I'll be in Rochester all weekend for work so I'm dropping down to growney this morning and tomorrow to get better looks at the team. I'll send an update out later. Anyone have anything they want me to look at/for?

I am wondering about this Juwan Douglas kid. Big fast RB from sweethome. I am planning on going to the scrimmage next weekend, but any report would be appreciated.

Not sure if I had the right kid but big black rb ( only one in) played with the young squad and looked real slow and not very impressive . On the upside the offense was resting some receivers which led to a freshman slot getting reps with the first team. I'm pretty sure I heard campese. Looked online and.bobby campese is east Syracuse minoa. He looked good and was making some good plays. He definitely looked good and comfortable for being a freshman on the first team a week into camp.

Heard from some sources I trust that Scavo has decided not to play football and will focus on baseball instead. While this is not confirmed, as I said, I've heard it from people who tend to be right about these things. It's also plausible on its face. I heard that Ithaca's baseball team was a contributing factor to him coming to the South Hill in the first place.

If this is true, it's a huge blow to the Bombers' offense. Unless there's another impact freshman on the roster/JV team, the quarterback play again figures to be a weakness for the team in the coming seasons. Kudos to the kid for making a decision, and I wish him the best of luck on the baseball team, but it's disappointing to hear as a football fan

Saw this and thought it was fun. I know we have talked about uniforms on here before, but it looks like ESPN is taking a look at every team in the big 4 pro sports:

Pep can confirm, also from a reliable source, that Scavo left IC's preseason camp. While Pep had hoped the prodigal had come to his senses and decided to come "home" to Mayberry, apparently Pep's initial thought that Scavo was more interested in playing baseball than football (hence the IC choice), was pretty close to the truth. But then, what does Pep, a 56-year-old kazoo player and bass drum beater, know what goes on between the ears of an 18-year-old gifted athlete?

At least we kept him from AU and SJF. Small favors right?

Wait, is our Pep Band Prez lurking these boards?!?
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

dlippiel

Dlip was thinking Scavo might have gotton the job at QB if he stayed. Well, dlip wishes the kid luck and respects his ability to make a tough decision like that at the age of 18.

Pep doubts the pep prexy's perusing pigskin postings, but Pep nevertheless thought it might be fun to beam him up.

The coaches preseason poll is finally out. About what I would have expected:

So everyone picked Salisbury and Salisbury picked Fisher. Definitely makes sense to me.

I think coaches are sleeping on Buff St. a little bit. Wouldn't surprise me to see them ahead of Ithaca, and challenging Alfred.

Agreed. Boyes can flat out coach and the Buff State teams I have seen the last two years have been far better than the few years before his return. Even more scary is how much they jumped from year to year. I think they will be a lot better this season.
