Dlip loves the way Buff St scheduled! Dlip wishes more teams would go get it like the Bengals!

The Rev thinks Buff State is going to have a good year. I reckon they will go 5-1 in the first six games. Just a guess. Bengals can surprise. I just hope they don't win a big one and melt down against the rest.

I agree with 5 of the first 6, which is crazy considering where the program was just a few years ago. Buff State has a guy that just knows how to run a program, and as long as he is the head coach, I think they are here to stay.

I'll have to disagree with Buff st winning 5 of those 6. I say they are lucky to go 3-2. They have gotten better every year under Boyes..but progress has been slow.and they are certainly not the caliber team they were under Boyes first stint. Their offense is not as explosive..and their defense is average, they used to be dominant. I don't see those dominant type players they they used to have. Check their statistics from last year. Nothing stands out.
They are a year removed from that 6-4 year that is shared by similar teams on the cusp of either becoming playoff contenders or peaking  at 6-4. Others would be Utica and Brockport...Alfred all coming off 6-4 seasons .You get the point. Means you were/are good but not that good yet.
So.I guess I'm not as high on Buff st as others seem to be. Time will tell.

I give Jerry and the Bengals major credit for shopping in the high-rent district.
That's how you get better.  Way better.
Whether they qualify as buyers in the district will be interesting to see.

Pep has the utmost respect for Coach Jerry Boyes and, with him as mentor, the Buffalo State Bengals Football Program. In fact, were one to go back to the summer of 2012, one would find that Pep actually prophesied (on these boards) the Bengals' win over UW-Whitewater (and watched on the webcast on a PC in the AU Library) ...and their subsequent loss to Alfred the very next week.

Pep was at the Buffalo State-AU game and was not surprised by one Chuck Beckwith's performance. But not having seen him carry the ball since his freshman year in a scrimmage at Susquehanna (in which he was injured), Pep was tickled by his productivity. And, to be fair, the Bengals had no opportunity to plan a way to stop him because they'd likely never seen him on video!

Pep is wondering whether Bengalsrule is lurking these boards and has anything to say about Buffalo State in 2013. Pep is thinking BSC continues the ascent to the top of the heap, albeit a bit more competitive now than Boyes' first round of coaching the Bengals. Pep knows there will be a battle at Merrill Field on Oct. 5.

In addition to Buffalo State I am interested to see what Fisher's record will be after their first 3 games.  They didn't schedule any out of conference cupcakes with an opener on the road against Otterbein who finished 8-2 last year while playing in the OAC, then matching up against Washington & Jefferson and Cortland in their next two games.

The combined record of those three teams last year:  25-7.  Excluding the playoffs they were 24-5.

If Fisher can manage to win the first 3 games I think they could really pick up some steam.  Their first two E8 opponents are Frostburg State and Hartwick so they could have a lot of momentum going into the Salisbury game in October.  Of course it could also go the other way and they could be 0-3 heading into conference play.  We will certainly have a better idea of which scenario is more likely this Saterday.  Feels good to write Saterday again.   ;D

Booby,
I'm glad to see you revive the scientific spelling of Saterday.

fisheralum91

Is it almost Saterday?

This break has been crazy long!

dlip loves this! This is a total representation of what the SJF program has been doing with their scheduling (and in all fairness dlip gives props to Otterbein as well for scheduling the math-up).

Was great meeting you in Salisbury last season, Wesleydad. Mayberry is planning to do just that on Nov. 2 at Merrill Field. Pep is thinking the Saxons will be a bit less hospitable than the 2011 meeting at Merrill Field.
