My 2 cents on the Courage Bowl.
UofR came to play- they were plain tired of losing.
The Fisher offense had best step it up - it is terrible as it stands.
This game always is tough, but I didnt see a top ten team out there last eve.
Come conference time things will get sorted out.
I will say this, based on Thomas Moore, and Wash and Jeff winning the way they have since they battled Fisher,
U of R may be better than many thought.
All said- 3-0 in OOC games.
Ill take it, but look for a dramatic improvement on O!

I agree that 3-0 is 3-0. And that all three of Fiaher's opponents have been good teams. But after watching them the last two weeks, I am terrified of more teams than I should be. Hartwick can score, Utica can score, Forget about Salisbury, and Buff State seems to be rather high after beating some team from out West.

Bottom line is that teams that can move the ball and put up points are going to give Fisher trouble if the offense can not move the ball consistently. There a several teams better than U of R on the schedule. I agree with whoever said it earlier that it is time to make a change at QB, and put Kramer back at RB. If they don't do something, I don't see this Fisher team doing much.
GO FISHER!!!

dlip figures the Utica game to be a challenge for sure unless SJF gets it's offense going. Honestly, dlip hopes they can do that. Just a thought here but dlip thinks a pocket type passer could benefit the Cardinals and then they could use Kramer's awesome athleticism at RB/reciever, etc. Good luck to any team trying to cover him or contain him coming out of the backfield on most downs.

Wow. Big day for football yesterday. My Irish beat MSU, USC lost, Alfred won, Fisher won, and most important, Buff State won.

I never gave them a snowballs chance to beat WW. But to me, the biggest thing was defense. Everyone was suprised to see Buff State stomp Cortland but mostly because of how the QB and offense dominated. All the WW guys said Buff State would be a tough opponent. But if Buff State allowed Cortland to put up big numbers, I was imagining what WW was going to do. Must say I am impressed not by the win but by the fact that they held the #1 team in the nation to 6 points. 6 points...6 points!!!  Very, very impressive. I was expecting a 48-21 type football game in favor of WW. But a battle like that, unbelievable!!! Kudos to Buff State!!!

And it might seem that given this, Brockport could be a team to watch out for too...

congrats to buff st and bengalsrule.  you tauted your team and they came through.  as far as expecting class from the UWW folks, that wont happen.  pompous and arrogant are 2 words that come to mind for most of ther posters there.  it does not surprise me that they feel buff st got lucky, but when you only have 6 it only takes one lucky score to beat you.  i am sure buff st doesnt care if it was luck or not.

Thanks wesley! And your are right! "Lucky" or not, that plane ride home was 1 thing of beauty!

I just hope our basketball team still gets Carney when the season is over! ;)

Just wanted to come over here and give a BIG congrats to the Buffalo State Bengals, coaching staff and fans!  I remember, like it was yesterday, the amazing feeling to fly across the country and come home with a win against the defending national champs in 2005 when we beat the Linfield Cats.  Despite the loss and disappointment for the Warhawks, I was thrilled for your program.  Your boys went toe to toe with us for four quarters and certainly earned the win, as far as I am concerned!  Best of luck with the rest of your season.

No bombers dlip was in Northfield VT yesterday to watch the Norwich/WPI game. dlip's friend's nephew plays for the Cadets and a bunch of us went out to watch him play. What were your thoughts on the game? Union? If the two teams play again next year we'll have to meet. dlip would lilke to say hello. By the way, congrats to Ithaca on the win. It will be interesting to see how they do in E8 play. For a year that many (including myself) thought was going to be very poor (it may still be) dlip is happy for the bombers 2-0 start.

+ 2 football fan. I echo dlip sentiments with regards to your classy comments about our win yesterday! Best of luck to the Warhawks also. Who knows... maybe a rematch in Salem Va. around December 14th?! ;)

Thanks, Bengalsrule and dlip.  Dispite a very small number of knee jerk reactions, to the loss yesterday, there are a lot of UWW regular posters who are even tempered, fair and humble when it comes to appreciating this amazing run that our program has had but don't try and tell that wesleydad.  He likes to paint with a broad brush and is understandably sensitive because of the Welsey/UWW match up history.  Guess I can't really blame him.  Some of the guys have a hard time not bringing up that cannon/shoe thing from time to time.   ;)  A rematch in Salem?  That would be fantastic.  A win like this for the Begals should pay huge dividends in the confidence department. Gotta believe to achieve.  As far as our program, a few weaknesses have been exposed and we have some adjustments to make and will have to see how the guys respond. There is way too much winning left for both sides at this point in time.  Again, best of luck with conference play.  We will certainly have our hands full with the WIAC.

What a week for D3 --

If you're going by body of work for the 2012 season, MHB really should get votes for #1.   At 3-0, while I guess those that have seen SJF's wins can say they were unimpressive, two of those wins were against really solid programs. U of R for what it's worth was 1-0 as well and Both Thomas More and W&J won this week as well. So I'm going with tough opponents.  SJF stays #9 in my opine.

With Buff State's win, I'm wondering where/if they'll be ranked in the top 25, their only loss was to 3-0 Brockport -- how high will they be ranked?

My crack shot at the T10: #1 MHB, #2 MUC, #3 Linfield, #4 St. Thomas, #5 Wesley, #6 Salisbury, #7 UWW, #8 Wabash, #9 SJF, #10 Bethel

Hobart moves up, Brockport and Buff State also show up in the T25 as well.

Congrats to Buff State  (ugh, can't believe I just said that)

Nice win for Buff State and the E8!  Very impressive.  Though I'm ashamed to say I had to search to find what conference they were in.  Prior to yesterday, I can't ever remember thinking of them.   Can't say that any more.

Curious to see how the rest of their season plays out and how that win will affect the playoff pairings.  Will this be the year the traditional East holds a 1 seed?  If SJF and or Brockport can run the table, that win could go a long way to making one of them a VERY strong #1 seed candidate.

As a Mount guy, I also have to admit I really enjoyed seeing UWW lose before they got to Mount's 55 game streak. ;D

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I was unimpressed by both teams, really. Union's lack of execution at the end was awful, and Ithaca blew several chances early (Neumann completely missed a wide-open Ingaro for a long touchdown in the 1st quarter) and late (the typical IC inability to score in goal-to-situation.)

Eck was really good when he was moving, but Ithaca got a lot of pressure on him. He was sacked five times, and only his mobility saved him from a couple more. Ithaca had five sacks in Week 1, so maybe this is the IC defense more than anything. But it was disconcerting.

IDK, it's easy to say Union shot itself in the foot with how the game ended, but really both teams were just not that good. Kind of sad because this should be a marquee game between two powers. Such is life. We'll take a 2-0 though
