They will come out of the hole pretty soon.

Not if their QB's keep quitting the team...

I'm sorry but I don't have a lot of respect for this decision.  Say what you want, I understand the kids choice was his.  But my senior year I battled and ultimately lost to an incoming freshman (secky) and believe me, I wanted to quit.  I felt I had won the job.  But it wasn't up to me.  It was the coaches decision and what was best for the team.  But either way, you gut it out.  It's about the teammates, friends, and family you've made over the course of your career.  When it comes down to it, this kid could have contributed some way.  He didn't need to be on the field taking snaps to be a leader.

Well this entire exchange came out of left field.

I'm sure there are pockets of people across the country who have heard of Ithaca and it is definitely more widely known than Fisher but let's not make it out like they are nationally recognized by the majority of prospective college students in the nation.  I'm sure they have a fine alumni network established which attributes to these random run ins.  I'm willing to bet if people look up the town where Cornell is located and they find it's Ithaca most of them will think "where and what the hell is Ithaca?" as opposed to "Oh wow so Ithaca has Cornell and Ithaca College".

Butttttt none of this has anything to do with football really.  Ithaca will be back on their feet soon enough.  It's difficult to say if they'll ever return to national championship contending form, because well look at all the other programs that made Stagg Bowl games in the past to never reach that level again.  At least they made it there and won 3 championships.  If Fisher did that I would talk about it until my dying day.  They could easily return to the level Fisher is currently at.  Quickly.

All of that being said - I do so enjoy beating them every year    :D

Really looking forward to the game tomorrow!  It's always fun to see new teams.

Oh p.s.  that one poster from the LL who I think is a U of R supporter (Ethelred) is sooooooooo bitter towards Saint John Fisher.  You can just feel it in his posts.  Don't worry my man only one more ass kicking to endure and then the nightmare ends.

I don't think he's that bitter (maybe a little bit) but he's definitely not happy with UofR's results...

I think this might be Greene's last year at UofR, got to think that if he doesn't beat SJF this year he's toast...

However it has been kind of funny that some of the worst SJF teams of the past decade have completely destroyed UofR while some of the best teams squeak by them...

I live in GA and Ithaca is probably one of the only D3 schools (that isn't Lagrange, and even that's questionable) that anyone would have ever heard of here (as I stated a couple weeks back, along with some of the highly rated academic schools).

And the fact that there are schools that exist below the D1 level seems to baffle some here  :P

There are a great many things that baffle a great many people in Georgia.

Me?  Bitter?  pfffftt

I have no rooting interest in UofR football beyond knowing a couple of kids that played there and my sons friendship with some of the players while he was there. (I also know some guys that played for Fisher)  From what he told me, a change in coaches would have been welcome.  But he graduated in '11, so I have no idea what the current climate is.  Now Fisher/UofR basketball (my sons sport)....that's a topic for another board.

on a different subject-- i dont know about the other fisher guys- but this Rochester game gives me the willies---just like it does every year

no matter what the rankings or standings say-- this game is always close and this one may be too close

Regardless of the outcome, the Courage Bowl is a great idea.  Seems like it could be done in other places as well.  That being said.....Go 'Jackets!

It's funny I just picked a page in your posts and immediately found this.  You definitely have more of a rooting interest in U of R football than Fisher so try not to act like you are impartial for these purposes.

Something I said in 2008 while my son was a basketball player at UofR.  In your mind I should have said "Go Fisher"?  Riiiight...

Anyways back to my original point that you are a U of R supporter which you somehow wanted to deny and act like you are indifferent between the two in football...

I've seen you take jabs at Fisher before over the years.  Maybe if I'm bored one day I'll dig through more of your posts and prove it to you.

Booby, not to belabor the point, but I disagree (do not read that as saying you are wrong, as I could never actually prove this) with your long post. Yes, I believe Ithaca is actually much more well known and it is not an insignificant margin. I have lived and been to bunches of places/ campuses in the south. People are well aware of both Cornell and Ithaca. And it has nothing to do with football because the same people know nothing of Mount Union.I am not saying this to bash any school. It's just true in my experience.

As for Ethelred, I am not going to get into an SEC war here  :P

How have I ever denied I support the UofR?  Christ, I spent 4 years giving them a ****-ton of money.....of course I "support" them.  And any time UofR plays Fisher, I'd root for Rochester, but I've never seen the schools play any sport other than basketball.  And I couldn't tell you anything about Fisher other than I've seen their gym and I watched their women's basketball team play online last year because one of the girls I coached played for them.

And I'm not indifferent to football games between Fisher and UofR.   I actively don't give a ****....

PG - the only SEC game I've ever seen was the Georgia/Auburn game in 2010.  A dream come true.  But the level of animosity directed at everyone from Mark Richt to the band by middle age teachers and librarians was unsettling.  Fun, but unsettling.

Yes, it certainly is a wild experience. I have only been to Georgia games rooting for Georgia at home (well other than uga-fl in Jacksonville). Haven't attempted to be a fan on the road. May be too much for me!

Incidentally, I will be on hand to watch Georgia crush the University of Buffalo tomorrow. Check your local listings.

There were 7-8 UGA fans in our section (50 yard line/second deck/second row) at the start of the game.  1 was left by the 3rd quarter and she was sitting quietly with her boyfriend.  The others were....boisterously celebrating UGA's 21 point lead at the end of 1 and were politely asked to watch the game elsewhere.  I hope they got to see Newton's
performance somewhere
