Yea but it is the same info they are going to put in the game program, why not put it on the website 2 days before the game?  Is there still a gridiron report that the Park School does?  I would assume that would raise more Title 9 issues than a 2 page blub would.

I dunno.  Ithaca is a school with programs for students interested in sports management, sports info, TV/Radio, etc, etc.   And if you want to do some of those jobs at the college level, football is going to be somewhere that you need some experience.

I just somehow doubt they are not going them anymore because of Title 9 issues.  These blurbs should help the program.

And for crying out loud, put a damn picture of the stadium on the website!

I think that, in that link you posted, half the stuff (last time they met, schedules, scouting the other team) is already available on the sites of either team.

The rest of it? JU, you know I love history and old stats, but seriously, how many people in 2008 truly cared that:

"This season marks the third year in a row that the Bombers have a week off during the season; that schedule quirk had not happened previously since the 1991 team took a week off en route to winning the Stagg Bowl."

or

"The Bombers' comeback in their 2005 St. John Fisher win (they trailed by 14 points with nine minutes left) marked the fourth time since 2001 that the Bombers have rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit of at least 10 points."

or

"The Bombers also won conference titles in the Independent College Athletic Conference (forerunner to the Empire 8) in 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. Ithaca owns an 88-29-2 (.748) advantage against the conference's current members."

When you talk about helping the program, I'm not sure that stuff really serves a purpose anymore. Ithaca's trying to do more with video (both live and YouTube). The department's last hire was a "Multimedia specialist." That's the direction sports media is trending, and Ithaca's moving there.

Yes, there are students who could (and do) help. I was one of them in grad school. But those students need to be supervised, and their content looked over and edited. Because I teach at Ithaca College, I can tell you, you can't just pull a person out of Park and have them write at the level needed for it to go on an official college Web page. That's not meant as an insult to students—that's why they're students, not professionals.

I'm just saying that the most information I've gotten about the Ithaca football team this year has been from a Union football fan's blog. (An awesome blog by the way)g.  Granted I haven't read the Ithaca Journal online (which usually does a decent job), or any of the other college papers, but there isn't a link to any of that stuff on the webpage anyway.

And how long does it take to put the media guide in a PDF format and post it?  Or the game program notes?

And actually yea, I do like to read all that unimportant stuff.  I even like to check out the JV scores but those haven't been posted in about 8 years now.

I do understand not putting that info in however.

Nothing is better on these boards then when we get the privilege of "outing" a player pretending to be someone else!  I don't think it's happened in a while though...
We need some more of those!
Like fisheralum, my karma has not fluctuated much in years, but the again I usually am not witty, not insightful...:)

Speaking of which...the CCIW boards may have some action on this front...
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Almost everything Dlip wrote about Ithaca in that post is information you can find in five minutes on IC's Web site. Look, you want this information centralized in one spot for easy, comprehensive reading. I get it. I don't even think it's unreasonable as a position. But it's still there, so what's the point in re-writing it each week?

Media guides and detailed game notes/write ups aren't intended for, or of interest to, casual fans. We're exceptions, but at a D-III school, I'm not sure there are enough fans like you and I to justify their presence in multiple places. Again, what's in a program that's not already on the Web?

Daaaang Buffalo State.  Looks like Whitewater wants some payback in a big way.

Bombers win 17-3.

Offensively, Jared Prguar was the star of the day, with 6 catches for 165 yards. The Bombers struggled to run the ball prior to the final drive (29 for 87, nothing longer than 7) but got some big plays.

Defensively, the Bombers get four sacks and a pick, holding Union to a mere 222 yards on 67 plays.

Two big plays won the game for IC. The first was a 39 yard punt return by Sam Carney to the Union 16, which set up the first TD. The second was a 56 yard pass from Neumann to Prugar down to the Union 7 on the first play of a drive. The rest of the game was a defensive struggle.

Bombers have now beaten Union four years in a row. Good start to the season

Final from Mayberry: Alfred 33, Montclair State 10
After taking a 30-10 halftime lead, only a field goal scored in second half as the band, soaked from playing under a leaky EZ-Up, run out the clock.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

The game went sideways for Montclair in the final minutes of the first half.  Alfred scored, then pick-six by nose tackle Zach Bacon (doing his best Mike Alstott impression on the run back), and last second field goal that pushed a 13-10 lead to 30-10 in a flash.  Kaz00 will take credit for that pick-six as just before the snap I said to the band, "Get the fight song ready!"  A soggy, chilly fun time for the band in Mayberry this saterday.

Man, have to love it when a fat guy scores!

That end of the half sounds a heck of a lot like what happened to Fisher at Alfred last year. Where it went from 7-6 AU to 19-6 in about 10 seconds of clock time.

Good win today AU!

Congrats to Ithaca on the win today over Union
Ithaca was and is the better football team. This may be a long year for the Dutchmen however dlip is very impressed with this young Union defense.  Best of luck to the Bombers the rest of the year. Dlip is almost always rooting for you!

I'm very interested in the Hobart/Utica game tonight.  I don't think Dickinson is a quality team, so really this will be Hobart's first test of the season.  It is also a good chance for Utica to see how they stack up against one of the best teams in our region.

I'm predicting an upset.  I wouldn't be surprised if I am dead wrong and Utica loses by 2+ scores either...but I'm going bold on this one.

Upstate

So far Larson from Utica is running really well against the very good Hobart D...

54 yards and a TD on 11 carries in the first quarter!!!

And as soon as I type that he gets stuffed for a 3 yard loss and two plays later Hobart blocks a punt inside Utica's 30 yd line...

Still 7-0 Utica for now...

Utica has thrown a pick, had a punt blocked and lost a fumble...

Yet are only down 7...
