Rev, The zoo is indeed open and next Sunday is the Boilermaker 15k Roadrace.
14,000 runners flock to Utica every year for one of the best races in the country!
Stop by the Matt (Saranac) Brewery again...You will like the new brews and try an old Fav....Utica Club!

Deadspin did an article ranking the 39 cheapest American beers by taste.

Utica Club finished 4th best. One ahead of PBR and behind original Coors (the banquet beer), Naragansett ( did I read Johnny Utah lives in Mass ? has he had it ?) and Grain Belt Premium (MN).
To quote the article :

4. Utica Club. This has a fair bit going on, flavor-wise, which is risky business. Less is usually much more in this price category, but UC is the rare cheapie that pulls off its dangerous ambition. This Central New Yorker's unique vegetal maltiness is much better than the phrase "unique vegetal maltiness" suggests. I'll never write their marketing copy, but I'll always drink their beer.

This list is awful. I've actually never had Utica Club so I can't comment on that, but I seem to disagree with a lot of the ordering. Of course I guess it's a matter of opinion and taste.

Hey Fellas, I (The Rev) will be interviewed on BBC Radio 5, Monday night at 11:10, NY time.
You can hear me live on a streaming broadcast at http://www.bbc.co.uk/5live/on-air

I'll talk about the Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco on Saturday.

Excellent. From what perspective?

BBC was looking for an aviation expert in Korea and came across my profile on LinkedIn (the producer was connected to one of my friends who works for Voice of America). So I got a message. I told him I haven't been an airport director since 2009, but I was still good enough. I'll probably talk a little about korea's air safety record, asiana as a high-class airline, the 777 coming through as one hell of a solid plane, how pilot error doesn't necessarily mean that the pilot was negligent or bad, and so on. I'll be surprised if I can fit it all in during the 3-4 minutes I have.

Nice! Good luck!

PG,
I always knew that UC and PBR were "kissing cousins!" :P

I'll have to try it sometime, I suppose. If I ever make it back to NY during a football season (many Brockport/Fisher games in the future, now that they will be joining the E8), Perhaps you can provide me with some  ;)

That's good to hear, hopefully I'll be up to stream it.

The comments to the article were quite the treat. People have hard opinions on beer so you can imagine there was a lot of teeth knashing. Yuengling fans to seemed to be the most butt hurt. It didn't fare very well..somewhere in the middle.

+K even though no D3 reference... :)
He was really trying to goad you into some negativity...nice job of staying positive!

+K if you get a D3 sports plug in.

LOL
and a double if you get LLPP mixed in!...

Not sure why so much debate on this incident...or why you will need all that time...all air crashes are caused by the same thing...the Gravitational constant.... :P

mattvsmith

I didn't even get to plug myself, let alone plug D3 football.

I had this idea last night that I was going to tell them about how Asiana was great when I needed a flight to catch a D3 football game. I didn't get a chance to BS like that.

I'll use this as an opportunity to rant and randomly say that the phrase "butt hurt" really annoys me. I'm not bashing you or anything but the phrase invokes irrational anger in me for some reason (and don't say I'm butt hurt about "butt hurt"). It's like we've all created and invoked a whole new language. Why did I make this post? i don't know, just in a bad mood and this is a good place as any to rant.  ;D

If this were the "anything but D3 topic" I might ask as a topic, which colloquial words or phrases annoy you?

Admittedly, I don't even know what the phrase "butt hurt" means...but I always hated the use of "Yada Yada Yada", and although it's really a mispronounciation, I always cringe when someone uses the word axe instead of ask... ("I axed her a question")...

...and enough with the use of the word "Epic" already..."That party was Epic", "Epic Fail"...annoying.
