Also, unless you were at the game last year between these two teams you wouldn't know how it went.  Fisher stood toe to toe with the Gulls (were close in total yards (437 to 404), Fisher won the time of possession)  just SJF could not score in the red zone.  They were 1 for 5 while Salisbury went 4 for 4.  This game was closer than the people on here that just looked at the 41-21 score at the end of the game.  Salisbury was the better team but in no ways did they dominate the game.

Dang it, AU went toe-to-butt with the Gulls last year, too. Were it not for the five Saxon turnovers and the 2-of-14 on 3rd downs, the game was really much closer than the 69-0 score indicated.  ;)

Let's pack the music to the fight song and hope we can play it at Salisbury this season!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

I think Fisher will be good, but Salisbury's only two losses last season were on the road to the National Champion and semifinalist. And it's not like they didn't put a hurting on the Cardinals last year.

The whole two weeks to prepare for the triple option thing makes no sense to me. Hasn't Fisher played Springfield the last eight seasons? It's not like these guys will be clueless. Yeah, the freshman may need to adjust, but it's not like E8 teams have never seen a triple option before. Salisbury beat the E8 soundly last year because they were just better—much like I anticipate they will be this year too

I was just referring to this saying that SU didn't put a hurting on Fisher and no way beat them soundly.  I guess I have my own perspective on a football game, but when total yards and time of possession are equal and the score is lopsided with one team going 1 for 5 in the red zone with the other 5 for 5 there is more to the game than just a 41-21 score.  Fisher shot themselves in the foot too much to win that ball game.  I do think SU was a better team, but not as much as I feel a couple of posters think they were.  Last year was too up and down for Fisher.  One week they looked good, the next they looked terrible.  When playing their best, they were the only team in the E8 who could compete toe to toe with Salisbury though.  And I think that is the same truth to this season.

I remain convinced that there was something going on in that game that we won't find out about until Tom Secky writes a tell-all book. Salisbury was nasty last season, but they're not 10 TD's better than Alfred unless something strange is happening. Was there some sort of body-switching going on? Was it a piece of performance art? Was Secky's brain hijacked a la "The Manchurian Candidate"? Did someone place a curse on the Saxon athletic department? Fishy, fishy, stuff going on that week.

When dlip saw that score last year he was ****ing shocked. Not that the Gulls won, but by the margin in which won by. Some crazy shiat must have been in the air that day. That may have been dlip's "moon river" moment of 2011.

Wasn't that the game when Secky was flagged for chucking a ball at a Gulls player after being run out of bounds?
The views expressed in the above post do not represent the views of St. John Fisher College, their athletic department, their coaching staff or their players. I am an over zealous antagonist that does not have any current connection to the institution I attended.

Yes, which made it even more inexplicable, because it was like 55-0 at the time. I don't think we'll ever see a stranger game than that one in the E8

I love that we are talking this much about the e8!
I think that Sals. is going to be strong, but Im with 99 on this.
My gut tells me that Fisher wins head to head this year.
OOC is going to be really tough this year.
I love that they scheduled these tough games.
Cant wait for the season to start!!!!

Wish I could add a little on this but to be honest, Im out of the game with the new additions to the E8. I saw the ugly score from Sals. over AU last year and was a little shocked. Anyone have any good info to catch me up to speed? Stud qb? Workhorse runningback? Anything for the upcoming season on these guys would be appreciated.

Maybe Im a Fisher homer and I make no bones about it.....but Buff State ahead of Fisher?
Of all teams I thought that Fisher would rebound best after graduation..
I have high hopes for this years team....Hell, I would have begged, begged for an elite 8 bid.....
This team could do the same! imho

I am with you fisheralum.  I have high high hopes for the fisher squad this year.  I just looked at their schedule and said I don't think anybody could beat them but who could maybe surprise them (It's hard to predict 10-0, and almost impossible to do in the E8).  That's why I said Buff St could be a loss.  I do think they beat Salisbury, Alfred, Utica, Hartwick, Frostburg, and Ithaca.  Maybe their first week game might be the toughest?

I feel like if you were an Ithaca fan, we'd be calling you "arrogant" ;) .

Fisher's going to be good, but Thomas More is going to be good too, and I wouldn't sleep on Washington & Jefferson either. Prior to last season, all they did was win 9 to 11 games *every* season. They're bringing back a decent amount of offensive talent, and that game's on the road. Salisbury's not too shabby either, and they beat SJF pretty handily last year. I think it's highly unlikely they win all three of those games.

I think Fisher finishes 2nd in the E8 behind Salisbury, and loses one of those two OOC games. 8-2, and high on the list for a Pool C

I think that sounds fair, but I would not be shocked if Fisher won all three, or more likely 2 of 3. Fisher has had success in the past out of conference, and beating JHU and Del Val last year has me, like most Fisher fans thinking they can get through the first two weeks without a loss.

Fisher should be in the mix for the E8, and a bid to the tourney. Fisher has never gone 10-0, so I doubt it will happen this year, but Fisher has a lot to be excited about.
GO FISHER!!!

Dlip would really like to see the Gulls defeat Wesley this season. That is a helluva team to battle year in and year out. Let's hope the Gulls do it this year. Like dlip said before, the Gulls/Fisher match up is the E8 game of the year.

Great day for the E8!

Definitely nice to see Salisbury and SJF high up there to begin the season. Dlip thinks they both belong that high (for the most part) and hopes to see both move up as the season progresses. Nice to see 6 east region teams get into the poll as well. Watch out for Widener, they may be for real.
