Union vs. Utica pre game write up ready on dlip's blog.

      www.dlipthedutchman.blogspot.com

No prediction? What a copout! Haha, Utica 31, Union 17.

A copout for sure Dew :) dlip really thought about this one and feels, after all he has learned about the D3 game and Union after many years (and still has so much more to learn) that the most honest thing he could say is that he does not know how this one is going to turn out. The game itself will be very telling for both teams, especially Union. Utica showed they can score last week against a not so good team and we are all really wating to see what the young Dutchmen D are capable of. dlip has said this before and will say it again he feels special teams play is huge for Union and will dictate the direction the team takes this season. It all starts Saturday and dlip is really looking forward to seeing the Utica campus and the Dutchmen bring their mojo to town.

Thanks UfanBill for making the pick. At least someone has more "you know whats" than dlip! Safe travels on Saturday UfanBill. +k to you and Dew!

The Buffalo State vs. Brockport game gets a little pub on "D3football.com daily Dose - Triple Take".

"Pat's take: Brockport State. Rolling over Lycoming for a second consecutive year didn't garner much pub (no box score, no game story uploaded) but a game against Buffalo State gives the Eagles another shot at getting themselves on the Division III radar."

Sounds like the winner of this game may get a little recognition?! Makes you wonder whats up with Brockports' S.I.D.? I know the BENGALS S.I.D. puts the story/stats up within minutes after the game is over!

Would like to see Union win insomuch as they've only had one OOC win in the past three seasons (beat Springfield in their last year in E8), two in the last four (beat Wick in Nov 09).

I'll say that unless Union is significantly better than last year, Utica looks pretty good for Saturday.
Their D looked good and the O was not showing any sign of missing Benkwitt.

Union vs. Utica; Turn the clocks back a few years, Utica as a fledgling program, scrimmaged Union a couple of times and as expected got pushed around.  In 2011, now a solid program and a member of the E8,Utica hosted Union and shocked the Dutchman in there first regular season meeting 28-27.  Last year the Pioneers proved it was no fluke with a convincing monkeystomp 45-17.  Now the Pioneers have Union's full attention and a rivalry has broken out. I see all the makings of a great DIII football game at Utica Saturday night. With all due respect for Dlip...I'll make a prediction: Union 38- Utica 33, in a shootout! I look forward to all LL vs E8 match-ups. I hope the series continues.

Point of interest. If I recall LLPP jargon correctly, a monkey stomp is a 41 point lead.

As far as Pep is concerned, he's elated when AU can fill out its non-conference schedule. Period. Be they cupcakes, boston cream pies or devils food cake with dark chocolate frosting...Pep is happy to get 10 games on the schedule. Not too many teams like the friendly confines of Mayberry's Merrill Field.  ;)

On Saxon Warriors....undefeated and unscored upon going into Week 2!!

When I was a junior/senior, there was talk of AU putting in a field house. It was a huge thing because the 7 year winless womens lax team was complaining about title 9. The field house was supposed to equal it out so they could get pumped up in a new locker room before their big defeats. Anything ever happen with that, Pep? Or is Davis still there?

Davis Gym is still standing and in use today. Women's locker rooms in McLane were renovated last year. The women's softball stadium (Harrington Field) has been constructed on the old Tucker Field, although a portion of the outfield closest to Merrill Field's back entry remains for Ultimate and other games play.

The "field house" in the form of an addition to McLane Center (into the parking lot toward the tennis courts) is nearing completion. In the "field house" aka wellness center, there will be a surface suitable for three basketball courts/perhaps indoor tennis/volleyball, etc. plus an elevated three-lane track (suitable for training purposes only...non-competitive), plus a "community room" for Zumba, etc.

I'm glad that Keith said good things about Fisher!

I'm still waiting for Pat or Keith to drop a Saterday bomb somewhere...

When that happens we will know the E8 has arrived, until then we're just playing catch up to LL lingo...

I believe that both have used the accepted spelling Saterday in previous seasons.

Ah! 42 points is a double-monkey stomp. Thank you for the correction.
