Buff State circa 1990:  41

SJF circa 2006:  42

now lets talk politics.....

I don't think that's going to happen. One of the main reasons the board was created in the first place was because there was too much off topic chatter on the football boards. Then, Ling story short, JT made something like 300 straight posts in politics and the board was shut down. I don't disagree. This is a D3 site and don't disagree with PC wanting to focus everyone back at that.

yea, I was just being my sarcastic self

Ah,
This years game wont be that way me thinks.
The Fisher D looks very strong!

back to last Saterday (which btw, my 9 year ol son spelled Saturday like "Saterday" in something he wrote over the summer and I damn near fainted), did anyone see the SJF game live?  I didnt make it to Growney until start of 3rd.   What happened on the late hit that led to broken leg for Thomas More player?  When I arrived at game, if you can picture this...a man, who turns out was the player's father, was speed walking from the visitor's side, around the endzone area over to the SJF standing room only area behind the SJF sidelines....if steam could come out his ears it woulda been a cloud of smoke.  I just happened to be coming in the stadium from the park/ride lot at the same time he was making his way over and was prob 20 yds behind him.  Everyone he was walking past on his way over was turning around and making faces or mumbling something to the effect of "whoa, that guy is pissed".  Once he arrived on SJF side, he practically hunted down the first security guard he could find and started shouting..."I want his GD name right now...I want it now...I aint leaving till i have it....I didnt drive 10 hours for this ****....and so on for about 5-10 minutes as he was passed from one guard to another.   I swear this guy was as amped up as I have ever seen another human being in my 38 years....well since the time my brother and I tried to role the TV cart with our brand new 27 inch color Zenith from the living room to the dining room  (we werent allowed to eat in LR) so we could watch a Celtics game on tv and it fell off the cart and the plastic shell smashed open and then my dad came home....well I digress.

So while I feel for that Dad and his son who is apparently a Senior and now it looks like his career is over, that guy was very close to the edge and could not believe what I was witnessing...

Saw the game on the Computer.
Couldnt see what happened.

I felt bad for the kid, but nothing was said by Gene or Peter regarding a dirty play.

I mean really- what the hell was the guy going to do when he found out the players name?
Beat him up?

Having actually been in attendance at Sat BENGALS vs. CSU ( and then, immediatly afterwards, heading north to canada for a long weekend of R & R, sans laptop) I can tell you that it warms the BENGAL faithful to see the many well wishers on these E8 boards today.

I can also tell you that the only "fluke " in Saturdays game was CSU's Humphrey's 78 yarder in the 2nd half. The kids entire forearm hit the ground (unlike the Clemson player vs. Auburn who rolled over his defender and popped back up). Humphrey should have been down right there. Something tells me Coach Boyes is gonna have some "Wrap up " drills that are out of this world week. CSU should have never reached the endzone in the 2nd half ...period!!

I can also tell you that no 1 at Buff State is thinking about WW. Once the season starts, in any sport, the BENGALS focus on the next opponent! Pre-season allows 1 to fantasize about the entire schedule ( see last 10 pages of blogs in E8 prior to 9/1) but this week arch Rival, Brockport, is the only thought on the BENGALS mind as the annual "I-90 Bowl" takes place at Brockport. The Golden Eagles,  last sat., won 24-2 and their q.b. was named NJAC player of the week. Looks like BENGALS  paws will be full this week! Heck I gotta believe that no 1 at Brockport is thinking about the College of NJ (week 3 opponent) either!

lastly I can also tell you that today...

The BENGALS Ryan Carney, 12 catches - 242 yards - 2 touchdowns, was named to the  D3FOOTBALL.COM NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK!!!!! What most folks don't know is that this kid is a Buffalo State BASKETBALL recruit (last 2 years of hoops at Jamestown C.C.) , who just happens to play football. He hadn't played in a football game since his  senior year at Olean H.S. 2009! Heck SJF could see him Nov 3rd in football and Nov 10th in basketball (scrimmage at SJF).

1-0 start for all of E8. Congrats and good luck vs. "this weeks" opponents!

I watched the game on my computer as well, and didn't see the hit that broke the TMC players leg. It did appear that he was behind the play when he got hurt, but he was involved in the play moments before he got hurt. I didn't hear anything from the radio broadcast either, but it is possible they missed something. Was there a penalty on that play?

Same thing happened to me senior year in high school, second game of the season.  Luckily, I still had some playing days in me. But he went D1, then to the NFL (and to the Pro Bowl) and I went to Alfred and now live on the US/Mexico border with a population of 10,000 and only 1 store (Wal Mart).  Needless to say, who has two thumbs and clearly made out better? This guy.

Just went back to the play by play from the box score, and I don't see a flag for either team on that series for TMC. That does not prove there wasn't a late hit, but it is another pair of eyes that didn't see anything. If a Fisher player did take a cheap shot, and that is how the kid broke his leg that is a really uncool move.

No penalty but apparently it was thought to be a questionable play by the TMC Bench/Staff --- I didn't see it either, so I wouldn't be able to comment any further on it.

Maybe he gets a 5th year of eligibility with a medical?  I know I wasn't so lucky as my season-ending injury happened in game 5 and I was already playing in my 5th year.

I thought he broke it when there was an INT by Sant, there was a penalty on the play, but the radio guys said it was on Benderski for hitting the QB late on the play after the ball was picked off...

The kid who broke his leg on that play was playing in his first game back after having his season ended in week 5 in 2011 due to injury.  Thats probably was the father was so upset.. he worked pretty hard to get back into the lineup.  Not sure what the rules are, but this is his 10th semester of eligibility... so I doubt he can play in 2013.

It is heartbreaking to have a situation like that, but for a dad to lose his marbles like that is crazy....
Honeslty- what was he going to accomplish?
I do feel bad for the kid tho
