Really wondering about the QB from Georgia, how in the hell did they get a kid from way down there?

He looks like a good athlete, good arm.  Will be interesting to see if he can come in and get playing time right away.

Seriously, though -- Doing a quick search of his name shows that his father (or some relative) is an alumnus of Fisher. That is probably your answer.

dlippiel

This reminds dlip of Mike Hermann out of RPI. Hermann who hails from South Carolina came to RPI and it baffled dlip. "How the **** does RPI get a QB of that size from South Carolina?" dlip later found out that Mike attended prep school in NE (Avon). When these southern players show up at east region schools there is usually an inside track that gets them up here. dlip knows Union has a decent line into Florida (Chirs Coney is one who comes to mind) and he has seen some other recrutis from far off hit some East Region schools as well. dlip guesses his point is that these kids get connected somehow through alum or other specific channels. dlip can't imagine that alot of Northeastern d3 schools are well known down south (he could be completely wrong though). He wishes this kid from Georgia all the luck in the world. That was a great little interview and clip about the SJF players coming into camp.

The D3 schools are definitely not well known, other than the academically well known schools like Amherst or MIT. Ithaca is pretty well known for a variety of different reasons. But other than that people here definitely don't know much about Northeastern small schools.

Yeah, sometimes it's just luck. Ithaca got a NAIA-quality basketball player from Georgia because his HS coach knew about this area. (Of course, he got homesick and took off after a year, but still)

Same thing happened with Fisher in basketball with a kid from Colorado. It is great to get them, but it seems really hard to keep them once you have them.

I think that sometimes the culture shock is just too much for the kids. My nephew's best friend growing up in the Philly area went down to Clemson, but he felt like a fish out of water the whole time and transferred to a school back home after his freshman year.

Tiger- you are right.
With a school like Fisher, most of the student body is from Upstate NY.
The culture difference between Atlanta and upstate can be daunting.

Salisbury is set to play Gallaudet next Saturday 8/25/12. I'll update on place and gametime soon.

Upstate,
I saw the highlight reel and it was nice, but the guy would have to be Boltus esque in order to unseat Kramer.
He could be our future, but dont think for a minute that he is going to be a starter.

I tought he looked good on the video as well, and that is some good high school football down in GA. Excited to see if he can crack into the lineup, but agree it is really tough with Kramer entrenched like he is. If he is good enough to start, Fisher just got a lot better!

Haven't we seen this story before?  Fisher ignores a QB his frosh year and then he mozies on down 390 to lead the Saxons for his final three years...
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

A better question is, are the Fisher guys ever going to use his name, or are they just going to call him variations on "The QB from Georgia" for four years? I vote for the latter. But then again, I think Hartwick should be permanently referred to as "Team Boltus." Also, I really want to call Salisbury "Springfield 2.0," the Bombers' "The Artist Formerly Known as Ithaca College," and UC "Arriving Utica". I don't have anything for Fisher, Frostburg, Buff State, or Alfred yet though.
