Rev, The zoo is indeed open and next Sunday is the Boilermaker 15k Roadrace.
14,000 runners flock to Utica every year for one of the best races in the country!
Stop by the Matt (Saranac) Brewery again...You will like the new brews and try an old Fav....Utica Club!

Im still waiting for Bombers to respond after completely throwing Utica under the bus.
Its one thing to throw out crap about a City, but another to duck a response.
Look, Utica isn't a city for everyone, but I sit on 8 boards of directors in the area including the Chamber of Commerce, so when somebody slams the area, I take it personally.

Back to football-----Bills at Fisher in a few weeks!!!

And Johnny Utah welcomed "Mooseknuckles" to the board but not me. Sniff.

I'll be honest D3viewer, I didn't notice if you were knew or not, and you already had posts in the double digits.

So hi, welcome to the boards.

Thanks Johnny Utah. Just having fun with a playful poke. I respect that you are a senior member of this board and agree with your previous comments about the conf situation.

Deadspin did an article ranking the 39 cheapest American beers by taste.

Utica Club finished 4th best. One ahead of PBR and behind original Coors (the banquet beer), Naragansett ( did I read Johnny Utah lives in Mass ? has he had it ?) and Grain Belt Premium (MN).
To quote the article :

4. Utica Club. This has a fair bit going on, flavor-wise, which is risky business. Less is usually much more in this price category, but UC is the rare cheapie that pulls off its dangerous ambition. This Central New Yorker's unique vegetal maltiness is much better than the phrase "unique vegetal maltiness" suggests. I'll never write their marketing copy, but I'll always drink their beer.

d3viewer- I saw the same article!!!!
Gotta love the hometown brew getting some props!

Few things

1. I wasn't "ducking" a response. If you happened to glance at a calendar, it was a holiday weekend. I was visiting the GFs family in Virginia and not around the message boards. Didn't realize "Vacation = ducking" in your book.

2. What exactly do you want a response to? The fact that we have different opinions on the City of Utica? Okay, I'll respond. I still disagree with you.

Imagine that. Differing opinions, and the world still turns. I'm glad you like Utica. My post was not a personal attack on you. It was an opinion about a city, which I offered in response to a question about the challenges Utica may face in recruiting. People have opinions about a lot of things. Many of them are going to be negative. Lots of people don't like Ithaca either. Some of them--GASP--have even expressed that opinion to me, in any variety of ways. Guess what? It doesn't bother me. Hate Ithaca? Tell me about it if you want. Love Ithaca? Tell me about it.  Don't care either way? That's cool too. No one's opinion of Ithaca affects my day in the slightest. I can see you're more personally attached to Utica than I am to Ithaca. That's great (I mean that sincerely, with no sarcasm) and I'm sorry if my post struck a nerve.

I like both Utica and Ithaca. Places named for Ancient Greek cities can't be all bad.

And here I thought Utica was named after a beer. ;D

Bombers,
I guess I do take things personally that sometimes I shouldn't, but when on a daily basis, you have to combat a negative attitude it becomes unnerving.
Those of us that fight so hard to make The Mohawk Valley a better place to live are protective of it, and im one.
Im sorry you don't like the area, and that you had such a horrible time in our City.

Now back to beer and football talk!

Are you just trying to get nominated for the 2013 Play Haters Ball?  Silky Johnson might have something to say about that.

Hate, Hate, Hate, Hate.

Excellent. From what perspective?

BBC was looking for an aviation expert in Korea and came across my profile on LinkedIn (the producer was connected to one of my friends who works for Voice of America). So I got a message. I told him I haven't been an airport director since 2009, but I was still good enough. I'll probably talk a little about korea's air safety record, asiana as a high-class airline, the 777 coming through as one hell of a solid plane, how pilot error doesn't necessarily mean that the pilot was negligent or bad, and so on. I'll be surprised if I can fit it all in during the 3-4 minutes I have.

LOL
and a double if you get LLPP mixed in!...

Not sure why so much debate on this incident...or why you will need all that time...all air crashes are caused by the same thing...the Gravitational constant.... :P
