Spent the morning at growney stadium today watching the cardinals practice ... it is still too early in camp to tell but I had some initial thoughts. First Fisher is gigantic.  I counted over 150 of them and they had some big boys out there . Offensively two things were visible. Kramer actually looks like a quarterback throwing the ball and him and miller looked big. Miller put on some obvious muscle. Wide receivers were up and down but two big targets I  didn't  recognize did well on the second and  third team (maybe transfers) Also didn't know who was at right tackle but kid looked big. Defensively their d line was huge and linebackers looked fast. As I said too early but these were some things I noticed from off the field

Upstate,
I saw the highlight reel and it was nice, but the guy would have to be Boltus esque in order to unseat Kramer.
He could be our future, but dont think for a minute that he is going to be a starter.

I tought he looked good on the video as well, and that is some good high school football down in GA. Excited to see if he can crack into the lineup, but agree it is really tough with Kramer entrenched like he is. If he is good enough to start, Fisher just got a lot better!

Haven't we seen this story before?  Fisher ignores a QB his frosh year and then he mozies on down 390 to lead the Saxons for his final three years...

A better question is, are the Fisher guys ever going to use his name, or are they just going to call him variations on "The QB from Georgia" for four years? I vote for the latter. But then again, I think Hartwick should be permanently referred to as "Team Boltus." Also, I really want to call Salisbury "Springfield 2.0," the Bombers' "The Artist Formerly Known as Ithaca College," and UC "Arriving Utica". I don't have anything for Fisher, Frostburg, Buff State, or Alfred yet though.

Well Alfred should be Mayberry U, Fisher is most definitely St. John's Fissure, and I think Utica's would sound better reversed as Utica Arriving.  Nothing for Frostburg or Buff State either.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

I remember hearing that Fisher was supposedly getting a transfer in at Right Tackle, from Alfred I think.  Not sure if he's any good, but just something i heard.

I'm planning on going to the scrimmage vs Alfred State, which will be kind of cool seeing both of the colleges I played football for on the same field.  Hope to see you there!

I'll gladly take him transferring so "Fissure" goes 2-1 vs AU and outscores them 87-44 over that time frame...

Is anyone else here getting really excited for the season? As dlip sits out on Cape Cod with his family he can hardly wait to return to Shocktown to see the Dutchmen at camp! Thanks for the write up on Fisher camp today fanatic. Dlip's d3 obsession has officially begun. He loves the fact that so many here feel similar about d3 football. Round of k boys.

Always excited for Bomber football, even when the team is terrible. I think it's going to be a very interesting E8 season, and (as always) I am hoping someone, anyone, beats Whitewater or Mount.

Two notes from a friend of mine who saw The Artist Formerly-Known as Ithaca today:

"They've got a great-looking freshman RB. He just fumbled his first carry." I actually think he's high on the kid, but I do hope that's not a harbinger of things to come.

"Hendel always looks really good wearing the red jersey when no-one can touch him." There's probably a Cortland joke in here I'm missing

Pep is thinking something along the lines of "Bengal Boyes" for Buffalo State. Without him, the Bengals had no bite...heck, they could seldom muster a snarl.

Welcome to Pittsford, NY!!! As a Fisher fan I know I feel the same way about having Thomas More come to town. Fisher has gone out and scheduled quality teams in the past (MUC comes to mind), and I think both teams will benefit from the game.

Any Thomas More faithful making the trip to Rochester?

So Pep was running some errands around campus....returning a lost key to Res Life...making cafe coffee sales deposit...stopped in (unannounced) to welcome AU SID Paul Vecchio aboard and negotiate the Pep Band's lucrative contract...and couldn't help but notice the McLane Center parking lot filled with cars. Apparently there are 90 new recruits and another 120+ returning football players moving in today(?)

Some observations: they all appeared very slow. They could hardly move. They were all just sort of standing around. They weren't very big. Then one-by-one, they'd go and sit on a physician's examination table. Pep thinks they may have some health issues. It could be a very long season.   :P

Just kidding...Pep was looking at some 1950s-1960s football programs and back then, AU was fortunate to have linemen in excess of 200 lbs. Times have changed. "Small college football" has gotten bigger, faster, stronger....amazing!
