Seems like there was a lot more discussion on Fisher losing rather than Buffalo State winning, so I'd just like to congratulate Buffalo State on another good win. If they can take all the good from this season and continue it into next, watch out! Consistency is key.

well, at least the tailgate will be good!

Class act there pg04!! On behalf of the BENGALS faithful, I say "thanks for the congratulations"! First winning season since 2000! Started strong with a win over Cortland and finished strong with a win over SJ Fisher. In between, gameS 2-9, was a hodgepodge of emotions and, on some days, less than stellar efforts (UWW win not withstanding). Forecast for the future looks better than this time last year!

Our website says that we have a shot at an ECAC bowl! (???) Not sure how that works for a 6-4 team. Hopefully someone can answer. I imagine a top 15 strength of schedule ranking may have something to do with the BENGALS hoping that  thier season will continue! As a 5 plus year BENGAL supporter I'm hoping the best for them.

However, as a rabid BENGALS basketball fan, I'm hoping that the BENGALS basketball team gets the services of Ryan Carney sooner than later (but then I'm a BENGALS basketball first type of guy!).  Theres no way a basketball team gets postseason consideration with a 60% win rate.

  Go BENGALS!! ;)

Bombers798891

They're not going to get an ECAC bowl. Teams can declare as long as they finish over .500, but only 8 get taken, and there would need to be a lot of carnage to get into the four loss teams...

On a side note, I think this was a down year for the E8. Some may call it parity, but other than Salisbury, I think every team in the conference has a severe flaw. Fisher's offense is not real strong. Utica's just as likely to give up 40 as 7. Ithaca's offense is decent, but really lacks a gamebreaker. Buff State is too inconsistent to be taken seriously. Alfred is probably the #2, but they're not exactly lighting the world on fire (even before the injuries.)

Bombers-I know what you are talking about.
Its a swagger that  Boyes instills.
Bengalsrule-enjoy the season and best of luck.
Welcome to the E8.
I still think that they are a .500 team

Thank you fisher Alum for the warm greeting. Hopefully my BENGALS will prove your ".500 team" wrong. But then that's why they play the game(s)!

I'll be looking for you on the 3rd of November!! I'll be in the gym but hopefully catch you after the game!

I was in the gym last weekend! .600/.571 (6-4 overall/4-3 in conf)...but we'll take it! We definitly enjoyed our first season in E8! To be able to tie Salisbury with the longest Empire 8 win streak of 2012, 4 victories in a row, makes for a extra nice send-off!!

To go thru a season like we have. Game 1 beat Cortland (NJAC pre-season #1 and current #20 ranked), then lose to arch-rival Brockport, then beat #1 U Wisconsin - Whitewater made for an interesting, and emotional, start to 2012. Losing the next 3 in a row hurt. I must admit, when I look back at those teams now, with a combined 18-8 record/13-5 E8 ( and Salibury currently ranked 16th/ Utica ranked 39th), I realize that my BENGALS have nothing to be ashamed of. The final 4 wins (including #25 ranked SJ Fisher) in a row, justs add icing to the cake.

Finishing in the top half of the E8 in our maiden E8 voyage aint a bad start. Hopefully we can pick up next year, where we left off this year (if no ECAC bid comes along)!

Go BENGALS! We couldn't be prouder!

Bombers798891

Just an ugly game at Butterfield today.

The teams combined for 10 turnovers, 22 first downs (two by penalty), and barely 400 yards of offense

The Bombers' longest offensive drive of the game was 39 yards. Nearly HALF of Hartwick's drives ended in turnovers. It was cold, wet, and miserable. Phil Neumann left the game due to apparent injury.

So, where does this leave the Bombers? 6-3, which is a two-game improvement over last season (No I don't think they will beat Cortland). Several players made big strides this season, although there are still holes on the squad. However, unlike last season, when every win except Union was a struggle, the Bombers had several impressive victories this season, and picked up a marquee victory. And if they do beat Cortland, they could stake a claim that they beat the E8 and NJAC champs, and the LL runner-up. That would be impressive, and might make them appealing for an ECAC bowl

I don't know what to expect of the team next season, but it was nice to see the team play better this season.

Anyone else having a problem with the video feed of the Fisher/Buff State game?

Fisher will hold the UC offense to 21 points...

However Fisher will only score 13...

SJF had a good run these last 10 seasons, 4 NCAAs 8-4 record, 5 ECAC Bowls 4-1 record,  quite a turnaround compared to the prior 10 seasons.

If UC wins I'll be happy for them as it likely means that program's first ECAC bid -- maybe SJF and the E8 in general reloads with a stronger field next year.

Actually not true!!! 1 playoff team (out of 32) in the past 2 years (2010-11 & 2011-12),  has made it to the NBA playoffs, with a sub 500 record - Indiana 2010-11 .451. Last years worst record was Philly at .530 ;D

I posted on fb today that it was ironic that both the Bills and Fisher's postseason hopes were dashed on the same weekend!

Decent season for the Bengals in their 1st year of the conference. I'm sure all the Bengal faithful experienced major disappointment after beating Whitewater, only to lose 3 straight. But a lot of schools would have packed it in after that, credit to the Bengals that they sucked it up and ended the year on a 4 game winning streak. 8-)

Pep was pleased to see AU put together a solid offensive effort with new (different) personnel in key skill positions yesterday, totaling 555 yards of offense with 302 in the air and 253 on the ground. Frostburg kept Saxon fans guessing, scoring twice in the first half but the Saxon defense was solid in the second half and shut down the Bobcats in the 40-14 win.

Kudos to the AU coaching staff for pulling it all together in a week. Back-up QB Joe Enslin had a solid day, going 18-for-32 for 302 yards and 3 TDs. WR Maleke Fuentes (16 carries for 109 yards) ran the wildcat with DB Jon Jackson getting 6 carries for 73 yards from the wide-out slot. Demetrious Houanche, a frosh from Deer Park, had 37 yards on 10 carries, Malcolm Downey 21 yards on 6 carries.

Was a fun Senior Day (final home game) for Saxon standouts Mike Raplee, Chris Steeves, Jon Jackson, Matt Girolmo, Brendan McGinnis, Reggie Pressley (sat out due to concussion), Adam Schutz, Andy Ruddock, Nick Spadaro and Harold Spetla. Not a huge group of seniors but a quality bunch for sure.

Pep is hoping to see a solid effort at Hartwick Saterday to close out the regular season and then hope to see another ECAC bowl game. Saxons are 76-31 over the past ten seasons and a win Saterday in Oneonta will give Coach Dave Murray his 100th win as Saxon mentor. Since arriving in Mayberry in 1998, Murray has won 99 games against 56 losses, with nine consecutive winning seasons during which AU has gone 5-1 in ECAC bowl games and 2-2 in NCAA Championships play.

On Saxon Warriors!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

AU's back up offense is light years better than Fishers starting offense...

Seriously that's impressive for those guys to step in and produce...

But I bet AUs offense doesn't have the intangibles fisher has...

I am actually pretty stunned with this whole Robinson conversation, especially coming from Fisher fans.  For me...I haven't seen a RB anywhere near his class since he graduated.  Stats are stats...but sometimes you just watch a player and you immediately think...dammit...we have to see this guy for how many more years?

I can only think of two other RB's that I would put in Robinson's class from the past 15-20 or so (using only "East" regions schools here)...Dan McGovern and Krishaun Gilmore...both from RPI...both playing in the late 90's.  Those two...like Robinson...were ridiculous...

Pep doesn't know how he compares for total rushing yards, but for the most durable, "Mr. Do-It-All" football player ever at Alfred there was Jesse Raynor. But then, Raynor probably is easily forgotten because the Saxons, with no fault to Raynor, were playing .500 ball during his time in Mayberry. Nevertheless, he was one of the "Faces in the Crowd" at Sports Illustrated....back in 2003. SI had this to say about Raynor:
Jesse Raynor, WEEDSPORT, N.Y.
Football
Raynor, a senior tailback at Alfred University, finished his career with 3,865 rushing yards, a school record. He was also a starting cornerback, the placekicker and the Saxons' top kick returner, and he was named Empire 8 Conference player of the year.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
