, this has nothing to do with why Fisher deserved to be selected to the playoffs (even though I think they did)

I let your pre-game predictions of SJF giving St. Thomas their toughest test after a weak schedule annoy me a bit too much.  Even if you're unwilling to concede their might have been better teams left out in favor of Fisher, I can see most of you at least respect the reality of your defeat against St. Thomas and I won't ask for more.  Good luck in 2012.

Congrats to Coach Vos- East Region Coach of the Year!

I will second that. I think this is Coach Vos's best job at SJF. I really did not expect much this year, and was happy to see the development and adjustments that got this team as far as it went.

I was surprised Dan Pitcher was not selected as the East Region offensive POY, but I have to admit I know nothing about the player selected. I just figured with Pitcher being a Gagliardi trophy finalist it was in the bag.
GO FISHER!!!

Big surprise too for us Cortland folks but I never saw Gallo play.  It's just odd that he wasn't even the offensive POY in the LL.  Still wishing Dan luck in the Gagliardi.  He had an outstanding year and He's a great "kid".... They are all kids to an old guy like me.

Dan Pitcher's grandfather was my football and basketball coach in high school.  I played football and basketball with his father Mike.  Outstanding family,  best of luck with the Gagliardi voting.

True, but his 4.08 GPA isn't a factor for one of those awards.

Nah Max is usually level headed, he's not an Ithaca poster who looks for whatever shot he can take at Fisher.

Personally I wish there was no trash talking on both sides leading up to that game.  It made yesterday that much worse for me...though admittedly if we were to win it probably would have made it that much sweeter.  I think I'm just frustrated that Fisher didn't play the way they played in the two previous playoff games.  They were playing mistake free and it was fun to watch.  Yesterday, not so much.  No disagreement that St. Thomas was better - but Fisher could have played them a hell of a lot tougher than that.

Bhgy,

The trash talking did not make the victory any sweeter for me. I found/generally find pre game trash talking on these boards to be ridiculous (except of course with SJU fans) and I typically will not indulge. Apologies to the SJF fans for the bad taste left in your mouths after the loss, but someone has to go home with it. Would've preferred to see you at full strength and come out of the game injury free giving The Toms all you had, but perhaps that opportunity will come in the future. I know how it feels-was ready to puke last year when Bethel knocked us out. I hope those that had the opportunity to come to St. Paul enjoyed their time and that time will heal the wounds for those who left feeling slighted by the course of events later in the game. I can tell you that in absolutely NO WAY was any of it meant as a means of disrespect from GC & staff. I won't speculate as to their motivations because it would simply be conjecture, but I can confidently tell you that they have more class then to disrespect an opponent. Cheers! :)
