Hey! I defended BSC on the WIAC Board!  :P :P Seriously though, I am not sure how to predict the rest of this season. Teams shock me on a weekly basis.

I just read your posts over there. Good stuff pg04!!! Fortunatly those guys dont know where you live. Some of them sound like they have some real issues with that loss today.

pg04

Yeah, I have watched many fluke wins. This wasn't a fluke win. The game as played today was won by Buffalo State's players efforts and some great coaching at the end, not through luck.

And I am not surprised that the loss has affected them so much. When you don't lose in over 40 games it becomes pretty tough when it actually happens! I'm sure they will regroup and move on.

Upstate

When will people stop throwing at Buff St DB Chris Hall?

Two more picks today bringing his total to 6 picks in 3 games.

The views expressed in the above post do not represent the views of St. John Fisher College, their athletic department, their coaching staff or their players. I am an over zealous antagonist that does not have any current connection to the institution I attended.

congrats to buff st and bengalsrule.  you tauted your team and they came through.  as far as expecting class from the UWW folks, that wont happen.  pompous and arrogant are 2 words that come to mind for most of ther posters there.  it does not surprise me that they feel buff st got lucky, but when you only have 6 it only takes one lucky score to beat you.  i am sure buff st doesnt care if it was luck or not.

As a constant defender of the East region over the last five years (especially when it comes to playoff time), I'll just say that I'm really happy for what Buffalo State would pull off today. To Whitewater fans, even Coach Leipold would agree that this wasn't luck for the first 59 minutes since the defense held Whitewater without a touchdown. Please keep it classy, as I know some of you from Salem visits and know that you are generally very classy fans.

With that said, I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with the relative positions of the two teams after today's game, especially since Buffalo State lost to Brockport last week. So, I'm asking all of you, in my shoes, what would you do? My ballot had read Whitewater number one, and neither Brockport nor Buffalo State were in my ballot. Try not to be a homer about this, but be realistic and help me gain some perspective. Thanks.

I think Buffalo State and Brockport both deserve to be on the ballot. I personally would put Buffalo state ahead of Brockport. The distance between them is tough to decide though. I do think the Buff State win over UWW far outweighs the Brockport win over Buff State. However, the golden eagles still do deserve to be in the Top 25 IMO. Especially given the Lycoming beat previously 2-0 LVC today and Brockport beat them.

As for UWW. It's not like Wesley who lost to #4. I think UWW has to fall below Wesley. Maybe even below Salisbury. #8 or #9 seems reasonable. I mean, it was an unranked team at home. They may even deserve to fall further.

It's interesting you say that about their fans, because I interviewed their coach for a story, and honestly, he was one of the most down-to-earth, open guys I've ever spoken too. He even called me back a day later because he was worried he didn't tell me enough useful information. Sometimes fans take on the demeanor of their program, but that's not what's happening here, at least in my view.

It's unfortunate, but maybe it's to be expected. You get seven years of basically being told by everyone that Mount is the only team that can beat you, and you just sit up in the stands and soak it in, and then some school these people have never heard of come in and throw a roadblock into Round 8 of their little series with Mount

Of course, if they go to/win the Stagg Bowl again, it will probably prove their theory to them. Whatever. All E8/East fans should be excited. Buff State earned that win. If Whitewater fans want to try and take the accomplishment down, that's their issue

Now, what does this do for the E8's conference pedigree? It was already considered one of the top conferences in the country, and now you add this? You've had a number of solid/big-time wins by the E8 OOC this year (Thomas More, W&J, Cortland, Whitewater) I mean, those are four nice bucks to hang on the wall.

I agree with this 100% and posted as much on the WIAC site.  (Although it was only a few minutes ago because I just got home from the game.) Congrats to the Bengals.

One thought is that you could put them right next to North Central (on either side of them). That's assuming North Central is your highest ranked one loss team (coming into the weekend).  I'm assuming Wesley would not drop much, if at all.  As far as Buffalo State? I'm sure this is a minority opinion, but I would jack them all the way up to one spot ahead of UW-W.  Why not? They did something no team has done in a very long time.

I would rank Buffalo State for sure. Cortland wasn't ranked in the poll pre-season, but they were receiving votes, so that's a solid win. The Red Dragons didn't exactly pick up a meaningful win this week, but still, I think it's fair to call them a good team, not a team on the downswing. And, I think, the way Buffalo State won today matters too. It wasn't like they were outgained by 300 yards and Whitewater just made mistakes. The Bengals outgained them and had an equal number of 1st downs. Not a fluky win by any means. Both teams missed some field goals, and if anything, Buff State left more points on the board with the fumble.

I'd probably rank Brockport too. Lycoming's 2-0 outside that game so that may be a quality win. As will the Buff State win too. I'd have them maybe in the 23-25 range with Buff State a spot or two higher. Yeah, I would have Buff State higher. I think the nature of the UW-W matters, and I think rewarding gutsy scheduling is never a bad thing. Maybe 20ish?

bombers, not labling the coach or players and like frank mentioned I have met some really nice UWW fans at the stagg bowl.  just not surprised that some would not take the high road after the loss.

Yeah, my post want not meant as an indictment of all fans, but unfortunately, this is probably uncharted territory for some of them, and it's too bad they're reacting poorly.

They have shocked the world.
Not only has everyone in the Nation taken notice, but the rest of the E8 gasped.

The  sign up sheet to join the BENGALS bandwagon will begin shortly.!

I am proud of my BENGALS!!!

Bengal fans - Voice here from Whitewater. I posted a couple of times following Buff State's season opening offensive destruction of Cortland that the Bengals would be a very worthy opponent for UWW.  Most Buff State fans refused to drink the Kool aid.  Now that the  Kool aid has been digested its time for Bengal fans to get on the band wagon. You are a very good team that would do well in the WIAC.

Today's win was no fluke as you simply out executed the three time defending National Champs.

Outstanding win for the Bengals and as my Mom would tell me - "you did good!"

I am also a UWW guy,  your D-line was the star of the game.  I have not seen the Warhawk oline get punched in the mouth like that in quite a while. Buff St. totaly wanted it more and earned it!

HOPE IS ALIVE AND WELL IN BUFFALO NY  :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks Fisheralum, Bombers and sjfcards!

Just checking in from Linfield country to offer my congrats to Buff State.  What an incredible victory today. Prior to the Linfield game I was watching the scoreboard and saw only 3 points for UWW in the first half then 3 more in the second half and then out of the blue 7 points for Buff and a final score and could not believe my eyes.  In reading some of your posts I see this was not a fluke.  It's always great to see David slay Goliath.(unless you happen to be Goliath :)) I wish Buffalo State and their fans much success for the remainder of the season.  Who knows but we might see each other in the play offs if you keep playing like this.
