Since Emmert is now going after schools who hid and covered up rapes.... Many are now going to question and assume that the ncaa is going to lower to hammer on University of Washington since they covered up rape including 1 case when Emmert was PRESIDENT at university of washington... OK ncaa you can't pick and choose everyone gets the same treatment correct???

I hear ya utes...was good to see bob ley actually make him squirm on outside the lines yesterday. Also I assume he is going to hammer syracuse since bernie fine was taking young boys on road trips to abuse them.... Also interesting quote from Mr. Emmert when he as Chancellor at LSU...
"The critical role of our football program is clear: it is of vital
importance to the entire community: Our students, our fans and alumni
worldwide and the state of Louisiana. Simply put, success in LSU football is essential for the success of Louisiana State University."

Yet he ripped PSU apart for putting "winning and success" above everything else...hmmm interesting quotes opposing each other...Guy is sleezy as they come

It will also be interesting to see how the general college football fan reacts to Penn State football in terms of supporting or hating the team.  I tell ya what, I'm going to be routing for them in every game they play in.

Saw O'Brien said some coaches were classy and asked if it were ok to contact certain players....O'Brien told those coaches go right ahead. He said other coaches were going directly to all the players and poaching everything they could and saying/doing things very much under the table...(Ummm hello Urban Meyer)

I thought the NCAA regulations prohibited coaches from contacting the players first in a situation like this, that the player had to initiate contact.

I think the NCAA gave these players carte blance to do whatever they want without any sort of recruiting rules restricting them or the schools recruiting them (except for the obvious no-no like cash/gift type stuff).  It was more about the players than the other schools.  It basically keeps Penn State out of the current players business.

The only objection I have to that statement is that the NCAA has not allowed the other schools to have additional scholarships to give to Penn State players that may want to transfer. So if a kid from PSU wants to leave and go to his second choice, let's say Pittsburgh, but Pitt doesn't have any scholarships to give that player he is out of luck. I think the players should be able to go where they want, so schools should be allowed to get transferring PSU players in addition to scholorship limits.

Not 100% sure but I do believe that was waived. So all teams at their scholie limit can still bring players on and not be in violation. It was pretty far down in the ncaa press release but if my memory is correct (too lazy to go check and reread the presser but I am pretty confident)

Can't wait until d3 football conversation picks back up again.  I know it is either this or dead air right now...but I am sick of all things Penn State.

Anybody have any info on Hartwick's 3rd string db's this year?  Looking good?

Looks like they still might be working that out, because some teams save a few of the 85 full rides for future years if they don't get what they want.  This is an excerpt from an Ol' Miss website:

The Rebels have multiple scholarships available after signing only 18 players in the class of 2012, so they are in a better position that most to accept last-minute transfers.
But the NCAA and the Big Ten are considering bending existing rules that would allow more teams to be involved at this late date - players will report for practice at most schools next week.
The NCAA may waive the 85-man scholarship limit for programs the players are transferring to, allowing each to essentially borrow against the class of 25 it could sign in the class of 2013. If you took two players now, you could sign only 23 in February - but have 87 players on scholarship for the 2012 season.
The Big Ten will also look at allowing players to transfer to other schools within the conference. The Big Ten has long had a policy against inter-conference transfers.

"We had a discussion of that issue (Sunday) among the presidents," Big Ten commissioner Jim Delaney told reporters. "Their first thought on it - they're students first and athletes second. ... On first blush, our orientation would be to support as much freedom as possible

I hope WNEC/Endicott/Salve are only there because of playoff related Pool A consideration.  These teams still can't be considered true top 10 Programs.  MAYBE top 15 or top 20, but not top 10.

Hmmm, didn't hear Lane Kiffin's name on that list of coaches who called O'Brien either.

Good picks...I probably should of put salisbury in the poll....I put kean in just because I like the direction that program is heading and they are my kind of sleeper pick

fisherfanatic99

My top 5....

1. Wesley
2. DVC (weaker league)
3. Fisher (beats Salisbury this year coming off a bye week and at home)
4. Kean (even though the NJAC is always a toss up at the top)
5. Salisbury (Whoever wins them v. Fisher flip flops positions-- I think Fisher will lose a game this year but not to SU)
6. Hobart (running backs are good and defensively they are solid-- again will benefit from a weaker league)

The other two teams come from the crap leagues who aren't really good enough, just get automatic bids from their league.

To answer the above question about Fisher's team speed.  I don't know how fast or slow they are.  They are solid football players and play football the right way.  They definitely have some athletes and game changers, however I don't see them having anyone where you just say wow to when they run.  Kramer and Miller are very productive on offense and I'd take them on any team anywhere.  Leavell leads the defense and is another solid football player leading a solid side of the ball.  The biggest things Fisher has going for them is they are tough, they know how to play the game, and they are good football players
