Hey everyone. I was jumping on to post on the baseball page and realized I have been away from football and basketball for way too long. Hope everyone is doing well. I am ready for some football already. I can't wait for the home opener under the lights!!!!!

Finally!!! (on two fronts)

http://www.brockport.edu/newsbureau/1713.html (Brockport Joins E8 for football in 2014)

http://www.brockport.edu/newsbureau/1714.html (Brockport to improve football field and stadium -- Including installation of lights and synthetic turf)

Exciting news...  Any thoughts? Especially on joining the E8... certainly a long time coming.

According to the Brockort website the Eagles will be joining the E8 in 2014...

Damn, PG beat me to it...

I think it's great for Port w/ no more long trips to NJ and obviously it's great for the E8.  They'll be able to keep the AQ and hopefully it leads to Cortland's joining the conference...

This is a great thing for both Bport and the E8.
Too bad it took this long.

Looks like things are shaping up for the E8!!

Yay! The Empire 8 (in football) will actually consist of all teams from the Empire State!  Now, if Alfred State gains admittance in the NCAA, we could have an E8 that truly is an E8.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Awesome news about Brockport joining the E8. It makes a ton of sense for all involved. Now the E8 should go get Cortland out of the Mac and the league can be that much better.

Cortland in the E8 would make it an incredibly powerful league. Also, getting the chance to ruin the Red Dragons' bid for a NCAA spot from our perch in 4th/5th place would be awesome.

The league would be great if C state were to join. Forget 4/5 games. How about Cortaca with an NCAA bid on the line?

Just posted the following over on the NJAC  ......and will add here that Cortland and Ithaca will continue their rivalry. Through tough scheduling times, IC has always been there for the Red Dragons. As many as 60 years ago Cortland officials attempted to gather NY colleges into a conference up and down the Thruway ......

Am sure Cortland has been courted (for Empire 8 play).....absolutely. Just like they should have been courted years ago .....like when they couldn't get enough games with state public schools to fill out a schedule. Uh, check with Alfred ......uh, check with Hartwick. Corts went out of state. The NJAC offered them a chance to play in a very respectable conference at a time when only Jersey schools (public for the most part) were members. Don't know when Cortland will get over being stiffed by NYers ......maybe not in Coach Mac's time. We shall see.  We get a big kick out of Empire 8 wooing Buffalo State and Bports. Gotta have those NCAA tourney numbers ......

The NJAC has always been only Public schools, never any private schools in the conf.  Even look at the associate members for football, all public.

To clarify ............like when they couldn't get enough games with state private schools to fill out a schedule. Uh, check with Alfred .......uh, check with Hartwick.

And, yes, we should have noted only publics in NJAC. But that was not my point. More directed to private NY collegians
