I had a thought on the best single moment of the last ten years. As a Fisher fan, I don't think much will ever top Jimmy Smith's punt return against Rowan to open the scoring in that East Region Final. Growney was packed and as loud as I have ever heard it that day, and that was the signature moment of that game. The game ended up being a rout, but that first TD was just awesome.

Pep was at that game with Kaz00 and Lurch from the band. How do you spell B-O-R-I-N-G? Rowan brought nothing. No spark. No spunk. No spirit. One fat fan. Profs skipped class. Pep had anticipated a dog fight. Instead, it was a Garbage Plate that highlighted the day.  ;)

On Saxon Warriors!

What I remember about that game was that it was in the 60s all week leading up to the game, so it was probably in the 70s down in Glassboro.  Then Friday night a cold front came in and it was 20 with a strong breeze by saterday.  I still feel like Rowan was half-defeated when they stepped off the bus.

Makes me think about the worst conditions for a game that you have ever been to. I am aware that many games (including RPI-Ithaca) have been worse, but the worst conditions overall I encountered was the Brockport-Springfield Playoff game in 2002. Although conditions at the game itself weren't THAT bad (although it was really cold), what happened the night before had a profound effect. The field was a disaster, and springfield's option was useless. Brockport won 16-0. As a spectator, the stands were pretty much a sheet of ice, which meant it was an adventure just attempting to watch the game.

The ineptness of the game is shown here in the game stats (note this is the season Brockport made its run to the Regional Final with their 2nd/3rd string quarterbacks): http://www.springfieldcollege.edu/homepage/athletics.nsf/0/f0412bb07304d88f45256d9d001b1c96/$FILE/1125brsc.htm

If they were that weak-minded because of a drop in temperature that both teams had to endure then they deserved every bit of what happened to them.

Seriously. Ithaca and RPI played it a freaking blizzard in 2003 (One of the best games in the east region in the last 10 years)

My wife was attending IC when that game was played, and helped edit some of the film from that game. I watched a lot of it with here, and it was awesome to watch. Something about football in the snow that is just cooler than regular football. It was a great game for sure.
GO FISHER!!!

I think it's awesome that you married an IC girl. I once briefly dated a girl who spent time at both Fisher and Cortland. The first part I could handle. The second...eh. When she wore a Cortland shirt to my apartment, I knew it wasn't meant to be

For you, I'm sure, considering IC's won what, once since she graduated?

Okay, since Pep hasn't seen an Empire 8 Coaches Pre-Season Poll yet, Pep is going out on a limb, jump the gun and predict the final E8 standings for the 2012 season. Here goes Pep's Picks:
PEP'S PICKS
EMPIRE 8 2012 FOOTBALL STANDINGS
          E8      Overall
Salisbury State   7-0   9-1
St. John Fisher   6-1   9-1
Buffalo State   5-2   6-4
Alfred University   4-3   6-3
Ithaca College   3-4   5-5
Frostburg State   2-5   5-5
Utica College   1-6   2-8
Hartwick College   0-7   3-7

SALISBURY: Lone loss to national power and long-time Rt. 13 rival Wesley. Gulls sweep the Empire 8 once again.
ST. JOHN FISHER: A loss to Salisbury at Growney Stadium is the Cardinals' only blemish as they publish the sequel to their 2011 Cinderella season.
BUFFALO STATE: While losses to Salisbury and St. John Fisher keep the rising Bengals out of the NCAAs, ambitious scheduling is posturing Boyes' Bengals for a promising future.
ALFRED: With holes to fill, the Saxons falter at Buffalo State. Wins over RPI, SLU, Ithaca, Utica, Frostburg and Hartwick give AU still another ECAC bowl game.
ITHACA: Bomber struggle with Fisher continues. Losses to E8 foes Salisbury, Buffalo State and at Alfred are overshadowed by a victory in Cortaca!
FROSTBURG STATE: With wins over Utica and Hartwick, non-conference wins over Case, Geneva and Waynsesburg, the Bobcats finish 5-5.
UTICA: Utica loses some key talent after a 5-5 season. Program continues to grow but E8 remains strong and rugged LL foes don't help matters. Wins over Hartwick and St. Lawrence.
HARTWICK: Hawks start hot with non-conference wins over Husson, Mooville and Becker, none of which matches the caliber of play in the E8.

Okay, now rip it apart!

Get the fight song ready!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Pretty nice pep, goodness you Alfred guys role classy :D dlip likes your picks. This season dlip will be watching the Bengals of Buffalo State quite closely. Dlip loves their aggressive scheduling and gets the vibe from some he has spoken with that they are quite serious about not only getting the program back to respectability but becoming serious players in the region year in and out. The only thing dlip sees differently is the order of Buff St, Alfred, and Ithaca. Dlip would drop Buff to 5th and push up Alfred and IC. dlip also thinks this may be the year the Gulls take down their rival Wesley. Dlip also threw up his season outlook for Union on his blog. That's cool - the video interviewed an incoming freshman for a moment which is great because I always have difficulty trying to learn about new recruits.  He's a 6'1 200 pound QB from Atlanta who is a duel threat to pass or run.  Don't know when he will get his chance to play but I always like it when we get recruits well out of the region.

Here is a highlight video of him.
