... especially you wesleydad.  Your post was ... not indicative at all of the overwhelming majority of posts that were made by UWW fans regarding the game.

It is, however, indicative of the majority of posts over the past seven years made by UWW fans towards Wesley. I know you haven't been here that long, but he has, and obviously I have as well.

Very true.  I thought some E8 posters overreacted to the one or two negative posts on the WIAC board (made in the heat right after the game - the vast majority of posts were very gracious in defeat), but many WIAC posters have been absolutely brutal about Wesley over the years.

In fairness, that may be because no Buff State fans tried to stir the pot BEFORE the game, while some Wesley fans got 'a bit mouthy'.

I think that a few of us (me in particular) went a bit overboard with the Tommy fans last year. I think I apologized then when I got a level head.
I had no such reaction to the UWW fans, I found almost all of their posts gracious and thoughtful. The ONLY caviat is the reaction to Wesley..That is a different story and one that I wasnt in the middle of.

Glad to hear that someone outside the program's interactions sees it this way.  Being around the boards since 05, I have watched and been a part of this board rivalry since the beginning.  The unfortunate thing for the Welsey fans is that they did come out a bit strong before the first meeting between the Warhawks and Wolverines, IMHO, and then, when their team laid a 58-6 egg under icy weather conditions, there was mention of, "not wearing the right shoes." and, "alleged," complaints to the NCAA about our shooting off the canon after every TD. Something that the Bengals, with their terrific play, avoided hearing, I might add.  A rare occurrence in the Perk! It got things off on the wrong foot and gave a few of the our boys rich material and unlike me, they have long memories.  ;)   To say the relationship has been strained because of that over the years would be an understatement.  Neither side is forgiving and forgetting, it seems.

One more note about the Buff St game. I noticed several posts mentioning chartered plane rides to Wisconsin. The fact of the matter is they went by bus.  The only reason I bring it up, is I think it makes there achievement even more impressive factoring in a 12 hour bus ride.

Well no wonder Buff State won then. In 12 hours on a bus they could watch Rocky 1 & 2, Hoosiers and Remember the Titans.

I can tell you ( as basically the only Buff State fan on these, and the basketball boards) that you will never see us get "mouthy'/ "stir the pot"! Thats not our style here at the "mistake on the lake" ( try living with that nickname for a while - after 4 superbowl loses). We are proud of our BENGALS (even after losing to Brockport). We believe that we have something special going on here.

The WW game is over. Now the focus is on getting our first E8 win vs a tough Alfred team!

GO BENGALS!!!

I think that since there are multiple UWW fans still posting about Wesley years later, and there is really just one Wesley fan on the boards as a whole, it's up to the more moderate factions from the UWW side to bury the hatchet instead of letting people gang up on one guy. Perhaps four national titles should be some consolation here.

You are right. Mis-infrormation on my part. Hopefully that doesnt take away from the monumenmtal win and what those boy accomplished this weekend!!

Im glad to see that my mistake has brought another Buff State fan to these boards. It's been lonely being the only BENGALS voice (with an occassional shout out by "Upstate") on these boards. Hope to see more posts from you Buffdad!!!!

Yes Bengalsrule, my son's a freshman on the team so I'll be around for awhile. The excitement from the game made we search around for forums like this to see what the talk was about Buffalo St. and it's future.

We had a great time with our guests last night on "In the HuddLLe" -- Coach Jerry Boyes of Buffalo State was a great interview, admitting that the jury is still out as to who the "real" Buffalo State Bengals team is after the Brockport loss and Whitewater win in back-to-back weeks.  He gave us a lot of insight into how the game came to be and about the history of his program.  We appreciated his candor in the interview.

In addition, we had two excellent and fun player interviews with Hobart senior captain and running back Bobby Dougherty, who had the best rushing day for Hobart since 2006, and Merchant Marine Academy first-time starting QB Luke Stidham, who stepped in for an injured Alex Coviello and led his team to their first defeat of SUNY-Maritime Saturday.

James Baker and I discussed the big upset, the Union College scenario and what it all means to both Union AND Ithaca, the upcoming week's games (with Dlip) and lots more.  To listen to the archive, just go to http://inthehuddlle.com and select the 9/16/12 show.

Glad you found us -- one thing I noticed this weekend was that the players were very much up on the site but not sure all the adults were. A member of the traveling party thought I worked for UWW, then thought I could get the highlights on SportsCenter. Wish I had that power. :)

Frank, did you make the trip to IC for the game? What were your thoughts?

Point taken, Pat, and will keep this in mind.  But, as one of the moderate factions that I think you are pointing to, I try my best and succeed often with keeping the testosterone at bay on these boards but it isn't easy sometimes.   ;) :D ;D   Seriously, the subject of Wesley coming up on here was because their, "one guy," came to the Empire 8 board to offer his congratulations but then told them, "as far as expecting class from the UWW folks, that wont happen.  pompous and arrogant are 2 words that come to mind for most of ther posters there."

I am all for encouraging the very small number of posters, (one or two come to mind,) that still make a cannon joke once and awhile, to burying the hatchet, but maybe I would feel more motivation to step up on his behalf if I wasn't one of the moderate posters being painted with his, "arrogant and pompous," broad brush.  Both sides are guilty of keeping it going, IMHO.  But, again, I will keep your thought in mind for the future.   8-)

+1 on glad you found these boards. I've been an active participant on the basketball side for yerars but just ventured to football this season! Don't be intimidated by all the St. John Fisher fans on these boards :o . And keep recruiting the BENGAL faithful! (P.s...My son graduated from Buff State in 2009).

As far as Pat Coleman /ESPN....All in due time Pat...all in due time!!!!!! ;)
