The SJF O-line was very impressive.  Their QB had all kinds of time to throw.  The AU D was very good at stopping the run.  Hopefully that will continue next week against Salisbury.  It was good to see you Pep.  Your crew was impressive with little numbers.  Great day to be a Saxon fan.

Watching the offense yesterday was painful...

Good job by AU's D to stuff the run and make Kramer beat you in the air.  51 attempts by him was a recipe for disaster. One fumble, 3 interceptions, averaging 5.5 yards per pass attempt and 1.9 yards per rush on offense is just a hilariously awful performance...

AU's coaches got house money on the fumble before halftime and ended up getting blackjack on the fake FG.  Great move by them.  They were one step ahead of the Fisher coaches all game...

This has nothing to do with AU or a slight against them because they are a real good team coached by great coaches but SJF is now 0-3 in their last 3 trips to Alfred. That's just unacceptable if you want to think you are a regional power...

I just didn't get the offensive philosophy yesterday with a hobbled QB. The spread formation and zone read is just an abomination if your QB is no threat to run it...

Even if they win out I just don't see NCAA's with two E8 losses.  Now just hoping for a SJF ECAC home game honestly...

To piggyback off your SJF/AU record, Hobart plays RPI at RPI this Sat and has lost two straight to them, so if RPI were to win it would also be 3 straight vs Hobart (and RPI's had like six coaches in that period and something of an mess of a program).

Anything can happen with 4 weeks left, but as opposed to last year, where Fisher's two losses were to respective conference champs, this year one of the losses has to be to a second place team with two losses (or more), which probably hurts the profile a little bit in the regional rankings which have some subjectivity to them.  Shame is I thought they should be in the playoffs (like last year), but it looks like it's going to be tough for the E8 to get a second bid (if Alfred beats Sals, they might have a decent shot, but hard to see a two loss Alfred making it unless RPI runs the table and wins the LL, which is still possible, but they've got all their tough conference games remaining).

Yeah I was not a big fan of the offensive gameplan yesterday, but give AU some credit. They made Fisher one dimensional, and it was not the dimension Fisher would like to lean on. The game for me came down to the final minute of the first half. Fisher just looked at out of sorts and on their heels, and AU took advantage. The game was over from then on.
GO FISHER!!!

What should happen in the top 25 because of yesterday's AU-Fisher game? Any thoughts?

On Saxon Warriors!!

AU went from 4 votes to 2 votes after the Saxons' 31-7 win over Ithaca. Pep is thinking the Saxons get half of the 2 votes after knocking off Fisher.
There's one pollster out there who will list AU as #25.....good for 1 vote. In fact, Pep has inside knowledge that this is the guy:

When was the last time a Fisher offense was held to less than 50 yards rushing?

Sorry to blow up your hopes, Pep.  They're getting 4 points from me, a former 0-pointer until this week.

Off the top of my head I'd say 2002 vs Ithaca when they averaged .2 yds per carry on 22 attempts.  Yes a whopping 5 yards rushing in a 30-20 loss.  The OC was infatuated with running outside vs IC that day and they were having none of it, they flowed to the ball really fast and cut everything off...

Good part of the game was it was a coming out party for Noah as he had 12, 200 and 2 TDs...

Pep knows the guys like to be respected, but seriously, Pep finds rankings, while useful for those of us watching the games from without, are nothing but a distraction to those who are playing the game. [Legendary] Coach Alex Yunevich always told his boys to wait til season's end for their celebrating. If he heard his boys talking about what the papers were saying about them, Yuni suggested they take the clippings to the next game and show their opponent as they would surely be impressed.  ;)

A team is only as good as its next game. And that's Salisbury. If history repeats itself, the Saxons find themselves 69 point underdogs.

Serious news out of Ithaca: Mike Welch is taking an indefinite leave of absence from coaching. He'll be undergoing heart bypass surgery on Tuesday. Mark McDonough will the the head coach in his stead. More here, although it looks like not much is known. I'll keep my ear to the ground

Thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Welch and his family.

Fisher tumbles to 24.
Lucky to be there.
Congrats to AU.
Welcome to the top 25!

Well, the Saxons made it all the way to 21.  I really thought they might not make it.  Tough game next week.  But AU seems to be getting better and more confident each game.
