Cards- Not knowing when you graduated from SJFC, ill assume it wasnt near when I was there...But many of us from Classes 1988-1992 think that many of the newer alumni are soft....We had to go downtown to Nicks to get a plate.....Fight the hookers, coke heads and pimps, not to mention the other undesireables just to get a plate..... :P

2004. Most of my soft parts are directly related to eating all of those plates from down the street.

I went downtown for a plate once...ONCE. Yikes...

I teach a media writing course at IC and gave my students an assignment to do an ad for their hometown. Both of the students from Rochester featured garbage plates in their ads. I love those things

Pep is planning to attend the Gorham Pageant of Bands tomorrow, scouting out prospects for AU Pep Band! Pep will be a first-time spectator at the 51-year-old event in Gorham, known as "The Bandstand of the Finger Lakes."

While no official word on AU recruits has been released to date, Pep has it from a good source that Pittsburgh, PA area LB Desmond "Deac" Davis plans to become a Saxon Warrior. The 5-11 225-lb. MLB who also played at center, DE and DL for his Monessen high school team, accompanied his father, Pastor Terry Davis, to Alfred during a prophetic weekend at Pep's church and, apparently, decided Alfred was where he wants to be. Pep is pleased because Davis doubles as a dynamite drummer. If he doesn't earn PT with the Saxon varsity, who knows, he may be on the drums with the band!

On Saxon Warriors!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Good one, fisherfanatic99! +K

Funny, that post conjures up memories of a Fisher athlete who turns out was a "wannabe drummer" at a playoff game a few years back.

Yikes
that wannabe drummer will never stop making me cringe!

Haha, Fisher's "Little Drummer Boy!"  Good times.

I'm also reminded of a certain trumpter who was overlooked by the Cardinals and broke all the passing records down in Mayberry after transferring.  So, feel free to ignore your musically inclined football players up at Growney.

Word on the my street is that Coach Welch is working hard to surround Scavo with talent.  I have to imagine his arrival may be a good recruiting tool for skill positions.

Sounds like Cody Bennett of local Tioga will be a Bomber next year.  Scavo was the Class B Player of the Year, while Bennett was a first team running back in Class D. He ran for 360 something yards in the state quarterfinals.  Rumor has him coming as a wideout though... he didn't have many chances to catch the ball in his school's wishbone offense.  He has the reputation of being pretty darn quick.  Quick research shows a 4.67 40 time at a local combine.  Is this fast?

Anyway, good to heard Coach Welch pursuing local talent as that hasn't always seemed to be the case in the past.  My hunch is that Bennett's coach, Nick "The Kick" Aiello may have played a role with a friendly nudge of his speedster towards South Hill.

Perhaps some things to look forward to!
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

4.67 speed is not fast... but game speed is all that matters in football

Pep doesn't recall what his 40 time was but a few years back, AU RB Vinson Hendrix had the Saxon squad's fastest 40 time. At the gym playing some pick-up basketball, Pep challenged Hendrix to a race "to the bleachers and back." It was no contest. Pep won. (Either Hendrix wouldn't accept the challenge or he was so fast Pep never even saw him).

Just goes to show you those 40 speeds aren't all what they're cracked up to be. When the old fart playing the bass drum in the pep band can beat the team's fastest player, you conclude that it's going to be a long season.

I caught some of the empire classic on tv yesterday. Several of the players are headed to upstate schools. Here is a link to the rosters and their school selections. Fisher, AU, IC, Hobart, and Cortland look to be well represented.

Even though not well represented as the aforementioned schools, Salisbury University was represented as well.

Yes cards... the two linebackers going to Fisher looked strong.  They both played pretty well, but these games are hard to tell or see anything from because none of these kids have played since the fall.  We are only months away from camp though and I cannot wait.
